Root Liberty 1.5 possessed?

Probably an issue with people flashing to Apex maybe since a lot of people are doing that today.

this may be cause from anyone restoring a liberty 1.5 backup coming from Apex

has not been confirmed yet but so far it is making sense... still working on clarifying this but anyone trying to restore a backup of liberty coming from apex be prepared for now

apparently the script possibly looks for a file in /system/lib/ which when installing apex it may overwrite in that area therefore activating this script causing this issue

highly doubt it, what if you needed your phone for an emergency at the time you did something to invoke this?

It does seem date related since people are now seeing it today vs. any other day by the sounds of it pretty benign actions. Is there another script that shows how this gets kicked off?

Root Explorer will not allow me to delete. Can I name it anything or does it need to be lib_____?

Any name suggestions.

I actually did this yesterday and nothing happened so goes back to your theory about today being the day.

lol yeah it seems like a fair number of people that this has happened to have restored a backup of liberty from apex...
not everyone, but a fair number have said thats what happened

I did not restore from ApeX. It has been since 12/16/2010 I have had any version of Apex on my phone. I had been running Liberty 1.5 since about a week after it came out.

like I said, not everyone. but a lot of people this is happening to are coming from apex restoring liberty....
theres still something about the date and time though thats weird... all have happened this afternoon/evening.... none before... wtf
 
This is just i minor bump in the road. I look at it like this. if it had happened to me I would just SBF and start over. I will be interesting to see what the liberty team says. This rom has been rock solid for me. I was temped to run ApeX 1.4 just to say i had run it but i really have no reason to leave Liberty ATM.

It does suck for those that had this happen but its not a permanent brick so at least take comfort in that.

while im pretty sure the code is there in response to what happened before with someone trying to kinda sorta rip of their stuff... I really feel this code was in extremely poor taste....

I don't feel right about this. I appreciate their work a lot, but this is essentially a malicious script. I really don't want to make a firm statement because I really like those devs work... but its hard not to reserve any judgment on this. Its a breech of trust in my opinion. I wish they didn't use their scripting knowledge against us. I feel like when it comes to scripting knowledge you have to decide weather or not to be good guy or bad guy... not both. I know some windows hacking, but I would never think of bundling it into something I publicly distributed to be who trusted me. That's wrong. I want to defend the devs, but its difficult to try and spin it another way. If its a joke, I certainly am not laughing. This gives me an

ok im still not understanding three things after his apology though.... 1 why did it happen to everyone tonight? 2 if it was only supposed to google the liberty 1.5 awesome.... whats with everything else in the script that he didnt explain? 3 why did this only happen to some peoples phones running liberty and not everyones phone running liberty?
