2 different %'s !?
I have my screen set to 25% all the time. Opinions?

1hr 16mins @ 72% is almost 5 hours of display time total, i can get a little more than that running on my stock inspire.

Apparently disabling always on mobile data is a big battery saver. Before I turned it off, I would get 5 hours of display time. After turning it off last night and charging fully. I will get almost 7 hours of display time today, doing just as much usage as i normally would do.

I have found a solution to my battery issues!

I wrote in a number of threads that my battery life experience has been dismal. Off charger at 7:30A, and by 5pm i'm well below 30%. This is with very LIGHT usage. I exchanged the battery at AT&T within my 30 days, and saw ZERO improvement, meaning that something still had to be wrong with my phone/settings. And today i hit the jackpot.

It's ridiculously simple! Every time you reboot your phone, a number of a AT&T apps start up and run in the background. Killing those on start-up made my battery last TWICE AS LONG. Obviously rooting your phone will get rid of all this crap-ware, so this is for phones that have NOT been rooted.

1) Restart your phone
2) Go to Menu->Settings->Applications->Running services
3) Stop the following services:
AT&T mark the spot (if you have it)
AT&T Navigator ResourcePreloader
AT&T Hotspots WispService
Maps Rate Places

That's it. Obviously if you want to use these related apps, the services will start up again.
Also, if there are any other services that are running for other apps you may have, kill if not needed on startup!
Two others that were running for me on start up that i killed were a Signal Strength widget and a To Do List Sync (TaskOS).

I'm not feeling up to killing just one at a time to determine which one was the culprit, but if you want to, feel free.

If you are having battery issues, give this a try!

I've done the typical adjustment to the display brightness, and a few other things that didn't seem to do much, but this suggestion by far (along with eliminating LED notification for everything but v-mail) has increased my battery life SIGNIFICANTLY!

Thanks for sharing!

I've had my inspire for about 2-3 weeks now and have to say the battery SUCKS!!! Completely stripped of all its features, bells and whistles, display down to 25%, plus an auto task killer, I get at max 6 hours of light use. It's like a Porsche with a two gallon gas tank. Not to kick up another issue the speaker also blows. I'm about to clamp this phone in a mill and cut the back off and shove a 3000mah battery in there. I'm sure this a known issue, is there any word from htc about this failure in mobile phone battery application? And is there a fix. Plus this "grain of rice" speaker has got to go! Recall and fix this awesome but flawed phone!

OK for one don't believe you are getting 6 hours with light use and all that shut off etc etc.. two for the millionth time task killers on 2.2or later hurt battery life not help

Depends on what you call light use and what I call light use. And I have to use a task killer for programs like asphalt 5 keeps coming on and doing... something. Which also anoys me, why does a game (I never use) keep turning itself on and accessing the internet?

Its in the programing but I don't care how you define light use. 6 hours with all the settings down is.either nit light use or BS
The only other explainatiion is your phone or battery is faulty

I've also been able to get 30+ hours of battery life out of my phone, infact I went two full days once on one charge with moderate use.

My use was lower than how much I usually use my phone due to working those two days, but I was still very happy that my phone is capable of lasting so long.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how things are say 10 years from now, imagine if we could charge our phones once and be good for an entire week on that charge. Of course a new battery technology would have to be created to achieve such a thing, but with how fast things are moving at the moment with having dual core phones coming out. I can say I would believe you if you told me a phone ten years from now had a quad core processor running at 2 GHz, with 2 GB of RAM, 32 - 64 GB of internal storage, a full 1920 x 1080 resolution screen, full 1080p video capture (hell this is going to happen when the Galaxy S II comes out!) with 15 MP camera stills, and a battery that will last for atleast a week on one charge.

there are phones that will go close to a week..my old BB Bold would go easy 5 days. my old nokia also the same.

restarted and i do not have any of those running under running services

How about you define what you consider "light use". Also just because you see Asphalt 5 in your task killer doesn't mean the game is actually running in the background. Thats the problem with task killers, you start to see stuff in there that you don't use thinking "what the heck is this running for..end taks". Just because you see something in there doesn't mean its hogging battery or cpu at all. You just need to accept that this is how android just works, the more you close out these tasks, they just reopen which makes things less efficient.

Also I just want to add, if anyone feels that they aren't getting good battery life out of their Inspire, please post here in detail what settings you have and so forth. Plenty of people here would be willing to give advice on what settings to change that shouldn't really affect your usage while increasing the battery life.

If you are telling me that on a full charge you get a total of 6 hrs of battery life, I will tell you that you are either grossly exaggerating, or your definition of light usage is off. I got over 30hrs of battery over the last 2 days, which included my display being on for 4 hours (at 25% brightness).

This is pointless. Im taking this phone back. A phone's battery should be able to last at LEAST 24 hrs with every option ON! Not bragging about how people some how eeked 24 hours out of it turning everything off. I'm not alone here, I am in contact with 5 others that got our phones at the same time and we all get about the same dismal battery life (6-10 hours) the only one I know that is happy with his battery life went with the 3gs iPhone (what I left).

BTW I unplugged my phone to write the last message and at this moment I'm at 80% battery.

for one you shouldnt use your phone as it charges , two name a smartphone that goes at least 24hours your expectations are ridiculous. Three I dont have anything turned down and my syncs are all on my battery lasts me 12-15 hours easily with moderate to heavy use, thats texting all day, on the phandroid app and xda app all day, receiving emails for work and personal and some light you tube browsing. So like I said earlier your either exaggerating or something is faulty on your phone, because there is no way you have all those settings off and get only 6 hours

I also noticed if your phone stays at 2 bars and jumps from E to 3g and H+ you can just give it up you phone won't last at all.

Sorry kiddo. I'm raising the BS flag to full mast on that story. I tell you what, I'll give you 400 for your phone and if it actually lasts that long as you say with what you say is running then I'll believe you.

P.s. you should read my post. I didn't use it while it was plugged in.

Its not BS I and many others on here have the same experiences and if you read all the battery threads , Like I have told you, A) Task killer no good. B) have to charge the phone right C) if your battery still isnt good you have a faulty one return it like many did and get a new one fixed many peoples problems.
You seem to not want to do either just rag on the phone and not try to fix your situation. You want my phone give me 600 so I can then buy a new one and you can have it

Oh and by the way im not a kiddo im a 35 yr old man who owns his own business

Then sell me your phone and we will see. I can give you check cash or card. (Or a business check or card if you prefer) Till then its BS. And its not how old you are or what you have (sorry to kick up any insecurity you may have) but you saying "Well MY phone does this and MY phone has this on, you must be exaggerating (liar)" makes you a kiddo in my book. Prove it. I'm on my second battery and advanced task killer actually made my battery last at least 1 hr longer. The inspire battery life is also comfirmed with 5 others with the same phone each with different settings and apps. The most any of us got is 10 hrs with very light use.

P.s. my battery is down to 71% as of now.

Went to ATT and got another one, maybe the phone itself is defective, who knows. Because it seems when called out, no one stood up to backup what they said. Typical internet BSers. I'll bet ya don't even have the inspire 4g.

I'll grand your wish a leave, wouldn't want to make anyone look bad to their internet friends who defend them.
