3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

I was one of the ones mentioning September, and not to be flip-floppy (even if I am) - are we totally sure of that? The iP4 came out in June.

I almost wish we had the 3dEvo, SGS2, Sensation and new iPhone(s) release all at the same time. The comparison discussions could all hit at once, and I'd be free to not see the gee-if-only-I-waited threads, but that's just me. :p :)

Nothing confirms, to my knowledge. However, I have not heard any hints of the it being at the WWDC like the I4 announcement. Of course, that doesn't mean anything. However, Apple is saying they are making an announcement regarding the future of iOS. This, to me, means a wait for the phone and more time for sales of the E3D if the release date comes sooner rather than later.

That would be pretty awesome.

- The biggest thing that I didnt like was that, I was reading on another board from someone who got to play with one at I/O and the phone kept rebooting and freezing. This leads me to believe they are not even close yet on finalizing the software.

Link or it didn't happen - I searched for over a half-hour looking for this, came up with nothing.

3) I hope this unit hasn't been updated since the previous outing earlier in the year. The phone crashed several times as the person was demoing it.

*Bragging*I've played with it. Any questions? - Page 12 - Android Forums

- Crashed again. When I flipped the hardware switch, while in camera app, from 3 to 2 D it dropped out of the cam app to the Sense home screen and locked hard. Still an early build I would say.

The fossil record shows that the Evo got its first OTA on launch day - so, that's really great that they'll roll those updates out.

But!

I think I speak for many who would like to get a new phone that works, not as in almost.

Many thanks for the link!

100% agree

And that is also why I THINK that if the Iphone release is pushed to September Sprint will take its time and make the E3D as perfect as they can. They wont be rushed to get something out to compete with another carrier.

My thinking

More evidence the E3D may be heading for an early June release. The link below shows pre-orders were being taken by Best Buy for the EVO 4G on May 13th of last year. That, to me, sounds like a match for what is going on right now.

Sprint HTC Evo 4G Available for Pre-Order Now

The only problem is that Best Buy could be guessing just as much as any of us. Is there any evidence that shows they knew something we didn't last year with the Evo?

So far as I know, there's a mail-order law that insists that once something is ordered, there's a limited time that they can play with your money - they have to deliver or refund. I think it was like 6 weeks or something.

If there's a law like that that applies to web purchases, then on-line pre-orders would indicate something.

However, IANAL and even if I were IANYL - so take this one with salt. Plenty of salt. ;)

That is something I don't know. The link does say that 6/4 was the release date for the 4G. That is something we currently don't see with the E3D. With Sprint also doing pre-orders, I still can see early June in the realm of probability.

All in all, speculation is fun :) However, I would also like to see something concrete at this point.

Stop acting like gossip girls. I don't want an iPhone because I want the 3D. The phone will release in June. Stop gossiping and just wait a few more weeks.

I think once we all get concrete proof of a June release the gossiping will stop.

Until then, my bet is it will continue.

That makes sense. Otherwise, I think it would constitute you giving them a loan. Regardless, both places doing "preorders" are just selling people gift cards and putting their name on a list.

It's not like we're gossiping about your sister or something :-p It's fun. It gives all of us something to talk about while we wait. Plus, once we find out, everyone who was right will have the great personal satisfaction of being right on the interwebs!!

EDIT: Also, this thread is about pre-release miscellany. Keep it on topic ;-) tee hee

the guy said the display is just like the 3DS. if so, we may be looking at innie-only 3D and nothing popping out of the screen.

Don't forget that after the release gossip comes this list:

  1. Resurgence in price gossip
  2. Resurgence in supply gossip
  3. Where-is-it-on-sale-for-cheaper gossip
  4. How-long-will-it-stay-at-this-price gossip
  5. Why-is-it-failing-I-heard-it-is-failing gossip
  6. Sense-3-Won't-Work-With-Ice-Cream-Sandwich gossip
  7. Sprint-will-raise-my-monthly-for-this-phone gossip
  8. Sprint-is-going-out-of-business-this-phone-won't-help gossip
  9. Sprint-will-really-be-bought-by-Verizon-now-this-phone-won't-work gossip
  10. Anyone-counting-on-WiMAX-are-suckers-here's-inside-info gossip
  11. Sprint-is-really-finally-going-to-get-the-iPhone-now gossip
  12. And don't forget the big one: I-heard-they-held-back-to-sucker-us-in gossip

This is actually the Official Gossip List, as approved by the International Gossip Directorate, Unhappiness Subgroup, and it's impossible to actually breathe, must less function, with this chatter.

:D lma0 ;)

I heard that Sense 3.0 won't work with the lower priced version of the Evo 3D running Android 9.Q, Pineapple Upside Down Cake (PUDC). It actually bricked the phone, causing Sprint to lose sales. As a result, they will go out of business in 3 minutes. They are going to release the iPhone 6S to try and win back customers but they are charging $317.99 a month with a $23 premium data upcharge.

(Did I get it all in?)

Not calling you (or the other thread) a liar or anything, but I find it kind of hard to believe that it was running relatively up to date software. I can't possibly imagine that the software that the thread was talking about was that vastly much different from the Sensation, which is coming sooner rather than later at this point.

In truth, without X-Ray vision and other super-powers, there's no way to know if that crashing and freezing was caused by one tiny defect already fixed or a hornet's nest worth.

Nothing wrong with having faith, nothing wrong with being skeptical - but we can't know one way or the other, yes?

Not that this means all that much but my buddy who has been with Sprint since 2004 spoke with a rep yesterday who said that it is expected to release in early to mid June.

He's going to be adding me to his family plan and we were checking to see if we could preorder.

I can only speak for myself but if the Sensation is released before the E3D and release of the E3D release date starts to look like a July/August date I just might have to jump ship to T-Mobile to grab the Sensation. Basically the same phone anyway just w/o the 3D.

The problem is if they wait until July they will lose sales to those people who are willing to wait the extra 2 months to see and possible choose the iPhone over the EVO 3D. I'm one of those people, I love Android but if I'm going to have to wait that long (another 2 months under this scenario) for EVO 3D then I'll wait a little longer to see what the iPhone 5 bring.

LOL the Iphone 5 will be just like every other iphone. Just a minor improvement at a time.

I agree with this. If the release date is pushed to July, not only would the I5 be on the horizon, but the SG2 would most likely be hitting Sprint and USA carriers in the same time frame.

I really think a June, and early June at that, release would be in the best interest of Sprint and HTC.

hmm is sg2=samsung galaxy 2? you have a link to any info on it? I'd wait until august and get that over the 3d if good enough.
