do you know what stage verizon is at as far as having the items packaged and ready to be shipped to stores? do you know if the advertising team is planning on doing anything more before the release? do you know if there is any other training or system updates needed before the phone can actually go on sale? is verizon going to individually update the firmware before shipping? or will they do it at the time of activation?

there are an infinite amount of things that could still hold the tb up even if all the firmware was perfect. there is alot more to releasing a phone than just having a working phone

According to the HTC CEO they already shipped. According to BMX THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO DO THEY ARE READY. And the firmware will be updated OTA obviously.. But im with you NCX im just getting of these forums for the day..

It's most people's thoughts that these have been packaged for a while. Most likely once you go to purchase yours in store, it is up to BB or VZW reps to update firmware before handing the phone over.

you didn't comprehend my post. the phones may very well be ready, but that doesn't mean that verizon is ready to release it yet.

is the marketing done. are the employees trained enough. are the systems updated to actually sell the phones. the list of possible hick ups is endless

that could very well be, but none of us know for sure.

With all the information that has been out I think all of that has been done. HTC's CEO has already confirmed shipping. BMX has stated firmware and network are tight. Marketing tipped their hand last week. If vzw were to recall all the phones to update instead of OTA, we will never see this phone. The cost would be over the top. IMO

they aren't in stores yet so they still have to be shipped. that most likely refers to them being shipped to verizon distribution warehouses.

I'm not saying I know anything for sure. All I am trying to say is that there are still plenty of reasons for this thing to be delayed further, so just be patient and wait on the official word

It is beyond ready. The dummy phones (which VZW always has dummy phones with release date on them as far as I know) all say Feb 14th.
unless you work on the marketing team there is no way to 100% know if marketing is done. do I think marketing is done IMO? yes. I am just offering possible things that could still hold the phone up a little longer

Not quite a year ago, I was waiting for the Blackberry Tour 2 to be released from Verizon. They kept pushing back the release while never announcing an actual release date. I finally got so fed up I bought the Incredible when it came out and never looked back.
However, I believe Verizon did pretty much the same thing with the Tour 2, they just announced it and bang it was out. No previously announced release date, just announced and dropped. Maybe they'll do it again with the TBolt.

I'm very much looking forward to this phone but I can certainly wait for the time when it's available. I love my Incredible and I'm sure I'm going to love the TBolt even more.

 Not on marketing team, but when commercials are playing, materials are being sent, I am 99.99% sure marketing is done and was probably do prior to CES.

considering it is their first 4G LTE device I highly doubt they will just launch it without an announcement or marketing the crap out of it. I know it's the Thunderbolt but a BANG launch doesn't make sense...

I am just taking my shots in the dark like everyone else right now. With that being said, I still want the phone but the further the delay, the more competition it will have as far as features and price. There has to be some bean counter somewhere that is pulling their hair out watching this launch cost a ton of money for vzw.

lol I am not specifically talking about marketing here, I'm just saying that there are things that could still still possibly hold it up.

To go along with this, Oldskool is right, the longer this phone is delayed, the more money VZW loses. That makes me use my magical ability of logic to determine that they want to get the phone out ASAP.

That being said, all of our info at this point was pointing to the delay being because of a specific glitch that was fixed yesterday.

They launched the Xoom with 2 days notice, eventhough it is a very important high profile device.

I can very easily once again use my amazing powers of logic to determine a Thursday release with a Tuesday announcement is quite possible for this week.

However, yes garnto you are right, we might not see the phone this week. I am just pointing out it is a likely possibility.

I do, however, agree that this will not be a drop and launch like the Tour 2, I do believe there will be some sort of official announcement at least a couple days prior to the release due to the high profile of this phone.

Recycling ;) -

I read a news blog story the other day that Verizon has learned Apple's way of release deception to increase pent-up demand.

Today's events seem to confirm a certain logic to that, in my opinion.

You guys are overlooking the obvious, Somali pirates have hijacked the shipment of HTC phones from China...

...using the GPS to track them, on their new Incredible2's--which to add insult to injury--were announced & showed up in Verizon's system w/i 48 hours of each other :)

I don't necessarily agree with this. Not saying it isn't true, just that there is a different school of thought here. Sure some people might get fed up waiting and move on, but as more and more people get upset, news becomes more widespread. As this happens, more of the "general" public gets wind of the phone and all of a sudden it becomes the hot item that people have to have.

Stuff like this spreads like wildfire. For a lot of companies, it can be a risky strategy, but it can also work immensely in their favor, and in those cases, it's marketing genius. Would I ever run a business like that? No, but it can be profitable.

Besides, everyone who jumps ship now to another carrier, will most likely be willing to jump ship again if another phone comes out that they want. And for those that move on and just get another phone on VZ, how is that a loss for them? They're still with VZ and they are actually helping them get through old stock to make room for newer phones. By the summer or fall those people might even pay full retail for another, more impressive phone.

I honestly feel this is far from a PR nightmare for VZ. They're large and successful enough to sustain any "damage" that this release supposedly might cause.

Not sure if any of you read the NY times, but this is an extreme case of bad publicity = profitability (although this guy is now in jail I believe):

Agreed. A month ago, the TB didn't seem to have much competition as far as the sort of phone I was looking for. Now, as it gets pushed back further and further, I'm keeping a close eye on some of these new phones that Verizon may end up with...

There some guy over at AC saying hes from Verizon and put together a nice subliminal message hinting he was told March 10th as the release date at work today. Let's see what other Android sites post that as an "anonymous" source. HAHA
