In terms of build quality, the phone is solid but plastic. It feels good but metal would have been great though. Ill probably otter box mine anyways.

and to be honest, i really liked the bravo, it had a really nice feel to it, especially for a mid range android phone

Is it possible to eventually allow sideloading after a root is released? Even with an encrypted bootloader?

Sorry for a noob question, but what exactly is sideloading? And why is it being blocked?

AT&T did this to stop you from installing apps such as tethering apps.
It can be done with root and a hack (similar to the Backflip one posted above) or through ADB (no root required, pretty easy to learn)
Ohhh I think I remember hearing about that. So I still get full access to the Android Market, but apk. and other such files will not install?
