[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

Just loaded up 3/14 - it is nice! Love vanilla and using ZEAM.
But, I do get reboots after 10 min of using GPS.
Any fixes or hacks to fix this?
Also, I'm not rocking any kernel at the moment, should I?

I don't have a great answer for the gps reboots. There seem to be two plaguing issues with this rom. Some have them , some don't. 1) gps reboots 2) black screens on incoming calls/occasionally in menus.

Read lots of tricks tried over on xda, but nothing seems to work better than clean wipe and reinstall.

I have had one gps reboot in 6 uses. No black screen issues. I'm still running 3/8, stock kernel, firerat mod. It's really running great and I can't come up with a reason to change.

You guys will like the blunder I did tonight, you know how I preach to all not to format your SD card when going into partitions, well guess what I did by mistake, they should move the SD card one to the bottom, and when you do hit a prompt they should notify what you are doing before you hit the track ball, thank god I had a back up of my SD card from 2 months ago, or I would have been SOL. I guess chit happens, LOL

DOH! Well atleast you get props for having some sort of backup. Your right should be some type of "ARE YOU SURE" warning.

Bummer. I missed by one awhile back, but caught itbefore I confirmed. Theres room for improvement on the ui. Maybe today is a good day for me to back up my card! Thanks for the reminder.

Btw: after I backup, can I just format and restore what I want ? Is there anything rom related I need to restore? Not running a2sd.

Yep simply backup and save, then you can format, once formatted it keeps all the Android folders needed, so you simply replace those with the most recent, as my back up was 2 month old, but yes a backup is a must. It did ask me for confirmation but when you are hitting OK it does not tell you what your confirming, if it would say you sure you want to format SD card, then I could of backed out, but it does not, I tried it again to see and did not say SD card any where when I had to confirm. ;) Hey I am not the only one as I found out in the IRC, Deca has done it before and many others, so I don't feel so bad, LOL

Aside from losing pictures and some nandroids, is there any real danger of formatting your sd? i always thought your phone could technically run without an sd card, that it didn't "need" anything from it.

That is correct the phone still works, but you loose the pictures and other things you have save on your Card, such as music etc... TB backups

No. It will not damage your microSD card.

It is just a big pain in the rear if you lose Nandroids that you rely on or your media, like pictures and songs. I fully backup my microSD card about once a month, and I backup important Nandroids even more often.

You first make a Nandroid backup, then you boot into recovery, then you wipe cache, davlik, then go to mounts and storage and format cache, back out, install Rom and then reboot

With these new releases do I just download and flash?

Any of you know what PRI you are running? I think you can only see it when in a sense rom. I am interested in updating mine. From what I am learning I have to unroot, get sprint update, then reroot. Anyone know of issues getting root with the latest sprint code?

Hmm. An 800% speed increase over stock Android 2.1 with Sense UI, eh?

I might have to give the vanilla AOSP Android 2.3 a try now because the changelog is touting how good it is. At the moment, I am still on the last version before AOSP Android 2.3 became vanilla.

There is a problem when I try to download the latest version from my phone. It keeps sending me to a warning screen and tells me the link is not available. I haven't tried with my cpu yet. Is this happening to anyone else?

Yea I'm getting the same warning screen as you are. I went ahead and clicked the link at the bottom of that page that says "at your own risk"and it took me to the download page. I had already upgraded so I didn't test to make sure the file works but it was the same size as my original download.

Link has been fixed....Flashers...lets keep flashing -
This thing is getting sleak only 46.7mb.....
Fast smooth and seems to be good on bat life.
Camera double tap FC fixed as is the incoming call black screen.
Nice performance tweaks as well....

For those on the fence.... DO IT

Oh wow...I hate to ask this as it's probably a dumb (read: question w/ obvious answer) question, but my wife's Hero has the 3/10 version and from what I've read the 3/22 version is the best. If I flash the latest release (3/23) that does include the 'fixes' in the 3/22 release...correct?

<cowers down in a corner fearing excommunication> :)

THATS IT - YOU'RE OUT!!!!!

3/10 -3/23 is basically going more towards vanilla Aosp....will slowly be striping out the CM Stuff..... My post above tells two of the fixes.

You would be safe to wipe Cache & Davlik then flash this rom.
If there is an error do a full format wipe (NOT THE SD CARD)

So you're saying don't do a 'DonB'? ;)
