Going to the Atrix 4g training 2/2/2011!!

I appreciate you offering to take questions :) What I'd like to find out is if the webtop environment offers any customizability. Is it possible to install additional Linux (not Android) apps? How about Firefox browser extensions? What apps (other than Firefox) are included in the webtop?

Seems to me that it's the docking experience that makes the Atrix truly unique. But short of "full firefox" and "media browser" we really haven't seen what else (if anything) it offers.

Very cool that you get to get involved in some early training on this. Damn nice of you to offer up potential questions from us as well.

The biggest thing that's got me on the fence about this device is motoblur. If it's too much in your face and slows down the phone, it's probably a deal breaker for me. any hands on impressions would be greatly appreciated.

Screen and battery life if possible.

I read on here the display might use a different version of the Pentile Matrix thats in Amoled screens. So see if the screen has a screen door effect, what we used to see on big screen TV from years ago.

Marc, would you mind trying to discreetly let a phone idle after the heavy demo use for a bit and see if it gets hot? That would debunk that whole PMU issue fairly well. (I think it is nothing, but it seems to refuse to go away)
Thanks again, and whatever you can find out will be helpful.

Hey guys,

My regional stopped by the store today and told me some really good things:

The atrix 4g will be released the 14th of febuary (no pricing yet)
The inspire will also be released on the 14th for $99 w/2 year up/acto

this goes pretty well with all the rumors running around

anyways, Ill keep your questions in mind when I go to the training...you guys gave me a lot of good stuff to look for that i didnt even think of!

Good to hear. I wonder why they're keeping the price a secret?

This makes me smile :-) heeeeeyyyy blinky were are you?? Lol

So Feb. 14 is the date now with no pricing. That's cool since my contract for my 3GS expires the 20th. Only bad thing, I may have to be on a waiting list since this phone is going to be very popular.

I hope so. I'm gonna try to squeeze at&t for an early upgrade if its available at the COR stores haha.;)

as long as your 6 months into your contract you are good my friend.

just do not bring your current phone with you, tell them you lost it. (it helps the cause)

Oh, and just a little speculation about the pricing for the Atrix;

I believe that a $150 (on contract) price point seems to be right because of the accessories you can buy for it. I feel like if AT&T prices this phone lower, more customers will be inclined to buy the 2 docks, bringing in more GP than they would have at the $200 price point.

Nice so I take it cor stores will have it on the 14th. It still $75 for the early upgrade?

I think COR will have it the 13th, retailers get it the 14th (thats usually how it goes)

unfortunately, early upgrade costs went up from $75 to $200 :-\ Meaning, if the atrix was 200, you would have to pay 400....not as bad as full price, but i feel your pain brotha

Ok so we still might be looking good for the 13th then!

Darn they must've just recently switched that rule. Oh well beats 600. :D

I have to admit, I wish it was coming out on the 15th... because this might be my last Valentines Day dinner with my girlfriend if it comes out before! ;) The whole dinner I'm going to be thinking about it, wanting to play with it, talking about it, hell I might say "Dinner for 3!" instead of 2! :D Basically, ATRIX ATRIX ATRIX and not us! LOL. This will be very hard to focus on something other than the Atrix... hahaha.

Hey Marc,

Please find out if it works well as a phone! Did they put a good antenna in it? Some of the best reception I've gotten on any phone/network was with my old Moto v365.
If it doesn't work well as a phone (like the Captivate! - at least for me it didn't) it won't work as my only device. Thanks for taking questions from us!
