HTC Gingerbread update.

I have the dreaded 2.2.1 and the main problems I have are text messages not appearing/slow to deliver or send (though Handcent SMS has helped), my memory card 32GB sometimes doesn't read properly via PowerAMP (tested with h2testw) and intermittent reboots.

Apparently this Android update improves battery life which would be great; though I'm using GreenPower Premium, the jury's out whether it helps that much.

Hopefully Gingerbread sorts these issues out. Not long to go! (I've got a SIM-Free HD).

Tried out Green Power, seemed like a good idea but found that it kept interfering with my mobile network even though I that option disabled. I use TinyShark and YouTube to listen to music on the go so pretty much ruined it for me.

Funny you should say that..GiffGaff has been very flakey lately, though GreenPower worked flawlessly for a few weeks..though I have a newer one now. Recently mobile internet is up and down all the time. Might be worth taking GP off to see if it improves.

PS: Having a look at the settings for Green Power. Wondering if turning the "Manage Mobile Network" settings off renders it useless, seems to be its main purpose (!). The verdict doesn't look too good here.. http://androidforums.com/htc-thunderbolt/306589-green-power.html

Thanks for the link.

I had no problems with the exception of screen off. Once I switched HP off, it went back to normal.

The wait for updates are so agonisingly cruel! Only reason I haven't rooted this device is because i adore HTC Sense! Anybody know if tomorrows OTA update comes with HTC Sense 3.0?

Afraid not. It will only have Sense 2.1.

Rooting your device doesn't mean losing Sense as there are a number of leaked stock HTC roms out there.

There aren't any with 2.3 so I don't see the point in rooting it just yet. I have VISIONary+ installed so I can get superuser access without actually rooting it.

Ahh you may have the early release for the Desire Z, that's been flying around since it was leaked a while back. What's the build number?

One of the issues I've seen with GreenPower is if you're on TMobile or Orange and you've signed-up to use both networks, GreenPower will with default settings, prevent you from data roaming when you're using the "other" network.

I'm hoping for improved management of bluetooth connectivity and better battery life. Those two benefits would be quite enough for me!

Well its U-day. I wonder how many update checks will be done today...

Looking forward to the rage explosion when it doesnt appear. personally im hoping for better battery life though JD and the app that turns wif off outside your home is helping with the woeful excuse for battery the Desire HD has.

(Oh and no update here Orange, believed unbranded (from p4u))

I upgraded to GB from the ROM download in Xyros post. I love it, don't know if it will be the same as the release you guys are waiting on but my battery life is close to doubled, the interface is so smooth, the new video camera app is awesome and I'm loving it, had absolutely NO issues with it yet (my wi-fi is as good as it was with Froyo).

Cheers.
Dave.

.. and then he's got to get into work, work out why the server hasn't been backed up, have a coffee or three, talk to his colleagues about his weekend, have another coffee, ...

Geez, some people are impatient .... :D
