Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

OK thanks for the help with recovery, I have managed to do that. However, I updated using: updatev1.7-cm-7.0.0-RC2-GT540-MUR4IK-signed . The update seemed to go well, but now when I switch on my phone, I get to a Cyanogen mod7 icon with an arrow going round in a circle. But that is as far as it goes. I cannnot get the phone to go any further. Any suggestions anyone? As I am nervous that I may have bricked my phone. Many thanks for any help.

It will do that for a while because it's the first boot after the update. Give it 5 mins and it should be fine :)

OK, I know I'm being a pain, but my phone has been locked into this icon for 15 minutes now with no change, any more advice on this problem?

And just to make things a bit more interesting 1.8 has been released

Here are the new things :
(+) Full support for memory cards with multiple partitions. Т.е. Ie working swap, ext, and a fully working application porting to flehu in any form, even for a fat, even at ext.
(+) Fix GPS, now the icon is all right.
(+) More correct rendering and display of battery charge
(+) A little more to increase productivity and responsiveness.
(+) Slightly redesigned sensors.

Latest:
Link for 1.8
For fastboot
For recovery (install zip from sd)

OK will do and will see what happens. Regretably, like an idiot, where only just got the recovery console working I didn't make a backup of my phone, so hopefully this will work. Many thanks for all your help.

The last time I saw that answered they said 245 on the low end and 806 on the high end. I set my phone to that and it seems to work well and still have good battery life.

You might try that and see what you think.

What should I set the 'Available governors'?

OK tried 1.8 but still no luck, the circling arrow has now been going for half an hour. If anyone can advice me on what to do, it will be very appreciated.
Many thanks
Ian

Yes I did, I held down the home button whilst starting the phone until the recovery console came up. I then selected install zip from SD card, then choose zip from SD Card. I then selected the recovery file and allowed the update to complete. I then restarted the phone, but it goes no further than the rotating arrow.

Looks like the CM7 part of your install is corrupt some how, your best move now i guess is to reflash the whole ROM again, including the updated clockwork.

Hiya all,
I have now got it working by clearing the cache on the recovery console. For some reason why, but it worked. But thank you all for your help, it is very appreciated.

Hehe, we got 3 updates in 4 days!! Though small but almost every bug is being eliminated. Hats off Mur4ik.
Am I dreaming or is this ROM really gonna be ported to kernel 32 or 35? If this happens then I'm the among the luckiest people to have this phone.

Also dudeman, can you add this link to the first post and your blog
http://www.petitiononline.com/CMGT540/petition.html
I found it XDA. It's petition claiming Official Support for our ROM from the CyanogenMod community. Please spread the word.

Also I appreciate your work too, like making EXE for simple installation and your own app for the updates. You're making it easy for all of us.

message settings tick the box use original timestamps hope that helps ??
Actually I'd already ticked 'Use Original Timestamps' and it was causing these problems. When I again unchecked it, rebooted my phone and received an SMS everything was fine then. :D
