Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Hi, thanks for the response...I am still having trouble placing this file on my system. I am using Astro file manager and I am able to copy the file from the sdcard, however when I move to the System/media folder, I can't paste it into it. What am I doing wrong?

I use root explorer, I do not think you can use astro, you need to change permissions after you move it there and root explorer does that. You should get root explorer if you do not have it, I think you can push it their but someone else needs to tell you how if that is the way you want to do it.

Permissions are (make sure these are checked, in root explorer, long press on the file after you copy it there and select permissions)
user read, write, execute
group read, execute
others read, execute

I am having more and more freezes and "Warning" popups, I know Fab has acknowledged it. Anyone else having this happen?

Is anyone having problems with hotreboot app? Usually when I perform a hotreboot it load straight to the second screen for like 3 sec. Then will load the system. But now when I try to do a hotreboot it load to the second screen and stay there for a few second and I 'll get a message saying " process system not responding". Then the screen will go blank. But the funny thing is i can still hold down the power button and the reboot default reboot screen will still work and reboot from there. Didn't have this problem with 1.3. Im thinking maybe the reboot option that was added may have interfered with it? Any ideas?

Yeah. I'm kind of having a problem like this as well. Randomly, my phone will reboot and then when it comes back, it will take an exceptionally long time to boot and then when it does it comes to a black screen that says something along the "process system not responding" and asking me to force close or wait, and if I wait, it doesn't do anything at all.

Also, if I were to reboot into clockwork and then wipe data and cache, what would that do? Would it set me back to default .340 or will I still be on Apex? If so, can I just reinstall the ROM and hope that solves some problems?

I've had a random reboot about 3 times today so... I don't know what's going on here. Other than that though, the phone has been running fairly swell. Sometimes I feel like it is a lot slower than it should be, but that just might be me mind playing tricks on me.

I guess I should have clarified.... 340 OTA from stock 2.3.15 nandroid, then installed 1.30, and 1.31 later. Did not clear the cache for either. No funny questionable sbf'ing here. :D

wipe data /factory reset will just clear all data and pretty much reset your x but with apex on it since thats what your running it will just restore it to a clean state and that may be in order for you

All right. That's the answer I was looking for. I think I might just try that right now, but if that doesn't work, I'm going to SBF and then install 1.3.1.

I have drug the market icon down to the dock thinking i was going to the trash can, forgot it was up top now..it replaced my multi squared application key and I cannot remove it. any advice

2.2.340 - apex 1.3.1 - dialer vm, and keyboard mic button issues
System: Stock 2.2.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US Odexed
Rom: Motoblur
VM: Verizon Paid Visual Voicemail

Now:
OS: 2.2.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US Deodexed
Rom: Apex 1.3.1
VM: Google Voice

Goal:
Was using Visual VM, want to migrate to Google Voice so that I have FREE visual voicemail.

Functionality desired:
1. To be able to press VM button in dialer and have it "show me" my Google Visual Voicemails.
2. To be able to hit "mic" button from w/in Dolphin, etc. It does work in some apps.

Issues:
1. Dialer - Yes, Google Voice is setup and Settings -> Call Settings -> Voicemail Service = Google Voice and Settings -> Call Settings -> Voicemail Settings = Settings for Google Voice
a: When I click the bottom left VM Icon, nothing happens. It takes me back to home screen
2. Dolphin - when entering text the keyboard has the MIC/Talk button disabled. Not sure if it is disabled anywhere else.

By the way, i just found this:

I was able to fix that by putting the Vvm.apk file (found in the removed apps / think it's in the 1.2 thread) on the sd card. Then...
su
install Vvm.apk

quickoffice is still not opening files from K9??

Oh, and the FC with the text messing was me being dumb and using the old version / no longer happens when I changed my LPP shortcut to messaging :)

This raises another question, will this be the version of VVM.apk that is in the 2.2.340 OTA or will it be an older version.

I have read that this was a bug in "other ROMS" is that the case here or is it that the VM button in the dialer can't be reprogrammed because the blur portion for the dialer is no longer there.

Any ideas?

ANOTHER forced reboot and "Warning" popup...starting to get really frustrated with this issue. Fab, any suggestions?

So, back to my "screen not shutting off" issue. I have it narrowed down to happening when I place a call by going into contacts and then contacts info and then ending the call without leaving the "contact info" screen. If I go back to the home screens it works fine but if I leave it on the contact info" screen it will not shut off. Any suggestions...other than returning to the home screens after a call.

you could use the app no call log. which auto closes the phone app and returns to the homes screen after a call.

Try typing the following into terminal emulator:

su
sys -rw
mv /system/usr/bin/setup_bt.sh /system/usr/bin/setup_bt
sys -ro
reboot

That'll turn off the startup script. I'm going to have to play around with that a little more, as it's causing some users issues :(

Hey, thanks for narrowing down the cause. I'll try to recreate this today and see what I can do about it.

Will that have any adverse effect on anything? Or will it only effect the issue I am having?

Fab what happened to the old circle battery icon? The one in your goodie zip is too hard to read....

heres a circle battery zip for ApeX

OK, I finally got an update.zip put together for the Glowing Circle Battery on ApeX.
It is the entire framework-res.apk from ApeX 1.3 with the circle battery icons instead of the GB ones. So if you have a theme over ApeX (or any changes to the framework) it will put it back to normal ApeX 1.3 with the circle battery
Install this just like any other update.zip
download ApeX_Circle_Battery.zip
bootstrap recovery
install zip from sdcard
choose zip
ApeX_Circle_Battery.zip
reboot

no need to wipe anything
as always make a backup just in case! but this works perfect on my phone
Enjoy Folks!

FWIW I tried to replicate this and wasnt able to. went into contacts, made a call, hung up on the call and just let the phone sit there still on that contacts info screen. 2 minutes later (the time i have the screen set to shut off at) the screen shuts off...
hope you get it figured out!
