Motorola Atrix ftw o.o

2GB of data is a lot. I mean if you have an ISP at home, there's no reason why you should exceed the cap. I can understand for those who tether and use it as their main internet line but to be honest, that's not what it's meant for so you really have no room to complain.

Though I don't want to lose my unlimited data plan, I agree.

I looked at my data and was surprised I've never used more than 200MB. That surprised me. I'm a very, very heavy emailer (150+ per day), lots of attachments, I travel a lot, browse and use maps often when I travel, etc.

However, I do work at home and have my phone set for Wi-Fi here and wherever I can get it (airport clubs, hotels, etc). And, of course, only download attachments to my phone if I need them.

Phones also do a lot of good browsing optimization. I think there is a lot we don't consider when we think about how much (or how little) phone data we use.

Of course, I don't stream full length movies onto my phone or watch YouTube videos on it. I also don't tether. I have a Clear modem for that (faster and cheaper).

I haven't seen any mention of this, but in the specs it lists, along with GSM bands, "WCDMA 850/1900/2100" support. Does that mean it'll work on Verizon and/or Sprint?

I assume this is because of the similar Droid Bionic, which could mean an alternative for people on AT&T that want a larger screen than the Atrix.

Wcdma is hspa. It's a little confusing but those bands have nothing to do with what verizon and sprint have.

That page says Android 2.3 is the OS?!

Yeah that's wrong. Everything else looks correct with what other sites have said.

Ok I have a question. Do you guys think that the Atrix will be able to create a true wifi hotspot like the EVO? On the iPhone you can use mywi and connect devices to the phone but things like the Kindle won't let you connect to the adhoc wifi network that mywi creates.

I sure do hope that it comes with an FM radio, it's a handy feature to have (especially with RDS) but I'm not so sure about the accuracy of this site, it also says 1080P video recording which is wrong as well.

I'm only play devil's advocate here because I haven't seen anything about the radio other than that site.

Edit: I noticed that FM radio is listed on quite a few phone blogs, so I'm guessing it's probably available, it just not noted on "official" sites; which doesn't really mean much.

1080p video recording is supposed to come with the upgrade to Android 2.3. (or so the rumor goes)

Wi-Fi hotspots require a tethering plan on top of the data plan.

I think it will be capable of wifi hotspot, almost all new android phones are capable, plus on the AT&T it says hotspot capable.

That would be awesome!

Until we get root ;)

Apparently March 1st release date for the Atrix
Found it on engaget, who got the info from a supposed leaked document.
Kind of a downer, i want it now haah

Motorola Atrix hitting March 1st, according to AT&T document leak? -- Engadget

That's just a linkback to the Android Central post that we talk about in this forum:
http://androidforums.com/motorola-atrix-4g/256906-uh-oh-rumor-its-coming-march-1st.html

There are lots more "sources" saying feb 13 now; which honestly makes more sense.

Everything i've read says these new crops of phones WILL be coming with 2.3 aka gingerbread

I don't think it will be quite that early. Once phone gets released to testers it will generally be 4-6 weeks till release(or so i've heard it said). End of feb, early march at best is my guess
