March 6th Release - Feb 13th pre-sale.

I'm having a hard time believing Motorola would sell the laptop dock for $499. Surely they can't be that stupid - you can get a good netbook for that price. I was leaning toward getting the dock when it was rumered at $150, but I wouldn't think about paying more than that for it. I'm probably going to still get the Atrix though, as I'm sticking with AT&T and that seems to be the best phone coming anytime soon.

Evo iteration without ffc and too small battery. Almost the same league as the MT4G just released 5 months too late.

Not even close. Inspire is Desire HD ( better proccessor, more ram amd super LCD to name a few diff) not EVO so your wrong there. If you go to the inspire section there are many reviews saying battery is a non issue ( phonescoop for instance) So the only thing your right on is the FFC if thats really a big deal for you then ok but for the average person who rarely if ever will use it its no big

WSJ is usually right about stuff, but I've got to believe they're wrong about this one. The $199 price for the phone sounds somewhat reasonable, but an extra $300 or $500 for the laptop dock is insane. I'd hope Motorola would have better folks at their company than that - as others have said, you can get a good netbook for that kind of money.

"AT&T executives say the docking feature of the Atrix 4G targets business customers who travel."

This contradicts what Motorola reps were saying at CES that they were not specifically targeting businesses but everyone. Essientlally what there saying is business users are the only ones that will be interested in the Laptop Dock

Buisness customers who travel will NOT be hamstringing their functionality and wasting valuable (and expensive) suitcase/lap top bag realestate with this. It will be the fastest single lap top they can pack and the best stand alone phone they can pack..As someone who has traveled Mon-Fri for 10 years straight...i guarantee it.

$500? That is obscene since we know there is no on-board computing power or storage. I really don't know what they are thinking, I am really thinking about not getting the Atrix at this point. I mean 75% of the reason I wanted it was for the laptop dock, but if they expect me to pay $500 for a battery pack, keyboard, and LCD, with a plastic housing they are sorely mistaken. Even $500 for the bundle is outrageous, I paid that much for my unsubsidized Motorola Milestone, and they want me to pay that price for a subsidized phone. I'll take screw you AT&T for $500 Alex(Jeopardy reference).

Right!

Though technically apps distributed through the market are also .APK, Android Package, which is a ZIP compress set of files/folders (runtimes, resources like PNG images, XML layout descriptions, etc.)

That's another cool thing about sideloading, you can grab the APK, modify the contents, sign it, and push it back with different graphics, fonts and whatnot.

You can still do that via ADB

No I meant the design an Evo iteration from the specs it is more like a MT4G...still the MT4G came out 5 months ago and is a great phone but at least it has a ffc and the bigger battery. I had the MT4G and a large capacity battery is very nice.....

Confirmed:

AT&T Announces the World?s Most Powerful Smartphone, the Motorola ATRIX 4G, Will Be... -- DALLAS, Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

Not only that, it requires a $100 mail-in rebate to get it, and you have to subscribe to the datapro plan WITH the tethering add-on.

Look at the key facts:

"Motorola ATRIX 4G is expected to be available from AT&T and select retail channels for customers by March 6 or earlier."

That says "or earlier". I just got an email from a retailer saying that AT&T has confirmed a Feb 14th launch.(which is not a Sunday though)

$500 for an 11" screen, a battery, keyboard, and 2 usb ports? Am i missing something here? I could find a fully capable laptop for half that price.

Sorry, I was more interested in confirming the ridiculous pricing...the date is irrelevant to me now.

so far everything points to charging at night for the inspire so if i can get 12 hours im good also big difference between mytouch4G and inspire is inspire has sense 2.0 the only phone in US with it right now

I wouldnt mind the exta for the phone but they are pricing the laptop dock as out of reach.

You can go to the Dell outlet and get an Icore5 14 inch lap top with win 7, 4G of ram, an HDMI out and a huge hard drive for right at $500. Wait for one of their every 60 day 20% off coupons and you can throw in a remote control, headphones, and a few other things for around $500.00

As a stand alone phone the atrix is still very nice....but the WHOLE point of it was the doc abilities. Take the doc out and the atrix cant hold its own against the HTC inspire with its polished UI and larger screen.

$499 for the laptop doc = fail

that is just sickening.

well let me ask this...is the "full" version of firefox availble on the phone...or just through the webtop application?

hahahahahahahahahahahaha tethering plan required to use the dock what a fn epic fail LOL

I had a bad feeling that they would pull something like this. I also have a really bad feeling that if I try to buy the laptop dock, they aren't going to let me use my company discount because they won't classify it as an accessory.

So basically $300 for the laptop dock ($500 bundle - $200 price of phone)? I wouldn't buy it, but I can see how that might be a reasonable price to pay for some.
