Root Velocity - Likes, Dislikes, and Suggestions

My only real complaint is the clock font which can be changed relatively easily. Battery life seems a little worse than when I was running punisher before the 2.2 days, but not much different, and no worse than stock. I don't overclock at all though. Its an extremely stable ROM for me. Almost perfect. You guys did a great job.

NOTE: Things I've noticed with Velocity that probably have nothing to do with Velocity... occasionally the physical keyboard will mess up and stop working. Typically the phone reboots shortly after, although sometimes I have to reboot it myself. My Twitter Widget for Launcher Pro stopped working correctly. It just constantly refreshes. I think that is a Launcher Pro problem, but it stopped around the time I started with Velocity. These two things more than likely have nothing to do with Velocity, but I figured I'd put them here to see if anyone else had similar issues.

I dont know if its just me but ive always been interested in dsp manager and it came with velocity 1.0 but i do not believe it works

Well Honestly there is not alot thats wrong with this masterpiece.
However the one thing I do HATE!!!!
is the Rebooting and losing all of my app icons. I then have to reboot again and they are back. So basically the SD card keeps acting as if it is being ejected. And of course it always happens at the worst moments. LOL

Anyway other than that its Awesome. :D

Sounds like your sdcard is about to kick the bucket. You using DTapps2sd?

I honestly sat here and tried to think of something I didn't like because I'd like to see it improved but I honestly couldn't.

What I like the most is absolutely the scripts. Completely intuitive and easy to use. Great work guys...

There really isn't anything negative to say other than the nitpicky "preform" typo. Supposedly this was addressed weeks ago but mine still says it. I have checked the Velocity scripts menu several times on whether there is a newer ROM version and it always says I have the latest version. However, I am running V1.0 and I noticed, Trident, your sig says 1.1.

Other than that, Velocity v1.0 has made my phone totally satisfactory. I can't think of anything I would change. In fact, the only thing I can think of is that it seems to have eliminated the need for any new ROMs to be developed!

What I love is easy, the scripts. They make doing certain things a piece of cake.

Can't say there is anything I hate. The ROM works flawlessly.

As for changes, the only one that comes to mind is better internal storage space management. What I mean by that is i'm beta testing another ROM and with the exact same apps loaded on each, I only have 88mb of internal storage space left using Velocity. With the other beta ROM, I have 122mb of internal storage space left. I am not using apps2sd with either ROM so that has nothing to do with it. And not being knowledgable about the technical side of these ROMs, I don't know why there is that big a difference between the two.

Pretty much all positives here. I have the issue listed above where my phone reboots almost every time I use the camera. Haven't cleaned and reinstalled yet, waiting for the next update.

That space difference is most likely dalvik2cache, enable it in the velocity script and you should see similar results

A suggestion I thought of for the scripts (and I'm not sure this is possible) but it would be nice to auto-backup apps on a regular schedule to the sd card. Is it possible to set up cron jobs in Android? Cause that would be sweet...

Just a thought

Mine was doing that same type of crap for a while and I completely formatted it (on a PC), reinstalled everything, and its been great.

These reboot issues concern me. I had not been able to replicate them until today when it randomly performed a soft reboot while I was trying to wired tether.

I cannot get it to do it again, if someone can reproduce reboots while doing a repeatable action please post what you did, and if you can a logcat.

I have been running it since it came out, and have only had one reboot. It was last week, and the phone was just sitting there not being used and it just randomly shut down and restarted.

Last night, we had some storms and our power was out. I was using wireless tether so my wife could use her laptop, I had Tune in Radio running to listen to the Hockey game, and I was playing some games on it and I did not have a single problem, or any lag.

I do not overclock, and have not had any problems with that one exception.

Before I go anywhere with this, I want to say how grateful I am for the 1.0 update for Velocity. My phone lasts longer than it ever has, it looks sexy and I enjoy all the bloatware is successfully removed without me having to do it myself (because I know I'd screw up somewhere).

I only have a few problems that someone might even be able to answer for me:

For one, when I'm using my screen to text, I text fast. But while I'm texting, I'll see that the phone will double a few letters. If I'm texting "application," I get to "app" and then it finished my text as, "appapplication." It does this a few times -- it actually happens very frequently. It doesn't happen when I'm using my keyboard, I believe (at least I haven't seen it do this while using the physical keyboard). It just gets annoying, because I tend to text novels (thank you, Verizon, for the idea of unlimited texting <3), and being told "ananimal" doesn't make sense...? Yeah, it happens to me too frequently.

Sometimes when I make calls I can't end them, so I have to restart my phone

I have encountered this problem a few times, but it normally happens when I'm urgently waiting for a call/text from someone. My touch screen just stops working and I'm forced to reboot my phone (which isn't hard, since I can use my keyboard to do it).

Ability to customize pull down bar text (where it says "Velocity")

This too. I support Velocity, but it's just there and takes away the sexy from the look. It'd be nice to have something like the SwitchPro widget, or your own custom "Hello, [ENTER NAME HERE]!"

Not sure if it has to do with Velocity or Froyo but when I listen to pandora volume decides to turn itself down randomly. Other than that, I love Froyo with Velocity!

I love it the only problem if any i have is the lockscreen is a bit lag (may be my machine can't tell.) The only thing I want is Honeycomb based theme.
