Wifi Only XOOM?

If the quote is correct. He said $600.... why quote in dollars in you aren't going to sell in the US.

I wouldn't worry too much about the US not getting the WiFi only version. It is almost a must if Moto/Google want to jump into the ring with Apple.

Check this out, it isn't much but it was posted in a different thread. There are TWO place holders on the Xoom site of Best Buy...that's GOTTA be a WiFi only and the 3G+WiFi.

Really nice find. Do you think that's the preorder spot or will we have to go to Best Buy to preorder the thing? Man, I hope that my best buy gets the wifi version.
 
That sucks, I hope they don't look at me like I'm an idiot when I ask them about it, like they did a couple of weeks ago. I'll probably stop in today on my way home from work today to see if they are getting anything. They probably have no clue

By the way, I really miss Hotlanta....

I understand and I know what you mean. I dont think anyone will believe it is TRUE until the 20th gets here and we all pour into out local stores to preorder. I guess my opinion is that we have about 4 sources between employees, photos and interviews all pretty much saying the same thing.
 
Just out of curiosity, is this some thing I need to get there really early to preorder? I mean will they run out of preorders to get it on release or will there be a 1000 people in front of me?

If the Internet is to be believed, you can probably stroll in around closing time on the 20th and be the first person to preorder one that day.

Given the shifting dates and the high pricepoint, I'd be shocked if Best Buy received enough preorders to justify doing a presale at all.

At this point, my plan is to travel to the next state over from me (no sales tax) and buy the Xoom on Saturday the 26th. If the wifi is not released yet then my decision is made for me as I will buy the 3G then. I plan on being at the store about 8:30AM, 30 minutes before opening. Not because I fear a rush on the Xoom but because the store is always jammed with people at opening with phone stuff and I want to grab my Xoom and go.

Now - if there are crowds on sale day (sales start Thursday, right?) and Friday my plans may change slightly.

I may also call the store on Friday and ask then to hold a Xoom and a portfolio case aside for me, giving them my credit card number as insurance.

Sounds like an adventure!! :D Your mission is simple get a Xoom 3G but if the Wifi version is there...that'll be great! No matter what, at least it'll probably be a better experience than what you had waiting for the NI.

I'll be waiting for your impressions.
 
my plan is to hit best buy early on the 24th. however if they don't have any due to pre-sale just hit up a verizon store. so far i haven't heard anything about verizon doing any kind of pre-sale which means first come first serve and i will be there first to server :-) the only problem with verizon stores is the employees there always set aside a bunch for themselves and friends, but there are alot of verizon stores near me so i am not worried. What is odd is we have all these buy leaks but haven't had any verizon store leaks in several weeks, seems odd.

i am hoping, hoping motorola pushed the announcement and pre-sale to sunday so that it coincided with mailers in the paper and best buy ads etc... however if sunday comes and goes without any offical announcement we can all kiss the 24th goodbye.
 
So will there be WiFi only Xooms available at Best Buy or Verizon? With no word on the street from Verizon, the WiFi Xoom appears to be unclear.

Ok. The more I think about it the more I think I would prefer the wifi only and save the $200. I'm open to getting the 3G if the wait is long but I think I might try to force myself to wait at least a couple weeks past release date to see what happens with wifi.

Who knows. In two days I may change my mind again several times. I really really want one of these. My head says to wait for wifi. My addiction to this thing say buy now.
 
me too! But I also want a BN Color Nook, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy 10.1 and even an ipad. Want them all to mess with and stay up till 3am every night! :D
