Root Das BAMF 2.0 Gingerbread Beta!!

All add ons worked for me except for the blackout mms. it froze the phone at start up. I had to reflash the PG05 file to get the phone back.
 
The two issues I am having are:
I can not connect to my usb cable and have the cpu recognize the phone.
And I am stuck on 1x since flashing.
 
I have no signal, can get wifi and all but no cell signal. Try flashing radios but keep getting error "installation aborted...any ideas?

also, i get about 6 FC's and one of those is Rom Manager which i use to Fix Permissions but cant even get it open> DL'ing newest rom now
 
I screwed up and flashed the rom and let it boot without the new radio but then immediately realised and turned off the phone and flashed the new radio, it seems to be working fine but i was wondering if this could cause any problems?

No, you just wouldn't have voice/data if you stayed on the froyo radio and vice versa

touch "internet pass thru" on the usb selection screen. touch done. give it a few seconds. pull down the notification tab,touch internet pass thru to go back to the usb selection screen. now select disc drive.

see if that works... ive had to do it like that to connect on bamf,and now on gingervitis.

-make sure battery is charged
-make sure md5 matched that listed for the radio file
-do you have the s-off bootloader?

mmkay,i keep saying this: dont use rom manager. :eek: you can fix permissions in recovery as well. there are reasons i say it... really. ;)

Actually per Adryan and a few others over on XDA you really shouldn't use fix permissions at all with a Sense based ROM.

Well it was the first trouble shooting step everyone would tell you to try if you had force close issues with Cyanogen Mod. On most vannila and AOSP ROMs (from back in the OG Droid days) it is fine.

The problem is that Sense is very touchy about permissions, so fixing them can cause issues sometimes. It is a Sense thing more then anything else.

I stoped doing it back when I was on the OG Droid and a fix permissions caused my launcher to go into a force close loop. I had to pull my battery and restore a Nandroid. lol...

wow,worse thing i ever had happen was nothing,lol. i never felt like fixing permissions actually did much,only every once in a while would it actually seem to fix whatever force close issue i was having. i think ill stop using it,also.

i have always tried uninstalling/reinstalling,clearing app cache and data,and whatever else i can think of before running it.
 
Video camera force closes. Camera stutters. Battery drains.

I dont know. Everything else seems to work, But I really dont see whats so much better about it than what I was running with 1.6.3. Think I will go back to it.
 
Just got done installing 2.0.5 and all I can say is; I cannot wait until there is a stripped version of this..

Forgot how much Sense crap is everywhere..

So far it's stable, running well, but with Launcher Pro there really isn't much of a difference between Froyo and GB for my use.
 
When, after flashing the ROM, do you actually do the battery pull? I am confused about this.

in a nutshell:
-download rom and radio. move both to SD card. rename radio to PG05IMG.
-check md5 sums on phone using astro file manager or scary aliens "android file verifier". if they dont match,STOP. delete files,redownload,try again. flashing a bad or incomplete file in hboot can brick your phone.
-use rom manager or quickboot to boot directly into clockworkmod recovery.(alternatively,use adb to boot directly to recovery)
-make a backup
-wipe data/cache/dalvik
-flash rom
-plug the phone into PC,use adb to reboot into bootloader. if you dont have adb,pull the battery,then power on while holding vol -. this will also take you to hboot(original instructions were to use adb,so pull your battery to get to hboot at your own risk)
-hboot will find your file(assuming FAT32 sd card,and correctly named file),unpack it,check it,and ask you to update. tell it yes.
-reboot
-immediately delete PG05IMG from your sd card

alternatively,you could do the first 2 steps,then:
-power off
-power on to hboot(power and vol -)
-yes to update
-when finished,no to reboot
-select recovery using vol keys and power button
-make backup
-wipe data/cache/dalvik
-flash rom
-reboot
-delete PG05IMG

*just be aware that the origianl instructions were to flash the rom,then the radio. i do not think flashing the radio first will matter,but im not an expert,so do so at your own risk.

*if these instructions are still too complex,you might want to hold off on this for awhile.

if that is still confusing,you are simply pulling the patter to power off the phone after the rom has completely flashed. in other words,at the point you would normally select "reboot into OS now",pull the battery instead.

you could also try the alternate method i also described,wich will simply flash the radio first.

again,i do believe those methods are safe,but im not a developer,so deviate from the original instructions AT YOUR OWN RISK. :)
