froyo 2.2 for virgin usa samsung intercept

Just updated. Phone just prompted there was a system update and wanted to install. Took less than five minutes. Waiting for it to finish right now.

:D

Congrats and enjoy Froyo!

Please post more screen shots and videos on You Tube too.

What is Frimware version, Baseband version, Kernel version and Build number?

:)

hmm, I received the notification text on Friday, but nothing yet saying that I have an update waiting.

Is there a way to force the update or do I need to wait for them to push it to me?

If I go in to system updates - update android, it say's my phone is up to date.

I got a notification on the 8th, still no update here ether.
My phone also says "up to date."
It is driving me insane.
I uninstalled all my custom home screens and stuff on the off chance that it was blocking the message.
 Oh no! What if I miss the message and it never is resent and I can never update.
:confused::eek::confused::eek::confused::eek:

Why can you root it now as opposed to when it was 2.1?
Because I only had the phone since December and I did not think there was a clear concensus that rooting the phone would not be an issue with the 2.2.2 update.

Also, the phone is like a different device. Big improvement in speed and snappiness. I moved a bunch of apps to SD and now have 50 megs of free space and dozens of apps loaded. Form the hour or so I have played around I have:

Moved many apps to SD
New menu-bar - now states "3G" not "EVDO"
Deleted LauncherPro - the stock launcher is now just as fast
Noticed a "News/Weather " app that I had not seen before - I like it.
New access to MUTE from the lock screen (slider)
Contacts are now finger-friendly (nice and big)
Market app is very nice - deleted AppBrain, no longer needed
Virtual buttons seem fixed - though not 100% sure as its early testing
...and much more.

This is a big update - awesome for $25 a month. Thanks VM :)

hello all. I just recently switched to android and purchased this samsung intercept. I got the text message on April 8th about the update and I have not received the notification for the update :-( I just have one question..what does the "stock android" look like? I was told to get launcher pro and I have been using that which I do like alot..is it anything like that? any screen shots, youtube vids, of the froyo update?

Is it easy to root this phone? I don't see a rooting guide here, and from what I was reading it didn't seem like there was a "pure" root if that makes any sense. I've manually rooted my Nexus One before (not unlocking the bootloader.) Is there a tutorial or app you can recommend on this?

:D

Anyone, who will receive notification going forward, could you also please kindly do the following before running the update?

Install any free Logcat App from Android Market and install on your phone this weekend prior to 4/11/2011.

Run Logcat App first. Then, only download the update and choose option to install it later.

Check the log file created by Logcat and send the output to sdx-developers Forum. Especially, cut and paste the Google/VM/Sprint server names where Update is coming from and any user id and password (if there are any at all).

Also, please check whether your SD card shows update.zip in root folder of SD card.

If yes, please copy that file from your SD card root folder to your PC and post it to sdx-developers Forum.

This will help all rooted Samsung Intercept users on Virgin Mobile to get Update.zip of official Froyo Release.

I will wait a week or so until other, more knowledgeable, people root the VM 2.2.2 OS and follow what they did. Look over on XDA dev, Im sure something will pop up in the next few days. :)

Ahhh... so THAT'S how we get those Update.zip files...

Please check nice post Froyo Android 2.2 update screen shots from user Travis Kline:

Android Version: 2.2.2
Baseband version: S:M910.05.EC07
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: FROYO.EC07
Hardware version: M910.05

intercept 2.2 "froyo" update
Reading more of that thread it looks like someone may have a copy of the Update.zip file. They're trying to coach a user through getting the file off their phone and throwing it to a file share. May be worth monitoring.
