Root Renaming HTC Lockscreen

WormDoes

Android Expert
Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in renaming HTCLocksreen.apk to HTCLockscreen.bak and getting a working vanilla lockscreen? I heard that this works but I just tried on my phone and I got stuck at splash screen for over 10 minutes. I have a vanilla lockscreen zip that I know works but I was trying to avoid using it because when I flash it it changes my notification bar and icons. So, I went into Root Explorer, clicked the write permissions on top right and changed the name to exactly what I listed above. Am I doing something wrong or is this not even possible? I'm on Warm 2.2 with ColorNClear theme and so many mods that I can't even remember them all haha :D Thanks in advance

I done it earlier and it worked, but the buttons you slide to unlock and change from vibrate to sound wasnt colored. So I downloaded the speedo battery meter / vanilla lock color zip.

I'm running warm 2.2 also. But when I try to install the clear notification bar my speedo meter messes up.

Also worm, did you change your signal strength / 3g icons? I been trying to figure it out

Yes, I have, but they were included in the theme I'm running. THIS is a pretty sick website to mod your notification bar. If you're comfortable removing and uploading your framework.res.apk and flashing zips then you shouldn't have any problems. I haven't tried it out on my Inc but I used to cook up a ton of goodies for my Eris there.

Never heard of that trick before. I'm on Myn's also (version 3 w/ Adrynalyne's kernel) and afterward did a hot restart. It got stuck on the Myn Warm 2.2 screen with the progress bar. After a battery pull, it started up ok though. Yeah as mentioned, the buttons for slide unlock aren't colored but that's perfect for my setup because I run a mostly black & white look anyway. I'm gonna stick with it for awhile and if it doesn't cause any issues, probably leave it that way for good. Thanks for the tip.

No problem. Glad it worked for you. After I renamed it I did a hot restart and thats where I got stuck. I never thought to try rebooting normally after it was stuck I just did a restore. Have you tried the alarm clock yet? I heard it does work from some people and it doesn't from others? I'm going to try renaming again, then rebooting normally and see if it works.

Nice, it worked! I kind of like the simplicity of the white and black tabs. It doesn't really go with my current setup but I'm not complaining. This is BY FAR the easiest way to switch between lockscreens. Plus, I love how easy it's going to be to switch between this and the stock locksreen, just change the name back to apk. I'm pumped that this worked. Thanks for helping iowabowtech

Just a heads up to anyone that is going to do this, the stock HTC alarm clock DOES NOT work on this like I suspected. You won't be able to turn the alarm off unless you rebooot or pull the battery. I'm almost positive the ASOP alarm will work so I'm going to flash that to use with this lockscreen. Give me a minute and I'll post the link...HERE it is post #130 at the bottom of the page

Hey, do you have a link handy for removing the crosshairs with the white dot in the middle beside the 3G icon?

Alarm went off but I couldn't get it to quit without stopping the app. I've had that before though and i never really use the alarm. Probably me not knowing what im doing. How do you silence the damn thing anyway? LOL.

You're going to have to install the ASOP clock to work with this lockscreen. I posted it above in one of my previous posts. I'm 99.9% sure it'll work but I haven't had a chance to test it. I'm going to in a little while

I installed it and it works

Well I got the vanilla lock screen working with Riptides V10 theme for ClearNClean.

It has the speedo battery meter, but everything else from his notification bar is the same.

But, hitting menu while on the lock screen takes you back to home

Completely misread your post, sorry. I know somewhere on xda there is a zip that fixes the "menu to unlock" for the vanilla lockscreen. Go into the Incredible or EVO themes sections and search for it

Well, I restored to stock Myn Warm 2.2, fixing to re-install Ripetide's V10 and change up some stuff.

The only problem with my vanilla lockscreen/spedo clock zip, is the notification bar stays black while on homescreen, you cant change it with any other zip. It stays black no matter what, so I'm gonna redo everything

Well I thought I bricked my phone last night while we was talking. My restore points wouldn't work. Kept saying mismatched M5D or is it md5, either way they wouldnt work and I was stuck with my phone not connecting to verizon network.

I turned airplane on and off, I turned mobile connect on but it kept fc'ing.

So like an idiot I installed a zip from my sd card and got stuck in bootloop.

So about 3 this morning and a pack of cigarettes later, I re-installed Myn's Warm 2.2 and to my surprise everything went back to normal. So I just installed the Riptide9's V10 of clearNclean.

Side note. Don't install his speedo meter with vanilla lockscreen. Yes I know he said they don't work together, but his v9 colored notification bars work on v10, so I thought what the hell and tried the speedo meter.

Because my speedometer/vanilla lock screen I downloaded elsewhere worked just fine, I just had to be stuck with a black notification bar and when I pulled the bar down it said evo notification since his theme is based on the evo.

So I got rid of the speedo/vanilla lock screen and just downloaded his blue notification bar and kept the round battery meter.

Now my phone looks so sweet, I love the evo animations.

Quick question, what does your signal strength meter look like? I wanted the blue one from his screen shots but can't seem to get it.

Here is my home screen.

That is his 4 signal bar from an earlier release. The changes to go from a 4 signal to a 6 signal are in the service.jar file. I believe it is based off the older EVO framework. You would loose the power bar mod in the notification bar amoong other things. You best bet is to search around for a theme that has the 6 bar signal meter that you like and pull the .png files out of it and replace them in Rip's theme.
