Desire HD Battery Thread

I installed a task killer and it made my battery last 60 hours straight of playing Angry Birds with the screen brightness on full.

I turned to Jessica Alba and said "Hey, Jessica! I love my Task Killer. It just works so well. My battery lasts longer and the phone runs smoother!". She laughed and gently kissed my cheek. "I love you so much, Widehead." She said. I couldn't help smiling from ear to ear. I just couldn't believe my luck. "Don't forget," she said turning back to her latest film script "you should condition your battery too. I know for a fact that conditioning improves battery life by over 9000%."

And then I woke up. Tears rising. It was a dream - a wonderful yet terrible dream!
Jessica! The task killer saving battery life and making my phone run smoother! The conditioning of my battery to increase it's life! All a crazy dream!!

lmao, 10000 internets to you sir

This!

My battery hasn't been too bad but recently it is dropping quickly and when I check it is the Calendar application that is taking the most by some way. Any ideas as to why this might be? I have turned off the weather update on it but that made no difference.

TIA

I was very p*ssed off with the battery life when I acquired my DHD a few weeks back as it would go flat by 6 pm - which is outrageous. I found one really big solution (apart from using Green Power app) was to delete the animated wallpaper. It seems to be have been using a lot of power moving this lovely swirly pattern around and though I miss it the phone stays alive much longer.

That seems kind of strange to me because by the end of the day when my battery hits 40% i check the usage and live wallpaper is only 3% of the usage.

Thanks arlrb interesting figures.

Mine after 30 mins.

Calendar 43%
Display 41%
Android System 4%
Cell Standby 3%
Live wallpapers 3%
Phone Idle 2%

I just can't see why the calendar is taking all the power, I have removed all the calendars and taken it off my front screen. So it must be one of the apps doing it. Will now try uninstalling the likely candidates one at a time.

Update :- looks like it was eboBirthday doing the deed, I have removed that and the problem has stopped.

i've hardly used my phone today and had the best batterly life ever

discharging from 94% from this morning, been going 12+ hours

can't complain at that :o)

Depends. If you want an expensive paperweight - that's great. Good Job.

If want to actually use your phone however well that's a different story.

Here are mine specs for battery:

Uptime length: from 7 am till 10 pm, then on charger (mostly still got 30%)
Accelerometer: on
3G Or 2G: 2G, at school sometimes 3G
Wireless On: at home (from 4 pm till 10 pm)
GPS On: always on
Automatic Brightness: yes, auto

Misc: I sometimes look at Twitter etc, but auto sync is totally of. I text about 10-15 times a day, and call is about 5-10 minutes. I have live background Nexus or photos (changing). All 6 panels full with widgets. At home is skype logged in, otherwise I shut it off.
I have also Advanced Task killer installed, with auto-kill frequency 30 mins. Every time I used an app, lock/unlock screen I kill all tasks. Task killer helps a lot.

Ps: my Android system uses only 3% of my battery, my screen 60%

mine has been better lately

never used to get a whole day out of it now get around 30 hours plus depending on how much ive used it

last couple of days got 50 hours

OK, Amazon price was great on the phone. Every phone I have ever owned had/has removable batteries. I ordered a pair of 1600mAh batteries, a USB cable, AND an out-of-phone charger. I can have one in the charger to switch when I get home and I carry a spare battery with me. That's 3 batteries (for those keeping score). That package was $30 on eBay (USA seller, I don't love ordering from Hong Kong) and hasn't arrived yet. I'll report on the 1600's when I get some data. WHAT I WANT is a replacement battery cover! If I'm going to be swapping batteries often, It looks like I'll be needing one (Murphy was an optimist). Car chargers start at $10, so ease up on the bitching, everyone. Battery tech has improved tremendously - but, of course, like highways and hard drives, the demand grows even faster.

This problem also occurs when Flickr is linked to the phone.
