Why would BB need demo phones when the launch phones will be all gone due to preorders? Demo phones arrival at BB on the 27th must be post launch
Why would best buy need demo phones for a launch product? Come on. Because the average person wants to hold and play with an electronic device before they pay several hundred dollars for it. And no, the "well, there's no restocking fee!" argument is ridiculous (not saying you used it, just saying).
It's not about the free return, it's about the hassle of the return. I don't want to buy something that I can't use to see if all the video hands-on and blogger accounts of the pre-launch units are accurate.
I don't see how that's in any way illogical.
You can test drive a car before you buy it.
You can play with the iPad at the Apple store before you buy one.
You can generally try on clothes before you buy them. You can certainly try on shoes.
You can generally play with most laptops before you buy them.
Why should phones be any different? Seriously, set aside ONE unit for demo per store. I would hardly consider it something that would cause a shortage (e.g. having one less unit for sale).
