[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Anybody think there's a chance they could end up releasing this with 2.3 ?

I'm shocked that it wouldn't come with 2.3 considering the Nexus S has already had it for over a month and I've been rockin it on my Incredible for about a month. That will be my only disapointment , kind of like the Fascinate which still only has 2.1

My guess is this drops on Feb 14 alongside Xoom. Nexus is has 2.3, but there is no SENSE ones that have 2.3. I am not sure when HTC gets the update how long it takes to add Sense on top of that. I would think we would have an update as we did with the Incredible. I remember that taking a few months.

Running 2.3 on INC really does not mean anything as it is Vanilla, not with Sense, right? Or did I miss that ROM :D

So I'm guessing the Thunderbolt will actually be $150 after rebate hopefully.... Hopefully it's not $350 with a $100 rebate

I'm willing to bet that this phone is $250 after the MIR. If I remember correctly, the Inc on launch day was $199 after a $100 MIR, as most flagship smartphones are. Why would the TB be cheaper? I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. Also, I don't think I'm willing to spend $320 on a 1 year contract for this (assuming it's $70 extra for a 1 year contract). I'm probably going to wait and see what the Incredible 2 has to offer and go from there. Is anyone else really annoyed with VZW? First they 86 the NE2 and now the 4G phones are an extra $50 too??? If they don't charge extra for 4G data plans and keep it unlimited for $30/month then I won't be as pissed. If they try charging some outrageous amount for the data plans on top of the extra $50 per phone I think I may leave VZW to be honest.

Yeah, I am not real happy about the price either. Anybody know how the min. advertised price relates to Resale price? Like, what is the Incredible's Minimum advertise price? Also, I wonder if Best Buy is getting price protected and will sell the device at $199.99?

Well seeing that the TB comes with a 32GB SD card, I can't be mad at the $249 price tag, especially comparing my purchase of the 16GB iPhone 3G for $299 two years ago. Plus I live in an LTE city so I'd really be putting the phone to use. Plus I have a March 1 birthday so I can get my gf to get it for me as a birthday present so I don't really care about the price. :) I'm soooo sold on this phone.

There may be a chance, there's an APK of the HC music player floating around, I've used it on my phone. And it works.
A chance sure. But that music player doesn't mean much. prolly just the one from the xoom... dunno
That price BLOWS!! Not only is it 50 bucks more expensive AND they will be charging extra for 4g per month(even if its not in your area))i'm guessing btw, but this is what i expect) BUT the 250 price is for new users i'm guessing... what happens to the price if there isn't NE2 pricing anymore????

I wish but NOT A CHANCE. I mean it sounds great but i just don't see big V going there:(:(:(

I got lte in my city as well AND the 32 gig card is nice BUT i haven't even filled my 8 gig card i got now (or barely dented my 8gigs of internal) so that doesn't much matter to me. Its all about the pricing, if 4g is the only reason its 50 more expensive then can i order a 3g one:rolleyes:
LOL

Just throwing this out there. The MAP document leak shows both the Droid Pro and the Droid2 Global as getting their MAP set on 11/3/10 Those phones both launched on 11/9/10, less than a week later. This doesn't apply to the R2D2 Droid, which was over a month later, but if I recall correctly, there were delays in that launch. I'm not saying that the Xoom and the TBolt will launch within a week, but I think we're closer to launch than late February-early March. I'm guessing the February 14th rumors will hold up. Hopefully we see them sooner.

EDIT: Those phones both launched 6 days after having their MAP set. Incidentally, 6 days after yesterday's MAP date for the Thunderbolt is Thursday. Verizon launches phones on Thursday. Just sayin'

Been looking for tbolt news and found some interesting stuff.

First a few tweets from blackmanx

@black_man_x What about Bolt vs LG phone? Also, is tbolt one you were railing on for crappy battery life? Will it last all day?

@htowngator that wasn't the bolt with the battery life issue. I choose not to share which it was as the power managment hasn't been done

@black_man_x What about build quality tho? Tbolt doesn't have gorilla glass or quality of moto. How about battery life?

@htowngator moto is gonna win in build quality but htc has stepped up on the bolt. Battery will be better on bionic if they get it dialed in

@black_man_x You think dual-core that important? really torn over LG vs Bionic vs Tbolt LTE phone.

@htowngator I don't think dual core matters.. moto told everyone its locked it down so u can't hack it anyway. Bolt is much cleaner feeling

@black_man_x @ryjb So the Thunderbolt has better battery life than the Bionic even though it has a much smaller battery?

@RichardRClark @ryjb at this time moto hasn't fully fleshed out the power management.

@black_man_x When the time comes and both are available Bionic or Thunderbolt?

@ryjb more then likely bolt. I will keep my bionic but I need better battery life

Also, for those wondering about the upcoming Incredible 2

@black_man_x Heard a rumor about a DInc 2. Is that the TBolt or new device all together? 2 upgrades burning holes...

@benkorver the Droid incredible 2 will be non lte. I haven't seen it myself so reserving judgement till I get hands on

Next is about the tbolt release date. Tbolt2011 said he heard from all the Verizon employees at his store that it would be released on Feb. 11th. There is a thread over at Android Central that's got a lot of info pointing to that being true or close to it. To sum it up, there are three dates that are prevalent, Feb. 10th, 11th, or 14th. The supposed reason for coming out at the same time as the iphone is that they want to see how the two stack up to each other. Here's the link to the thread if you're interested.

[Unconfirmed] Thunderbolt in early February - Android Forums

So after looking at the tweets, I'm good to go with the tbolt as my main worry was battery life, but it sounds like the moto needs more work to optimize it. As far as the single vs. dual core thing, I've read we could possibly be seeing quad core by next year, so any future proofing would only be for a year anyway. That and I like the style of htc's phones and sense (especially after playing with a friends X and a fascinate in the store). Hope this helps on a boring Sunday (tech news wise anyway).
