Root Am I too stupid to Flash a ROM ??

the reason I have clockwork is because it was recommended in another thread. I don't care what I use, as long as it works ;)

I also don't ming doing it manually , again RM was recommended somewhere.

If I uninstall ROM Manager, will clockworkmod be gone as well?

How do I go about replacing clockworkmod with amon ra ?

If you uninstall rom manager it will not remove your recovery. Though you dont have to uninstall it, just dont use it except for maybe downloading a rom. You change your recovery by flashing a pc36img file from hboot. You would grab the pc36img file and instructions here.

Well there we go, your radios among other things need updated. You can flash them separately but I would go to the link in my sig and flash sprint lovers. It will update everything at once. Make a backup first including wimax. If you are on clockwork 3.0.0.5 it will do this automatically. Then wipe everything and flash sprint lovers. Make a back up and then flash on to cm7 rc4.

Do we need clockwork 3.0 if we're on 2.6?

Let's see if I got this right:
First I flash this: EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_WiMAX_27167_R01_PRI_NV_1.9 0.003 - Includes latest Radio, WiMAX, PRI & NV
Then I backup (NAND) ?
Next I wipe everything with Kings "Reformat all" .zip ?
Then I flash Sprint Lovers (PC36IMG.zip)
Then backup ( I assume NAND ?)
Finally I flash CM7

I have MyBackup Pro and have all of my apps and data backed up. Can I just use that to bring everything else back ?

What if I do get the install error? How do I change my recovery?

Thanks for all your help everyone !!

I dont use myback up, most of us use titanium. But yes it should bring everything back. Do not restore data with it unless its for games mostly. In general restoring data will mess things up.

I posted a link to change recovery in another post.

Im saying step by step
1. Make a back up
2. Download Sprint lovers
3. Wipe everything
4. Flash sprint lovers
5. make a back up
6. Wipe everything
7. Flash cm7 RC4

You can just flash the dl from that link you posted and then flash cm7 rc4 but I dont know what rom you are on or how those radios will play with it, to me its safer, albeit more tedious to flash sprint lovers and have a good working back up that is completely up to date and then moving on.

...was merely responding on the ? on how to get 100% stock back.
unroot?? (form of question)
then stated that i did it once...

thats absurd?

anyway ill let you have at it since you have more posts than me.

Do we need clockwork 3.0 if we're on 2.6?

Im not entirely sure i follow that question but anyhow, clockwork 2.6.0.1 is the best version of clockwork. If i were going to have clockwork it would be that one. However, most of us on AF suggest Amon Ra 2.3. Its generally considered less buggy/more stable. There have been issues with wiping dalvik in clockwork (so I have heard but not expereienced).

Clockwork 3.0.0.x is not able to flash all of the rom choices out there. It no longer supports a script type (called amend) that was used to make a lot of the available roms currently. 3.0.0.x moved to edify script only, which is what google moved to with gingerbread. You can flash cm7 with 3.0.0.x and other gingerbread i imagine but a lot of 2.2 roms are still amend script.

cw 2.6.0.1 will flash both amend and edify scripts so you wont get any script errors. Also 2.6.0.1 will back up your wimax rsa keys! cw 2.5.x.x and below will NOT back up your wimax.

Amon Ra 2.3 has the option to back up wimax, among other things, and works with both scripts, and hasnt seen any issues with performing a wipe, therefore its the one we suggest, that was windy and i apologize but i hope that cleared some things up...?

Apologies, i felt as though you were pissing on me for giving him info you had already supplied. I had read that you told him that and it was appreciated. He seemed confused on the issue still. I was clarifying. Its hard to read someones intent sometimes in a forum...so sorry...moving on, the point is to help here on AF.

well i've never experienced anything bad using clockwork 2.6 so I'm going to keep on trucking until i have a reason to switch :D

Sounds like a plan, because if/when you do switch your cw back ups can NOT be restored with Amon Ra. You would have to flash back to clockwork if you wanted to restore a clockwork back up, or one by one convert all your back ups to Amon Ra.

could i copy nandroids to computer than drag em back when i install Amon RA?

yes but amon ra still wont restore them :D

I suggest keeping a few copies of nandroids onthe computer just in case by the way in case of a damaged sd card

no, but you can switch back and forth between recoveries if you need to.

you can flash to RA from with inside rom manager app. scroll to the bottom and select flash alternate recovery. it says RA 2.2.2 but if will actually be 2.3. you can flash back to clockwork by selecting all clockwork recoveries I believe.

this would be a good reason to keep the rom manager app. you can easily switch to different recovery versions.

LOL somehow I knew that was coming :D thanks currently saving nandroids to computer.

Alright, looks like I learned something by searching ;-)

The difference between Recovery and hboot, LOL

CM7 loaded, gapps flashed.
Now I need to restore my apps I think, right ?

What recovery are you using and was there any more detail in the error? Also pc36img files are flashed in hboot not recovery.

Edit: should have refreshed.

that is good news. Should be able to just don't restore the data with them unless it had like scores for a game our something along those lines.

Looks like I got it all done :)

Thanks for all your help !!!!!

Gotta tweak a few things and learn how to use CM. From what I am seeing I like it :-)

Just noticed that all of my pictures are now gone :-( They were stored on the SD card. What could have happened here ??

They don't show in gallery or are actually gone? Disk drive or file explorer and you still can't find them?

Nothing we did should touch you sd card. Flashing only pulls a zip from your card and writes it to internal. Sd card is your safe haven. That being said people get damaged errors from cm7 and I saw someone lose their pics but really they just weren't being found by the rom they still existed.

Pretty sure it wasn't what we did. What else have you done since? Is that the only thing to you lost? Everything else on sd is ok?
