Root New to rooting.

Okay, thanks a lot. I am about to hit go.

I don't worry about being back at factory reset because other than contacts synced with google, I can't think of anything on here I care about losing. So, I think I'll go the safe route and do the full data and cache wipe.

data wipe will knock out app data/contacts/messages etc. it will then ask you to log into your google account when you boot.

its like a fresh slate...minus kernel/rom/themes you have on the phone (they arent affected)

when you sync your google account as long as your contacts were google contacts they ll come back and with titanium backup (assuming you made a batch backup of apps prior) you can restore all of your personall apps and app data

So, I am thinking the reboot got interrupted. Because now I am in Android System Recovery Manual mode and I can't get out.

The phone began reboot, and then in the middle of the samsung logo, it went into manual recovery. When I select "reboot phone" it doesn't do anything.

The choices it is giving me are:

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

I did have it installed. Had everything backed up etc.

It will not allow me to select that. When I select it, nothing happens.

then in all likelyhood you have to restore back to stock in odin

-download mode

-select pit under pit key, system under pda...run it

-then kernel under pda key...run it

-then cwr under pda...run it

you should be back to stock, rooted dio1 with recovery at that point

Did system and pit, ran it - success.

Then hit PDA again, selected kernel, hit start - All threads completed (Succeed 0/ Failed 0)

Is that normal?

Just want to make sure before I do the next step.

BTW, nitsuj17 - I haven't worried too much once during this process because I have read all your posts and contributions to the board. I knew I had all the necessary files to fix this. Thank you in advance.

i usually do them one at a time...ie after system goes through i batt pull and start over.

however, see if the pit/system alone worked...battery pull, batt back in and power on

you arent getting success when pushing the kernel? you battery pulled and went back into d/l mode?

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

I pushed the kernel successfully. Pulled, then back into d/l mode.

Then I pushed CWR. Same thing.

Started the phone, right back to the manual mode screen.

even after everything was successful its still booting into blue recovery? now that you've pushed cwr can you select apply update.zip and get into cwr?

did you have any form of voodoo before all this?

No, still get the black screen with blue text.

I did nothing to this phone before. I rooted, and then I got myself here. Flashed CWM, nandroid backup, backed everything up. Went into odin to push the DJ05 modem, and then while it rebooted it froze. now I am here.

have you tried to repush the modem?

if that doesnt work, adryns all in one dio1 package...might...frankly this is the first time ive seen someone have an issue from an interrupted odin process on a modem though :o

Haha, oh man I am an idiot. You mean this is the first time you've seen somebody interrupt an Odin process? Or first time somebody had this happen from an interrupted Odin process.

Should I try and repush the modem I was trying to install before? The DJ05 one? And if that doesn't work I should try this Di01 Odin Fix All?

Correct?

i would try the modem first, yes. i mean im sure you arent the only person to ever do this on a galaxy s device...but its the first time ive come across it :o

the fix all should throw you back to bone stock dio1 unrooted and it ll flash the dio1 radio

Modem didn't work.

I am still downloading the Odin Fix All. Oh man, I hope I am not in the 1% of phones that cannot be recovered.

if that doesnt work (and it has for some people that were completely hosed) id like to think someone else can come up with a solution for you :)
