Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

Loving the new update!! Thank you & great work!
I'm still having an issue setting ringtones, any suggestions?
Also is there a way to fix the wired mic not working?
Thanks again for a great rom!

yep working great showing my location of my street with the blue arrow.
You must have GPS turned on. After the latest updates, the aGPS on my phone is still not working. I highly doubt I have a different chipset in my device...

I definitely have GPS turned off, and aGPS turned on:

Google homepage cannot locate with the cellular network like it should:

Nor can my Fancy Widget Pro:

The bigger issue is that the bug with the GPS is causing another program I rely on to crash. I cannot use this ROM until the GPS is working correctly, unfortunately.

Here's back to 2.2.1. Google homepage locates fine with GPS off. Notice the presence of the location indicator in 2.2.1 that is missing from Gingerbread. This may be an indicator that the system is not working in Gingerbread.

And in 2.2.1's Location settings, notice that Gingerbread is missing some settings...

Just a possible warning to everyone,

aGPS is used especially when dialing into an emergency dispatch center (911). It has been in use for a long time to help emergency services locate mobile callers.

If you call 911 with this ROM, the emergency dispatchers may not receive your phone's location data, so be prepared to give a concise detail of your location to emergency services if possible.

jesus....

My GPS works fine, my aGPS does not.

Nobody wants to read anymore, or nobody comprehends what they read...

My widgets locate fine if I want to walk around with GPS on all day draining my battery. I choose not to.

Thank you for reporting the bug clearly and in great detail I have been working on this issue and hope to have it solved soon. The roms based on stock roms have alot of proprietary components and its hard to figure out what is calling what and what I can do as an alternative. Still working on it though.

Thanks reppard, I saw your post the other day where you discovered the 3rd party GPS support in CM7. I am anxiously awaiting your findings.

edit: I am only guessing here (as I haven't examined any logs myself yet) but I believe a program I have is crashing when it calls to the GPS system. My gut feeling says it's related, but I could be wrong.

If you're interested in checking this, the program is Noom CardioTrainer from Android Marketplace. It is free of charge, and I downloaded it in the complete Noom package and not as the standalone. It FCs as soon as I tap the green Start Workout button.

I really love this program for tracking my bicycle routes. This is what I'm hoping to get working before I make the switch.

Dude I have GPS off and wifi on and my browser locates me just fine??
Also did you move that app your trying. To use to your sdcard? Because I've had issues with apps that I moved to the SD then had to move em back to the phone to work? Maybe this helps?

Dude I have GPS off and wifi on
"wifi on"

The phone should be able to locate with WiFi and GPS off. Notice Wifi and GPS are off in my screenshots of 2.2.1.

The app was downloaded straight from Marketplace on a clean install of reppard's ROM to the phone's core memory.

Sorry man did not know...good luck.

Well I don't necessarily disagree... :)

I'm just really bummed that it's crashing my application. The program monitors aGPS the entire time, and switches to it if GPS satellite sync is lost. That's why I believe the force close is related to this aGPS issue.

UH OH SPAGHETI O'S....Bluetooth not working, itll pair and connect but when I make a phone call I hear nothing and no one can hear me.if i turn it off and then on itll work but is distorted as hell, anybody else having this issue, any fixes

my gps has worked from day 1 with this rom...the only thing still really crappy is the battery life with wifi on and the landscape change is VERRRRRRY slow.but other than that, this ROM is RAW!

@TheAmazingDave
I just installed the program from the market and it seems to work with or without gps.

i started it without GPS, complained about not having it enabled and that it would not track me. As soon as I turned GPS on , I burned 45426 calories and covered 486 miles :p

@starstress
I also decided to test the bluetooth last night and had the same problem. when i activate BT for a call, the sound will come out the speaker REALLY low. no fixes right not that I know.

Hmmm, I wonder if my FC is related to having Fancy Widgets polling for location data at the same time...

That was the only other user app I added besides Noom, it is otherwise a clean stock install. It crashes the instant I touch Start Workout.

I don't have any Bluetooth peripherals to test but it should be pretty easy to fix. Will work on this when I have the time and resources!

Dave sorry I looked through again and my settings are exactly like your 2.2.1 settings but on the cm7 rom and my browser picks up my location fine... I have GPS off and wireless networks on in the location settings wifi off GPS is off and my browser still picks up my location and everything...and like I said my settings are set up like your 2.2.1 settings..please tell me if I'm misunderstanding this agps issue?

The wifi drains the battery fast on cm7 with 2.3.3. I have a dev friend who enlightened me.

I may have found one thing that is a problem and has not been mentioned.
I use gas buddy, from the market but with this I try to open it and it pops up a screen that says "The application GasBuddy (process gbis.gbandriod) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Then it has a button for Force Close
I tried several times, I even uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times.

Strange... Guess I have a newer chipset than everyone else... No other reason for my aGPS not to work.

It did have a Qualcomm 3G sticker on it when new...

Gas Buddy uses the aGPS system, I'll bet you're experiencing the same thing I am.

edit: I'm going to flash back over to Gingerbread and give this a test.
