Just Downloaded FROYO 2.2 via Kies Mini

Not that I'm aware of. On the other hand, there are a lot of apps that will work in 2.2 that didn't work on 2.1 (like any that require Adobe Air).

OK I found the setting on the phone. Need to go into setting and then in the USB tab there was a button for Kies Update. Now when I connect the phone the Kies software on the PC recognizes it. Downloading the update as I write this
 
My update got stuck at 105 and was there for about 15 minutes. Did a force shut down. I'm now on some sort of emergency recovery mode in Kies. I wish it had been a simple process but oh well.
 
Is the Android keyboard with the voice input button still present in 2.2? I had read that Samsung and/or AT&T were going to remove that.
 
Ok, hadn't seen it, but I went ahead and updated using kies full (ver 1.5.3.10093_82) as I didn't want to put the mini version on my laptop (32 bit windows 7 pro). Everything worked fine. Kies showed me the update and ran it smoothly. Phone is up and working running Froyo. Was stock before upgrade.
 
I can't get Kies mini to see my device unless I put it in debugging first..anybody else have that? Windows 7 laptop

Also, make sure if you're running LauncherPro or another home replacement that you exit it and have TouchWiz launcher running.

Nothing was happening for me until I switched out to TW and activated Kies from Setting instead of the popup.

And I turned Tasker off for good measure, too.
 
Seems fine on this end. Phone is noticeably faster - at least for me. Tried GPS and it locked faster than it ever did before but I never really used it all to much to be honest.

Overall I am happy. If they pull it no worries, it is better so far than 2.1
 
So far everything seems to running good. I have two captivates (funny story behind that one) so it'll be good to have a stock one, and another to "play" with.

yes, it would be akin to using odin to flash back to stock.

That is exactly what the instructions say to do.....

While the computer is restarting, we will need to configure the phone so that Kies Mini can talk to it. Follow the steps below:
  1. On the phone, USB Debugging should be enabled. To do this, go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Tap Ok to the message.
  2. Plug the cable into the phone and then into the computer. The computer should detect new hardware and install automatically. It will do this for several devices and may take a few moments.
  3. Unplug the cable from the phone and power off the device. Hold down both the volume up & down keys while inserting the data cable. The phone will enter a Downloading mode. The computer will then install the rest of the driver files. If there is a problem with Windows finding the driver, let it search online to grab them. Once the computer has finished, unplug the device from the computer, remove the cover, remove the battery, insert the battery, and place the cover back on. Lastly, power on the device.
  4. Restart the computer.
 
Hi All,

Any ideas on why I'm getting stuck on 10%? The instructions clearly state not to disconnect the phone or computer but what do you do when things get stuck?

After updated to 2.2, can you still sync Microsoft Outlook with the Captivate using Kies ver 1.5.3.10093_82?

My Captivate is rooted and unlocked. Has anyone done a 2.2 update with a rooted and unlocked Captivate yet?
 
Loving the new features... bout time.

Anyway, does anyone have an icon in the app drawer of an arrow with a "click" action and the text says "This file is read-only"? When I click it, it is QuickOffice. Anyone else's QuickOffice like this? Would I need to uninstall and reinstall QuickOffice? Thanks guys.
 
What are the apps that I've been missing out on that are Froyo-only? My download is in progress now :)
