Hw to reduce the android os battery consumption...????

Have you tried all the tweaks everyone has suggested?
Go back to last 5 pages even and start trying out the tweaks everyone's suggesting.

There is even a solution to that guys problem a few posts further up by me. Obviously the guy ain't read the thread much ^^ :)

No offense shubham007, but it is annoying to post the same stuff over and over again to people who just don't read the thread :)

So please take time to read the forum before asking like that.

So a thanks to charliejen for that last post ^^

PS! Here is link to my post in here, if you are too lazy to find it :p Continue reading a few posts under it as well, then maybe you will understand the system ^^

Im having serious battery issues with my desire hd ive only had it a month and im begining to regret purchasing it, i take it off charge at 3pm and by 4pm ive dropped 35% i get 5 hours out of my battery at most and thats only if i dont touch it, ive tried battery calibration and usb debugging and no help what so ever, as far as my battery break down the Adroid os normally runs at 57% and when it doesnt my display runs at 70%, Any suggestions would be great =s

Hey everyone. New Andriod user here. Got my HTC HD on Thursday evening. Really impressed with the phone itself like many people here are. I have noticed the battery slowly getting stronger past few days.

5th Charge:
Uptime Length: 11 hours 30 mins ( 4 bars left)
Accelerometer: On
3G Or 2G: 3G
Wireless: On
GPS On: Off
Automatic Brightness: Off (set at approx 40%)
Network: TELUS

P.S: Also is their a way to change the battery life to a percentage instead of the "green battery icon". I noticed everyone posting percentage points of their battery but I only have the 10 green bars... Is their a way to switch it to a percentage

P.P.S

1st Charge: 7 hrs
2nd Charge: 8 hrs
3rd Charge: 10 hrs
4th Charge: 11 hrs
Just download solo battery app, and it will display your battery as a percentage rather than the green bars

Thanks.

Also I seem to have found out what drains all my battery. I woke up yesterday and went to class, in 3 hours I was down to 50 %. So I turned Mobile wifi off...that 50 % lasted me until 10 before getting down to 15 % battery. I think its probably the 3G network....

Keep in mind I have no task killer or such apps. Basically just stock other then watch dog.

Hello,

Today was my first full day with DHD. I got it yesterday and charged it for 8 hours before turn on it.

and here is my comments from my dhd:

Turned on it around 10pm yesterday night and started to set it up for first use. Played about 3 hours before going to bed mostly to learn its functions such as GPS, Photography, internet, and menus. Got up 10am in the morning, the same process like yesterday: Tried to set up my google account but couldnt. ( I faced the same problem with other guys who didnt set up google account very first. ). I will try to find out this problem but if you have solution, you are welcome :)

Mainly surfed today. Watch 30 minutes videos from youtube; checked my fb in every hours: send and recevied messages; made a comments frequently.
and general set up for the mobile: 2g only & everything is off when I do not use them (wifi-bluethooth - gps), screen brightness is %20, used default screen with time and wheather and original widgets.

So after almost 24 hours, I still have % 8-9 battery. uptime is 23:20h; awake time: 5.40h with display % 67, Android system %15, internet %7, cell standby %6 and phone idle %5.

I am going to drain all battery now and after that I will charge it all this night like 8-9 hours as Garduim explained before in this post.

So feel free to comment guys. How did you find this ? :)

Right on. You are doing everything right. Good job.

Hi, can someone please confirm if I turn on Airplane mode, I will still be able to use WiFi, as it says 'all wireless connections off, and Wifi IS wireless.

yes you can turn off 3g by scrolling over (if you are using stock setup) to the panel on the left, and there is a widget bar that lets you turn on wifi, data, etc. just click the data one.

Hi, can someone please confirm if I turn on Airplane mode, I will still be able to use WiFi, as it says 'all wireless connections off, and Wifi IS wireless.

Hi, The basic behind airplane Mode is to stop anything interfering with the navigation and other systems in the Air Plane, so in many cases all Radio signals are stopped.

But I also read the following,

"While users expect that all radios get turned off while in airplane mode, some users might want to turn on wifi or bluetooth while on airplane mode.

The android OS supports it, in fact, I just released an app on the market "Airplane Mode Wifi Enabler" and it lets you do exactly this. Bluetooth is not working correctly though
"

I do not know how the app works, but if you find it useful let us know.

Hope this helped.

Hmm I looked at the widget seemed complex with 'aircraft SSID details, and 'landed mode' allow me to explain why I need airplane mode, as perhaps I can do it another way.

At home I don't really get a very good mobile signal at all. But I do have Wi Fi capability. I'd like to be able to turn off the phone from trying to find a signal (draining the battery) and also from trying to do anything over the air via data. In effect only having Wi Fi active. If Airplane mode is going to turn off everything, what other options do I use.

And a quick check with the settings show, that WiFi can be enabled while Airplane mode is on, from the stock 2.2 Android I'm running :). I have Airplane mode on at current time writing, but I'm using my schools WiFi to hook up to the network in the phone :)

PS! Just as an update after thinking about it, it is possible to have WiFi on during a flight, when the seatbelt sign is off, as it is not such a powerfull signal. It has a very short range, and thus is extremely unlikely to interrupt the flight systems :)

I bought a Brodit Active Car Cradle which charges my DHD 45 minutes in the morning and again in the evening as I commute. Since doing that I have not had to charge my phone by any other method. It lasts all day at work with a reasonable amount of use, calls, txt, angry birds etc. The only thing that really seems to make a difference is being at home where the signal is sometimes bad. This causes the phone to continually hunt for a signal, which I'm told, wastes the battery life. I switch a lot of things off until I need them, then I switch them on.

I love my DHD, my only criticism is that the speaker is a bit quiet when playing videos.

I have to lol at these battery threads. the desire HD has a poor battery and htc know it and cant b bothered to release a new battery soooo....they release the desire S. Better battery than the original desire and the HD. Only hope for better battery is the gingerbread update. Its supposed to have improved battery management but hmmm.... lets see i suppose but dont get me wrong i do love my HD. A flaw they cant fix is the below standard speaker. Its worse than any kiddy toy! Cant b fixed as i beleive its a hardware issue and they arent going to recall all the headsets now are they lol. Think ill go for the the LG dual core phone next...... all my opinion btw. :-).

Have fun updating it. LG is one of the worst for updating their phones. and IME LG phones are garbage. I dont care if you have a dual core...if you think the battery sucks in the DHD, then have fun with a processor that uses more power. Sure DC processors usually provide better power management, but at the same time they HAVE to be optimized fully...anyone can plop a Run of the Mill DC Processor and itll work great...but is it optimized for battery and perormance? or JUST performance?

Im not saying you are wrong for going with one. who knows, it miht actually be a great device. maybe LG has switched their game plan... I was SUPER surprised at Motorola with Android... motorola had a great phone for a long time (the RAZR) but they let the ball drop cuz they rode the RAZR/KRAZR train too long (hence why stocks fell hardcore) and they finally have come back with some absolutely phenomenal products. The Atrix blows my mind. again though, will the battery be able to handle a DC processor? let's hope so.

hey!:p newbie signing in.
thanks to all as i have been reading the forum for a few months (and oops also the desire forum rather than the desire HD forum for 2 months!) and without it i would not have been able to setup or even successfully use my phone LOL.:o

Ive read lots of battery threads that have helped immensely...most helpful tips for me so far have been to have the usb bugging turned off, a rather noticeable difference from that alone :)

I (over)charge overnight (say 11.30pm - 7am) and sometimes boost it up in the car around 3pm when it needs it ..yeah not for long enough... i usually have to pop the charger in around 9pm aswell:rolleyes:
I didnt really charge the phone too well on first use, between the trips back and forth to the shop i got it from for all the assistance needed, lol.
but the battery has improved a little since then i think.
Im happy to charge it as needed, only issues are weekends if im out alot, im trying to figure out what to turn off in that case to help...as sometimes i dont have my car charger about either. ive noticed wifi uses 2% battery so not sure that turning that off really helps. and when im out of the house all day im more likely to use my phone more for fb rather than my netbook..

I did try having the wifi turned off (GPS and bluetooth (?) are always off) but honestly im not too sure what it is, the difference between internet and wifi?? yes, really  i dont need to wirelessly connect to anything ever, so maybe i dont need it on at all ? i only have a dongle for internet at home. how do you turn internet on/off then?:o
and i think im using the wifi hotspot right for free internet at the pub??
Im stuck with vodaphone (AUS) which is famous for shit coverage. I have it set on the auto GSM/WCDMA setting, no idea if i set it to 2G or 3G if it might help??

Im also having problems with the htc agenda calendar. ATM it is using 30% of the battery (as is display even though i have fiddled with settings and widgets). First the calendar was stuck on LOADING and not working. I finally got it to actually work from a tip somewhere on here, went into settings, accounts and sync, google account, turned off the calendar sync. Ive tried a few free calendars but i really like this one the best (when it works properly grumble)

In Airplane mode - can you still receive calls? I dont have a home phone so it's important I can always be reached.

sorry ive ended up with a list with more issues than just battery use.
cheers

After reading all of these threads about the battery I took it to the extreme to see how far it would really go.
I put all wireless and networks off.
Took auto rotate off, no animations, 11% brightness & 15 secs timeout.
No syncing at all.
All wireless networks off, gps satalites off & the integration of Google navigation off but kept the phone finder on.
Power saver on at 30%, disable BT, wi fi, background apps, screen brightness 11%, no onscreen animations, no vibration.
The result... 2 days and 5 hours.

Hi folks. Hope I am posting this in correct thread....I am not inc figures etc, lol. Having had the original Desire I realised that to use all the phones features (sorry, I don't buy this having to turn everything off/down, why should I) the solution was, for me, very simple. I had a spare battery with higher ampage, ready fully charged. So when I received my Desire HD, the first thing I purchased was a spare battery, in fact my deal was 2 spare batteries, both higher ampage. If I am going away for the day, I take a spare with me and have the other spare on charge in the house. I know some may think it a bit of a nuisence, but for me I get FULL use of the phone features and do not have to worry about battery running flat.
One word of caution, if you buy the higher ampage battery, they are a very tight fit and only way to remove is with a very pointed object, lol.
AS I say, this will be a nuisence to some, but at least I can use my phone and all its features and surely that is what we get these phones for?

Some people's battery life really surprises me. When I bought this phone whilst it was in it's first charge I read lots and lots about how to improve the battery life. I have no live wallpaper, don't and HTC Sense on sync (I have it manual as why would I need to sync my texts and phone contacts all the time, I maybe do this once a week manually) I have wifi and 3g on when I need it and can turn it on and off with the widget on the homescreen so easy peasy. GPS is mainly off unless I need it with google maps. I don't play music on my phone or use it as an ipod so no battery drain there. My emails, set to push once an hour, facebook 4 hours and weather once a day. All the sync options for google contacts etc are set to manual as again I don't need to keep syncing things that are already synced.
My screen is set to about 16% which is fine for me to see it. I make calls, send texts, browse the internet, play angry birds and check things from time to time but moderate useage as I am infront of my laptop at work and have it at home as well so use that for my general internet browsing unless I'm out the house.
I get minimum 2 days use from my phone and sometimes 3 days if I don't have many phone calls.

I do use Advanced Task Killer still as I agree with Gardium. I know andriod 2.2 doesn't need it to kill apps but I never turn my phone off (It's on silent at night) so this helps me manage RAM usage which helps my battery.

The 1st 4-5 days were not good for the battery but after that it's awesome! I love this phone. USB debugging is on for me. If you manage your sync settings properly this phone will last minimum 1 day between charges and I get 2 days as standard.

I installed a task killer and it made my battery last 60 hours straight of playing Angry Birds with the screen brightness on full.

I turned to Jessica Alba and said "Hey, Jessica! I love my Task Killer. It just works so well. My battery lasts longer and the phone runs smoother!". She laughed and gently kissed my cheek. "I love you so much, Widehead." She said. I couldn't help smiling from ear to ear. I just couldn't believe my luck. "Don't forget," she said turning back to her latest film script "you should condition your battery too. I know for a fact that conditioning improves battery life by over 9000%."

And then I woke up. Tears rising. It was a dream - a wonderful yet terrible dream!
Jessica! The task killer saving battery life and making my phone run smoother! The conditioning of my battery to increase it's life! All a crazy dream!!

Can I start calling Gardium The Reverend Gardium?

I'm thirsty and I want some of the Reverend's Kool Aid.

lmao, 10000 internets to you sir

I was very p*ssed off with the battery life when I acquired my DHD a few weeks back as it would go flat by 6 pm - which is outrageous. I found one really big solution (apart from using Green Power app) was to delete the animated wallpaper. It seems to be have been using a lot of power moving this lovely swirly pattern around and though I miss it the phone stays alive much longer.
