Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Hi, Thanks for the tips with the Android driver. I actually allowed windows to search for the driver itself and it installed the google usb driver automatically. It seemed to work!!

I now have 2.3.3 installed. I found I needed to setup the APN before the phone would connect to the wifi. I did not expect that, but I noticed that the phone signal strength bars and the wifi indicator was white in colour before the APN was setup. Then with the APN both turned green.

I did not have a problem with voice search in 2.3.2, but now it does not work. When I go to market to install voice search it says it is already installed. How should I fix the problem?

I really like 2.3.3 because it has the battery level display in the status bar. Thanks Mur4ik.

video works for me i have camera 360 installed ?

ive to music vids on sd card they also work u could try restartin the phone !
 
Hi all,

I've found a fix for the camera button so you can take pictures with it in the native camera application here it is:

Download this Zip, camerabuttonfix1.5.zip.zip - SwiftDroid
Extract the two files and place in the sd card of the phone.
Open Root Explorer and Move the two files from the sd card to /system/usr/keylayout by long press the file and selecting move from the menu that appears then find the folder above and mount the folder as read/write and selecting paste at the bottom of the screen then long press the file again this time select permissions and change the permissions of both files to look like this.

Group R

Others R

Then reboot the phone.

Ok well i have found if you plug the usb cable into your phone and select to transfer files from pc to phone and open the folder on th SD card called DCIM and create a new folder called Videos and place your videos in to this folder then turn off usb and go to gallery on your phone you sould see Videos listed then select your video and it plays ok.... Well at least on my phone

So no need for third party apps

It can play videos only captured with cam.Other formats dont work.
 
arghh.. i was hoping this new update would fix my sd card problem... i STILL have problems with my sdcard... it's an 8gb, so i know that's a problem, but i also tried 1gb and 2gb cards and none of them worked!... anyone know what might be causing this problem?
 
hi, I am using 2.1 singapore rom. I want to know whether CM7 support korean and chinese. and which KDZ updater can i use ? Thanks!
 
dudeman, in the post the list which says does not work why is there FM radio but in the change log the FM radio is included?? is the radio working already or not??

What format of videos are you trying to play, because what i put in the previous message worked for my phone with 3gp files i am going to try with mp4 and other formats later but if they don't work you can always convert your videos to a 3gp format first.

Hi, I have tried to reinstall Voice Search, but now I get the force close message. When I press the microphone button on the keyboard when sending an SMS the microphone symbol is crossed out. (It did this initially - still does it after the reinstall) When I press the voice search button I get the choice between messaging and voice search. Then if I select voice search I get the force close message.

Is anyone else getting this? Maybe I need to turn on the feature? Please help.

Thanks also for the camera button fix. I notice that the camera does not turn on with the camera button, but the shutter works ok.

I remember reading that it does support symplified chinese. You may want to claify this though.

Thats strange my camera turns on with the camera button and the shutter works.
Make sure you set the permissions correctly for both files.

As for voice search uninstall and then reboot then install then reboot and if it still doesn't work correctly uninstall again then reboot and then install and reboot again. Hopefully it works for you because this is the only fix at the moment.

I can fill in for dudeman here, hope its ok?

Yes FM radio works you must plug in a wired headset though because it works as the antenna. He probably didn't get around to changing everything in the first post yet because he is enjoying the smoothness of v1.5 to much to put the phone down. :D
