Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

I can't wait to jump on this when an OCable Kernel becomes available. I'm still running Zero for the simple fact of OCing. But i'm excited about flashing this rom as well when the bugs get ironed out. Thanks for all the work!

I have found a weird little bug.. My wife had sent me a mms message at 10.20 A.M. but the time stamp showed that I received it at 6.58 A.M. It also put it in the thread of txts like I had gotten it at that time. Is this just a one off bug or has anyone else had this problem? And is there a way to fix? Other than that I love this rom! Its amazing I wont ever go back lol

I don't think its a bug but rather how cm7 is setup. But I think I found a solution. On your sdcard make a folder with the path /media/ringtones and copy the files you want as ringtones into said folder. Then run the app Dev tools and press media scan. The files should now appear in your ringtones. Hope that helps.

I too will never go back :) even with the bug here and there i love it. I ask that people remember that I did not make this rom I only ported it so alot if issues have to do with the rom itself and not the porting. That being said I will still look into finding solutions for problems pertaining to either! I do this in my spare time which I do not have alot of :)

Not working here. Wiped everything and flashed 3 different times. Stuck at "Touch the android to begin." screen.

Could be a kernel issue if you are using the first release of the phone. I had the same issue where the touchscreen wasn't working when I tried to use an oc kernel from the optimus v. If you can unpack boot.img's you can try to swap the zimage from a rom that works on your phone into the gingerbread rom's boot image. Its more work but I'm willing to bet it will do the trick.

a andyo70 did you download with internet explorer

No with Chrome. Plus I also tried downloading with a download accelerator. One time I got a file that was something like, 75.7MB and the other time it was 81MB. I don't know if somehow I'm getting corrupted data.

My problem might also lie where reppard suggested. I have the original that came with 2.2 on it from the get go and he's saying there may be a problem with those.

I have no idea how to do any of that stuff.

It's weird, sometimes it just freezes at that screen I said, then other times it will show that screen then kick back to the boot animation and then keep looping between the welcome screen and animation.

Grrr....I can install the Sense rom and RomZero fine but this is a no go and I wanna try it out so bad.

No....well yeah but no. I had the Sense rom installed which is 2.2.1 based. And this is friggin weird.... I downloaded the file with Internet Explorer. Wiped everything and flashed again and it's working. What the heck?

lol i keep telling people to download with internet explorer cause when you download with a different browser the size of the rom changes and messes up the rom.

Well shit man if you can flash the sense rom that might not be the problem as I am fairly certain its the exact same kernel which means its something in the rom that isn't compatible with the 2.2 phones. More then likely its a minor hardware change from the 2.2 to 2.2.1 which could be fixed by changing out one of the libraries. Only thing is I don't have that phone to debug the issue :/

Edit: did you ever flash to original before I fully ported it and did it work?

Ugh the location issue is back...but this time it thinks in in New York City when I am actually in NJ. Closer but still not locating correctly lol. I re-flashed and applied the mms fix then the GPS fix you posted again. Still a no go. I was so excited to have it working.

All good now. MMS Fix doesn't appear to work for me though. I still have Virgin Mobile banner. Guess that means MMS Fix didn't work.

I removed the eri file that was suppose to fix the banner in that package cause all it did was display roaming indicator off. The banner needs to be fixed via the framework and I am lazy and the banner isn't that important :) your mms should be working so long as you booted the phone once before flashing the fix. Glad to hear you got it working!

rappard ok i unziped the cm7 rom and found a file with virgin mobile just wondering if you changed it to metro pcs would it fix the banner here it is

it needs to be changed to match the metro apn profile. I don't know if that will change the banner. In the past you have had to change the eri.xml. You can test the eri.xml out by pushing it to /data
