Official Motorola Atrix Review Thread!!

Taken from my wife's iphone 4..I hope the Atrix 4G will reach these speeds! PS: I live in a small town in PA, 45 minutes from Philly.

In which direction? Josh was actually saying that he was thinking about ditching his iPhone for the Atrix.

josh also gave the verizon iphone a 9/10 because "its an iphone" and "its the best smart phone in america"

Im hoping im wrong, but with the reviewers coming across some bugs and what not, i feel its going to get a lower review than it deserves

That's always been the case with Android in general though. Reviews since the G1 have always had an either spoken or latent "it's no iPhone" air. The reviews tend to focus on the issues they come across on Android, but then number the glories of the iPhone as if reading off the press release. I have found that the smaller the reviewing company (and phonedog) the more reliable their review is.

[EDIT] I think what saved Android on Phonedog was that Noah loved the notification pane and widgets.

Engadget review will be the most informative? I think that post was missing the #sarcasm tag, because the poster surely cannot have been serious about that.

Motorola sent them an Atrix in an Apple box, so they'll be gushing about it before they even turn it on :D

So have there there been any reviews on the battery?????

sites have only had the phone for a couple days so it's hard to really judge battery life, I'd expect to be mentioned in the engadget review since they haven't finished evaluating it yet. I'm hoping it's a little better than the average android device.

yea i'd like more on the battery, camera quality and audio quality as well as just a general walkthrough of the core apps. I had the Droid X and loved it, I'm assuming this is similar.

I read somewhere that it is pretty much the same battery as the Droid X, so that's a good start. We'll see how full motoblur and tegra2 balance things out.

I was just listening to the Engadget podcast and Josh said the review should be up tomorrow or Monday. He didn't really hint at what he thought of the device other than saying it's basically going to be an epic review.

Cool, we shall see. He definitely spent a lot of time with it.

Well opinions are opinions. All I know is that the Engadget reviews of products I am interested in (not that many) seem to be on par with other sites and will usually hit on something that the other sites, or at least some of them, missed. When I say "informative" in this case, I mean the fact that they are at least taking some time to really use the phone as most of us will and can give a more in depth review than just a quick after 24 hours run through, although we can all appreciate those as well.

^To me, phonearena and Anandtech do better jobs of reviewing than Engadget. I usually go to them. Those 2 usually are more in depth with battery life times. Phonearena has been lacking with that lately for some reason...

Engadget reviewed the LG 2X and didnt get into the gesture features, which I think are very nice and something ppl should know about. Phandroid covered it...Engadget missed it.

I can guarantee if the gesture feature on the LG 2X were a feature of the iPhone....Engadget woulda been all over it...

I keep checking their site as well. Hopefully we will all hear something this weekend. I feel Engadget's review will be the most informative of them all.

As much as I like Engadget - they are really late to the game with this review. the phone goes on presale tomorrow and I'm sure many people (including me) wanted to read their review prior to pre-ordering the phone tomorrow morning. Oh well. I plan on ordering anyway...it just would have been nice if they had gotten this out today.

It comes with an HDMI cable.. (the LG 2X does too) I hope the Bionic follows suit too...

Even for it not being a complete review (the reviewer's words..) It was decent. Seems like the software at this stage is a lil more stable on the Atrix vs. the LG 2X.

Pentile for the screen....all I can say is if I get this phone I wont be getting it on launch day. I got to do some extended hands on viewing with the screen.

And the camera has gotten better with Motorola phones since the Droid 1. The X's camera is ok. (dont know about the Droid 2 or Pro)
