Root Velocity - Likes, Dislikes, and Suggestions

is there a thread on how to use these scripts bkuz I'm oblivious to it. my phone drags & my widgets randomly won't load. I have no clue about OC'n either...

Maps shows up in Velocity under "Applications"> "Manage applications" but doesn't in stock froyo because it is built into ROM and you have to root to remove it. It just seems it would take up more memory for apps the way its done in Velocity, but I could be wrong, I'm still learning.

Yes I know I set mine in velocity also... it seems still at 600 till setcpu kicks in.... I like setcpu as I can change the speed at the click..... Instead of having to go to emulator the su then velocity then opt 2 I belive (off top of my head sorry if wrong.....) then set the speed..... so Im not only using setcpu..... I was just like what the.... when the guy said setcpu is for lazy people... It comes in handy..... when I need more juice for certain apps.....
 
My only suggestion for Velocity at this point is to port it to other hardware. This is by far my favorite custom setup I have had on any android phone, but my Ally's days are numbered.
 
my phone drags when i come out of an app i.e. Dolphin Browser HD(this drags while using it) & my widgets randomly won't load sometimes & especially if i reboot. is this bkuz those apps are on my sd card?

Widgets should never be ran from your sdcard. Move them to your phone in applications/manage applications.
 
Pros:
Everything is great. Moreso im just waiting on the development of more themes, etc.
Cons:
But since installing velocity, my gps doesnt work. i cant get weather or driving directions. :(
 
after having an epiphany & figuring out how to use the scripts I finally have it OC'd & running the Gingerbread Red theme. in the words of the infamous Charlie Sheen, Velocity 1 is WINNING !

You can look at this or contact the developer of Handcent as it seems to be a problem with their software and Android 2.2.1 FAQ

Its not an issue with handcent.... its an issue with the system... handcent isnt the only messenger that does this i have been looking through the sdk docs in my spare time to try and fid the program

The lockscreen showing unread messages isn't a bug or even an issue. Its doing exactly what it was designed to do. If you don't like the stock sms program then thats just something you have to deal with, or you could get a different lockscreen.
 
A theming thing I think would be interesting is if more icons were including in the theming. In my dock, I have Phone, SMS, Browser, and GMail icons, and the first three are green like the stock theme whereas the last stands out very much. Also, when changing themes, their color does not change at all.

Nice ROM though :)

Well its a bug as google didn't think we would use other apps for sms...... Well they were wrong.....

Yes it may appear that we "have to deal (it)" Nothing is impossible..... No body on here (that we know of) has found the answer to this yet. Its open sourced software..... I bet you the answer is changing one simple line of code...... and just think the person that finds the answer could give the answer out of the kindness of there heart or charge lots of money and make millions :D

Im sure the great Trident would be able to put something together in a short time..... it only requires building it into a new firmware haha . Like I said it is possible just not probably to happen.... Don't believe me go to http://developer.android.com and search lock screen....

I've only had velocity 1.0 for a day so I may be back to amend this thread later. But right now this update has been awesome.

The biggest change for me has been the ability to oc. Up until now I've never been able to do it. Setting anything above 600 resulted in rebooting loops of agony and never ending kernal panics. Now I can run stable at 748 while multi tasking. I don't know what changed I always just figured I got stuck with a crap chip.

The new scripting system is awesome. It is so much better now and the ability to update them so easily is ideal. I just hope any future rom updates are as smooth.

I really don't have any major suggestions as my phone pretty much everything I need it to do. Someone mentioned a gui based script system and I think someone else mentioned more theme options, I wouldn't object to either idea really.



- Now if you could figure out how to get me flash, netflix, and a snapdragon upgrade on my ally you sir would be a God ;)

This was happening to me. I think the phone switches between the android and gingerbread keyboard and I haven't figured out why. So, I unchecked android keyboard in settings->language & keyboard. I then froze android keyboard in TIBU for over a month with no noticable issues and am comtemplating removing it entirely. Not sure why we need two.

The keys aren't getting smaller, its the letters within the keys. It's a bug with Gingerbread Keyboard that hasn't been fixed.
