Hey guys. Just got back from from Best Buy. While I was there, I spoke with the Mobile Dept. The guy I spoke with told me that my local paper on Saturday morning (as we dont get papers on Sundays) will have their best buy insert in it. I normally get the paper at my house around 3AM. I asked him if he could confirm that the Thunderbolt was in this weeks insert. He paused for a few seconds and said "I really can't say anything, but if you want that device, I'd grab your paper as soon as you get it." I will keep everyone posted at 3!!

Sweet I will be forsure waiting what u find in the paper, I don`t get a paper lol

Well, I just got the paper the Thunderbolt is in the Best Buy insert. It has NOTHING on it tho! It is the exact ad that has been floating around the forums! It just says "COMING SOON" with no price or anything. It doesn't even say when the hell we can pre-order!! I guess I will call them today to see what they say...

lol! that's funny

Ok everyone. I just got back from Best Buy. I had my BB flier in hand. I spoke with the mobile manager about the Thunderbolt. He told me that when they open tomorrow they will be taking deposites on the Thunderbolt. He told me that the pricing will not show up in the computer until tomorrow and that all that preorder will receive the device on the 14th. He was very knowledgeable and was using a rooted custom Inc. So, I will be back tomorrow morning to put deposits on two!!!

That sounds like no internet preorders. Hmm.

can you get it on a 1-year contract there?

From what I could gather last week from a Costco kiosk, availability of 1-year plans stopped on Jan 14th or so.

Really hoping there is no lag between availability at VZ and Costco, because I'll be exchanging up from my Droid X.

First they have not gotten rid of 1 year contracts. They have gotten rid of the annual upgrade that was available to people on a 2 year contract.

If you were on a 2 year contract, after 12 months you could upgrade at 2 year pricing (+ a $20 upgrade fee) to a new phone. Doing so required you to enter into a new 2 year contract. It effectively extended your original contract by another year. That is what they have gotten rid of.

You now have 2 choices: 2 year contract (upgrade in 20 months) or 1 year contract ($50-70 higher than 2 year but upgrade in 10 months).

As far as Costco, I don't think they'll be carrying it as Best Buy is the exclusive third party retailer.

think he is referring to non vzw stores, which I believe is correct. Only 2 yr @ bb, Costco etc.

Maybe, but the Jan. 14th (actually Jan. 16th) date he is referring to is when Verizon dropped annual upgrade, NE2, & switched to 14 return period. And as far as I've heard BB never did 1year contracts.

If you already have a primary line that is one year in your primary lines upgrade wont be taken away and you can use it one last time. Also you can sign a one year contract with it at vzw.

I was always told that you had to sign a new 2 year contract when using the annual upgrade, and that makes sense. If you used your annual upgrade at month 12 of your 2 year contract, then end date of the new contract (for the new phone) would be the same as the end date of the current one.

Now if you're talking about one year contracts there is no annual upgrade because the contract ends at one year.

I know I can use it one last time, but that will come due the end of April. My plan is to get the Tbolt at retail, and use it until my regular upgrade date in December, when I will see if there is anything that catches my fancy.

The guy I spoke with via phone told me I could sign a one year contract on my primary line. I asked again just for clarification before getting off the phone lol. I am currently on a two year contract. But will get the thunderbolt on a one.

New to the forum and have been anxiously watching for the Thunderbolt release so I can switch over to Verizon. I called a couple Verizon stores in Pittsburgh. One told me they had a release day of the 10th, but it got moved back somewhere toward the end of the month. Others had no idea.

That's surprising, they're basically giving you a subsidized phone without a contract extension (+ the 2 to 1 year price difference).

That is exactly what I was told as well.
