***Official Samsung Fascinate 2.2 Speculation Thread***

Sounds exactly like an article written late or released late that perfectly describes exactly what the DL09 OTA did a couple weeks back. Useless information.
 
To the people looking in to iPhones...I work for AT&T (yes I have verizon because at&ts coverage is not as great, even if its faster, I don't care) chances are likely that iPhone 5 (4G/4S/4GS) or w/e will be 4G. Apple wouldn't profit from making another 3G phone if their main competitor (android) is rolling out phones with 4G.

As far as iPhone issues, Don't get the current iPhone 4...it's crappy junk. It may be easier to navigate menus and what not, and multitask. But it gets just as clunky, and lagged as all other phones. The hardware in the phone is still not resolved for the antenna issues meaning you have to hold your phone still a special way...even with the verizon version of slightly modifying it.

Apple won't make the same mistake again cause it hurt their rep, if you want the iPhone, I would wait...6 months after iPhones 5 release to get it. iPhone exposed tons of errors in AT&T networks, AT&T "got prepared" but was not expecting the popularity of it to become like it is which is why coverage sucks. Verizon could likely have the same issues as they truly can never know the amount people that will start up/upgrade to iphones. Just a precaution in my opinion from someone who deals with the iPhone and a bogged down network on a daily basis.
 
I thought this was a funny little add on the writer did... nice!

...but we imagine that T-Mobile's rivals aren't sitting still -- we'll probably hear some fascinating, captivating and totally epic news about Froyo any minute now.

This is a "Speculation thread", that's why I posted it here. There's ton of "useless information" here that ended up not being true. It's also dated today, so I assumed it was something new that thought I might share it.

And the rent is reasonable. Forms of payment include:
1. sleepless nights
2. sweat, blood, tears, or all of the above
3. hands on Odin training
4. a spirit of adventure
5. the desire to make your phone really "your phone."

I kid! I kid! Really, just rooting and doing a little customization is pretty safe on this phone. I was even able to get the easy root method to work on a friend's Fascinate the other day. Everything is still running great for her so far. The main one you need to have is #5. I can't even imagine running this phone without rooting and customizing it some. It would be like clipping its wings or something.

Yeah there are some days when i find hard to accept that someone can own an android phone and. *not* root...,i have to remind myself that its not for everyone. :o:o
 
I rooted my brother in laws with DJ05/Super Dark/-100 Voodoo5 and after a couple weeks out of the blue his gallery stopped displaying pictures. He immediately freaked out and exploded my text telling me he would waiting at my house for me to "fix his damn phone and return it to stock" and so I did. I did the Adrynalyne DI01 one-click ODIN package after I disabled VooDoo ion red CWM, then we immediately went and pushed the OTA (DL09) on it and I said to him.... There you go, bone stock... I have nothing to do with it now. He then went to open the gallery... and the pictures would open, but it took like 10 seconds to open them.

Some folks freak out if they have a problem. I knew he was that type of guy, plus he one of the 5% of Americans that does not own a Laptop or PC of any sort. So on top being a slight bit of a spaz over the phone acting up, he really has his hands tied and can not try to do anything about it. So for that type of user, maybe bone stock is the way to go. Remember, things do not always go according to the plan! So if you can not handle that emotionally, I would honestly say to hang back and stay stock until you feel you want to root and change the phone soooooo bad that you are willing to accept that you may have to wipe and retry if things do not go right the first time.

Im rooted, but I see nothing wrong with the folks that do not wish to do it. There are also plenty of folks that are not "into" computer stuff and when reading the instructions on how to root.... read it as if they are looking at another language. If that is you, you should not root in my opinion.
 
When I was doing my interview yesterday we stumbled onto phones and come to find out the girl that was doing the interview had a fascinate. So I finally ended up asking her so do you do anything to it like rooting it, which in turn she looked at me like I had 2 heads. So then I asked her if she had received the ota update. She yet again looked at me like I was crazy. She had no idea that phones even got updates, I know I was like omg too. I then showed her how to look for an update but warned her the bugs/problems with dl09, and explained a few ways to get around some. She was so excited that the job I was supposed to be taking was second shift(which I didnt want but in my situation was not going to turn down) well she started playing around in her computer and moved some stuff around and got me first shift :D first thing I told my wife was hah being a mobile geek pays off sometimes.

But I guess my whole point in the rambling is its unbelievable how little some ppl know about their device. She was highly educated, very smart with computers, but didnt even know phones could get updates. That just amazes me.

yeah i hear ya Larry :)

i have to remind myself that sometimes its not for everyone and in now way do i endorse people doing things they arent comfortable with :o

i just tend to think so much that the advantages over the iphone and wp7 (well so far) is what you can do to the devices once you unlock/root them

imo, stock android devices are good, but like caged beats waiting to be released
 
So, back to the topic :) We have T-mo and Sprint on the verge of 2.2. Does that give us any guesses as to how far away the Fascinate is? I got to thinking that since we JUST got the DL09, it would still be a while, but who knows ...

what other carriers do with updates samsung gives them is one thing...what verizon chooses to do.......

id say its better the other carriers get updates....but i dont know how much it helps us at all

Is it official or still just speculation that ther are getting 2.2?
If official id say soon hoprfully, or big red is going to have a mob at their door haha.

T-mo is official. Sprint announced "ASAP", how soon that is in not certain, but I would bet pretty soon.

Still no comment from Samsung or VZW .. AT ALL .. about 2.2 for the Fascinate. This may be the worst part of it all.
