NO responsibility for what happens, but without knowing anything, I'll toss out something to try, I guess it can't hurt.
**Try Power off (even if you have to pull the battery), remove the SD card and try to boot. See if it will boot without the SD card in. IF (Remember given what I know, this is a Hail Mary), but IF it does start up, let it start up totally, shut down properly, put the card back in and start up again.
Again, That is a total hail mary considering that I don't know any details, but it's just something that seems to be going around alot, so IF you at the position I think you might be, this COULD work. But, fine print, "try at your own risk"

Although as Tokenpoke once put very nicely "This phone is damn near unbrickable"...LOL...meaning worst case we can get you back to stock and try again, but for now:

Let's get the details of exactly where you are and go from there

thanks for the help, but i got it fixed(: i fastbooted and reinstalled icarus, everything came out splendid after that(:
 
Any way to fix the Time in icarus 1.1?? Its 7 hours ahead and i cant change it manually cause its greyed out...any suggestions??
 
Okay I flashed the new one I got from metro successfully.

Now Im about to do my girlfriends phone. She has Icarus 1.0 already.

Do I have to do the CWM step she already has it?

Or do I just format the sd card. Drag 1.1 onto the main sd card folder and turn the phone off and go from there?
 
Straight from Isaacj87, the only difference between 1.0 and 1.1 is that the MMS fix is already integrated, and that carrier info for both Cricket and Metro are integrated, instead of having separate zip files for each carrier. There's no reason to upgrade if your phone is already running 1.0 and doing fine.

Her phone isnt running fine..lol.

drag and drop, boot cwm and install.

backup sd first.
 
Finally did it, I installed Icarus 1.1 cricket ... It went flawless.... no issues at all now to configure apps2sd........wish me luck........

You guys rock man i had the darklg rom but was getting the uim message and came over here and installed the icarus 1.1 all i can say is this is the best .steps are very easy to follow and is working like a charm.thanks again for all the hard work u guys put onto this man.thanks ,thanks,thanks
 
so i finally bit the bullet and rooted my phone last night/ this morning. then i did the icarus 1.1 mod. but now when i go to market and try to re-download titaniumbu or my keyboard choice it keeps telling me that the downloads were unsucessful. what gives?:(

edit: i just tried going to market through browser and download tibu and from there it tells me install request failed, please try again later...

Go to the tb website and download it. You will need to enable unknown sources, but I had to get it straight from their site when I had an issue with market. here is the link

Thanks for this. That got me the free version back. All my backups are at home on my pc. I will have to try restore when I get back home. This is second time I put icarus on today. With same results. no d/l possible @ market. Any ideas? Man I hate this keyboard with my fat fingers.

I know I can try a different mod, but everyone seems to love icarus. If I could just download my apps from market I think I would too. Help. Jazz where are you???

Ok, so if you have a working install of something with all of your apps. start there.

Then do a TB of apps + Data. You can access the batch for this by pressing the menu button once TB is launched and select batch.
If you do it this way your market should work fine
Run the App + user data batch. This will back up every app and all your account data.

Put that somewhere safe.

Flash your new rom

go through the initial setup wizard

Load the TB app (make sure you have your files from your original backup on the sd card)

Press menu once TB is loaded and select batch and restore apps + Data.
If you have the pro version this will be automated, if you have the free version you have to accept all of the app reinstalls (not really that bad)

The Market sometimes has problems. When I was stock it would sometimes do that. And it did it to me this afternoon. 3 tries to get Angry Birds Rio over 2 hours.
 
Hey, I probably have a noob question here. But this is my first time and I need some help. After I get done with the CWM fastboot and install-recovery steps, I can't get into the clockwork mod recovery menu. Just the standard Android recovery screen which I'm guessing this is. Do I need to have the clockwork mod app installed on my phone?

no, you didn't flash cwm quite right. run all three files according to your os in the order presented. for windows that would be fastboot.exe adb.exe (just in case, this is optional) and install-recovery.bat
 
I rooted the ascend for metro and did the icarus mod flawlessly but i had lost all my contacts. So I just went back to pre-icarus. My question is, Is there a way for me to install the icarus mod and keep all my contacts and what not ?

I'm struggling to remember if I heard this before. Often people say I lost this or that, but contacts?

OH WAIT...I know why they should not be lost, and one reason they could be....OK:

**When you "Add New Contact" do you add them to the account so that they are also 'up on the cloud' in your GMail account. That's why people flash or do whatever, the contacts just dump right down to the phone again.

*Other Option, when you "Add New Contact" you select "PHONE" which means your putting the contact on the internal memory of the phone, so when the new system syncs (syncs you gmail, contacts, etc), If you added them all in PHONE, then there is nothing to sync, and lost contacts.

Does this make sense I hope. Now, for a second lets just assume this is the case, which I'm guessing it is, as they would have synced by now.

OH, 1 thing 1st - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SYNC TURNED ON. It's the circle of two arrows going around and around....(PS: I don't mean to sound condesending, I just don't know your level, so better to be safe/overly simple than not understand right)

OK, if sync is on and you still don't have them.....more than likely. Your only good hope at this point is "Did you Back Up Your Contacts?" (on a regular basis preferably)

So to answer your question directly. YES, you can install Icarus and keep all of your personal stuff, with the exception of your chat threads from messaging. I guess it's possible that someone out there has a way to do it, but each time I've done it, I've started over with text messages, that's all.
So if for some reason you have something important in one of those just copy/past it or forward it to an email, prefered to your Gmail (the one used for the phone) so it will also be synced back to the phone.

So, I hope that was a little helpful, although I realize that it wasn't what you really wanted to hear.

But hopefully you have a backup .vcf or something like that....or maybe just need synced.....

sorry Jeff, you lost me....

Andro- go to your contacts and press the menu button on your phone.
tap "more" then "Manage contacts" then "backup to sd" it will make a folder called "contact" on your sd card. put that on your pc before flashing and transfer back on when you're set up.

to resoter get to where it says "backup" but select "restore from sd"
 
I made the mistake of making all my contracts PHONE contracts INSTEAD of GMAIL contacts. If your contracts are GMAIL contacts then they sync with gmail on the internet and you can't lose 'em.

I changed all mine over "manually" because I couldn't figure out how to switch then afterwards I figured out that you can LOL

So anyway ...

1.) Go to your contact list and select someone and hold on their name and keep it held down until a menu pops up.

2.) You should have one of two options. If it is a GMAIL account contact you will have an option to COPTY TO PHONE (which you really do NOT need to do) but if it is a PHONE contact there will be an option to COPY TO GMAIL (your gmail account will be listed). So yes if that is the case then do that.

3.) You will have the contact twice now on the phone. You can delete the one that says PHONE and if you aren't sure which of the two that is just do as above and the one that gives you the option to copy to GMAIL is the phone one so delete it.

Once all your contacts are attached to your gmail account you CANNOT lose them as it all syncs up on-line.
 
another way to get rid of the dups is sign into your gmail n goto your contacts. There u can merge the dups ;)
