Short answer: no.
Color is determined by the type of semiconductor material used.
I'm somehow doubtful this phone is getting 2.0 seeing that they are practically giving these phones away. Doesn't add up.
Verizon also said it would deploy and support apps for the LG Dare and they delivered NONE and simply turned thier head from anyone who complained. I am not expecting Android 2.x for the Eris, verizon has a track record of empty promises and lies.Verizon and HTC have already said the Eris is getting an update to either 2.0 or 2.1 in the first quarter of 2010. There is really nothing to be doubtful about.
We might see something at the end of the month, but I would venture to guess more like February. They have to get this little MR2 update out to all of the handsets before they can start thinking about sending out the large 2.1 update.

I'm kinda confused. The Verizon statement(below) doesn't actually say "upgrade to 2.X" it just says the phone will be upgraded. Could this be hype and we'll only get, for instance, 1.8? Or does an 'upgrade' technically have to be from say, 1.X to 2.X?
Well, that statement clarifies that the upgrade will be either 2.0 or 2.1 since those are the only ones where Google Maps Navigation works...
