No it will not. iphone 5 probably will.

i know att said no "4g" iphone until 2012....i mean vzw obviously is now the first non gsm iphone, so anythings possible...but id find it unlikely that after spending all this time getting a cdma iphone going, that apple would consent to making an lte iphone 5 this summer for vzw and 3g gsm versions for everyone else

id bet the "iphone 6" will be the first 4g iphone

yeah i posted this in the root forum, as it seemed more appropriate there...and its really broken at this stage...so no one please start rooting immediately just to get it ;)

Yeah, I saw you posted it there. Just figured I'd add it here.

Also, if anyone is dumb enough to flash it expecting everything to work, then they probably should have an iPhone anyway.... :D

Awesome to see the progress in the matter of a week he has made though.

yeah, hes definitely a VERY talented individual :D

i considered posting this in general to give some hope out there....but as usual im still concerned that the froyo/gb development and lack of official anything from verizon would push many into the root crowd that dont feel comfortable there

while some may do it and find out they cant believe what they were missing by not rooting....i also fear there where be a lot more members of the "i borked fascinate club" :o

I don't see why people would wait to root?

I'm still on DI01 since I've been waiting for a 2.2, and I still think it was the best thing I did.

Running Nextang's Orange Theme with the Super clean ROM and AOSP Lockscreen made this phone what it should have been stock.

Mated with launcherpro and a good Kernel, it's cleaner, quicker, and has better battery life than what Samsung offered.

Just my 2 cents.

oh believe im a big proponent of root....i just know a lot of people are wary of it..and i understand why

many just want a good phone that does what they need without tinkering...and thats something that should be expected.

however, even if the fascinate was perfect out of the box...id still have rooted

I understand that you want to show ppl that froyo dev is advancing but I also see the reason that nit only posted it ok the root section. I don't mean for it to offend but when you post something that says we have froyo in the works ppl are likely to run and jump on it and get themselves into heavy water and not know what to do resulting in the majority running to verizon saying my phone broke. Yet again I didnt post this to argue or offend, I just think that nit had a reason for his post in all things root. Most that frequent there know when they are safe to start doing trials.

EXACTLY!

When I tried to sync the SD card on the Fascinate with my Mac Pro and all I got were error messages, I became frustrated. Then I started reading about "work arounds" for the situation.

When I realized that the Fascinate has no visual SMS notification, I read that there was an app for it.

I just want a phone that works, out of the box. No tinkering. Turn it on, and go.

For many, rooting a droid is the way to go. I wish I had the confidence or patience to deal with root. In my case, simplicity and functionality are bliss.

Oh I didn't know att said that. I dont think the iphones on the networks will be different at all beside the obvious (gms/cdma). So I guess verizon is at att mercy for 4g.

Do you really expect me to feel bad for people if they click a link, don't read that pretty much NOTHING works on it, and flash it?

It's not like the typical person can just flash a ROM, and most people that can/do flash them understand well enough and the risk.

It's not like the typical Fascinate user will be able to do anything with the link I posted, and it gives the root crowd in this thread something exciting.

Just my 2 cents.

Finally got the DLO9 update last night.... Should I wait for the 2.2, or return the phone and get in line for the iPhone? Tomorrow my 30 day satisfaction guarantee is up, so I must make a quick decision.

Another question I have is, if I were to return my fascinate tomorrow, and got a cheesy phone in the meantime, could I still return that phone, and get the iPhone when it comes out on the 10th, and still get the 2yr contract price?

you ll have to pay the $35 restock fee for the fascinate....and then you would still be able to lock yourself into a 2 yr for the iphone...i dont know what you mean by "cheesy" phone...just regular phone?

btw for iphone people....wouldnt it just be best to wait 5 months (or less) for the iphone 5? you guys are essentially buying a phone thats been out since last june

I like my Fascinate and it is better now that the GPS locks on in 5 seconds rather than 5 minutes. My brother has an I phone 4 and my Fascinate seemed to do everything that his Iphone would do as well or better......

Isn't this the Samsung Fascinate 2.2 speculation thread and not the "what should I return my Fascinate for" thread?

Just saw that pic birdman posted that nitsuj mentioned. At this rate we might be changing this thread to the 2.3 speculation thread. I'm also liking that if this keeps we'll go from all being stuck on 2.1 to having a choice of either going to 2.2 or 2.3.

I've had this phone for about a week and I like it. I mean of course there's lag time and it isn't as smooth as the Iphone but I think Android is far better than IOS.

Is there even going to be an update for us? Speculation has been going on for so long I have a feeling a new Samsung Android phone will come out before an update does and we'll be stuck with rooting the phone to get an upgrade.

Based on the news in this link, I'm placing my bets on the fact that the 2.2 Froyo update for the SF will come out shortly after the new Samsung LTE phone drops. Samsung seems content on trying to get as many of the current SF customers to plunk down $$'s for their new phone as well, before giving us the update we've been waiting for since the SF's release.

There's virtually no point in not rooting(assuming your comfortable enough to do it) once the dev's here release 2.2/2.3 roms. I know that's the ONLY thing I'm waiting for now. http://androidforums.com/samsung-fascinate/255790-not-just-us.html#post2132440

Well said. I'll be flashing a mature Froyo or Gingerbread rom when the the time is right. To hell with Samsung and Verizon :).

Heck no. Unless the updated iPhone is still 3G (not 4G) there's no way I'd jump on that. If they release I 4G version, I would hope the 3G would still stick around for a while. In fact, being 3G is the biggest reason to buy this iPhone instead of waiting.

i dont think the iphone 5 will be 4g

my point is that waiting 5 months for it is well worth it imo, than buying a really old iphone 4 at this point...and the hardware specs alone im sure will justify it

i read so much so many places i may have got this info from this thread even...but i saw that its likely that iphone wont have 4g till likely iphone6

According to iPhone fans, any hardware feature beyond the 800mz single-core with SGX535 inside the iPhone 4 is a total waste and doesn't make any phone any better or faster anyway. Also, no one needs a >3.5" screen. Only screen density matters.

This will remain the case until a faster iPhone with a larger screen and faster processor comes out, at which point anything below that spec will always have sucked.

God, being in a cult is stupid.
