[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

I have just received a tip from a reliable source that the HTC Incredible HD will be announced January 7th and should be available for purchase soon after for a retail price of $199.99. It will feature LTE radios as well a Super AMOLED display.

What source? And I'm calling bs because super amoled only goes up to 4 inch so not going to have that maybe it will release the 7th but I doubt that also!

Sorry, I cannot share my source. It came from someone at Verizon Wireless, that's all I can really say.

I would not have posted it the tip/rumor/whatever-you-wanna-call-it had I felt as if the information was invalid. There is a chance that the information is indeed correct, and there is also a chance that it is not correct.

Take it for what it's worth - a rumor. Nobody said you have to believe me.

Good stuff Trident, THANKS!

Personally, I am going to give it some time after CES to get the best device for me but I'm sure many ppl will be very excited to hear this...some have been DYING for this release.

+1 I'll be happy with my Dinc for at least a few months. Like you, I feel NO need to jump on anything now. My itch is now scratched. For now.

Good to see so many familiar names haven't been on in a while. Still on the droid og lol. Probably waiting on this phone till I upgrade. Was going to go with the x or the incredible, but from what I'm hearing all the delays seem to be pointing to this being dual core pretty nice phone.

I'm still happy with my droid but it is time to move up lol. I think i'm just going to wait and see what the HD has in store when it finally gets closer to a launch date.

Hope everyone has been doing well.

Is HTC planning on letting the FCC know? Even mid-January seems ambitious at this point.

Dual core and Super AMOLED2 would be enough for me to put this beast on a 1 year contract with Verizon. I"m not going to get my hopes up though... In the mean time, I'll be happy with my Evo.

Because super amoled only goes up to 4 inch they didn't come out with the super amoled 2 yet so that's why I'm calling bs. It could release with the same crappy screen the evo has but it won't have samoled.

As someone that has been watching this phone for several months...I know what your saying...All I'm saying is that CES will answer a lot of questions.

Yeah, my Fascinate will be here by Tuesday and that will keep me happy for awhile. Maybe even get me through the first LTE dual core devices to the mythical 4.8" devices that may be on the horizon...

Yeah, good to see you as well! I'm happy with the droid...but I know I could be happier with a better, faster device, with a bigger screen :D I've been spending a lot of free time researching upcoming phones since being eligible to upgrade...it's been taking up most of my free time (pathetic I know LOL). Hope all is well with you.

Didn't the supposed inc hd/mecha go through the fcc months ago?

I don't think it did. The skeptics have always thrown that out as a solid reason for their argument that "this phone isn't releasing anytime soon." I don't know how fast they could push a FCC approval...but it may be close to getting it for all we know.

Whaaat?! Sound sick. Although if the Mecha or (possibly) the Merge comes out within 30 days (I'm getting the X this Friday) I'm going to jump on it.

On a side note, I heard the Merge will be released mid-January. Haven't heard diddly on the Mecha, with only a handful of leaked pictures compared to the half dozen videos and gallerys of pictures of the Merge, it looks MUCH more reliable to be released in January.

Did you source happen to mention anything regarding pricing for LTE plans?

I hope they keep similar prices otherwise ill be jumping ship there shouldn't be much if any increase in costs when sprint and tmobile don't raise prices or atleast keep the unlimited data which they have now for us with that plan. We can only guess

And the skeptics are batting 1.000 because it's a definitive indicator. Figure 4-6 weeks after FCC approval. In the past 3 years, only the Blackberry Tour has bested a 4 week lead time (it was released 13 days after FCC approval). Sorry. I believe that we'll see the phone shown off at CES, but it won't be available to us before February. Mark it down.

plenty of phones passed FCC and were sold withing days

Torch got certified on aug 3 and was onsale by the 12th i think
Storm 2 was cert on Oct 18th and sold on the 28th
iphone 3gs Jun 8th and sold june 19th

so i dont quite see what your point is.

I would find it very hard to believe that Verizon wouldn't have an LTE handset until Q3 2011. If this is true, either Verizon or HTC would lose a customer (HTC if MOTO has an LTE device).

To be honest, I wouldn't put a lot of weight into what the CEO of HTC had to say. He is under an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with Verizon and really shouldn't have said anything but I am sure he just rattled off a reply because he was put on the spot. My guess is HTC will launch an LTE device in Q1, Mid-Feb to early March.
