Root Unrevoked3: Is your firmware too new?

If I have to go back and do it again and wipe the data I don't really mind, all my contacts and calendars are backed up online in Google and I don't really have any apps installed anyway.
It is now rebooting and so far looking O.K. It looks like my preference settings are all gone (ie: wallpaper and stuff like that) but that is not a big deal.
The first screen I have up is the "using the keyboard" screen like when I first turned the phone on when it was brand new.

WOW...that was a process...wasn't it? Did I do all that the really long way around from the very being?
Can I delete that software off of the SD card to save some space or do I need to leave it on there for the phone to run?
Do I need to do that Terminal Emulator thing as well or do I just skip that for now?
Also you said I should do another back-up...would this be the right time to do so or should I wait till I get all my preferences back and the phone in the working order I like?

Well you like rooted then halfway unrooted then rerooted lol. It was way convoluted.
You can delete that zip off the card if you like. Recovery basically unzipped that file and wrote all if it to the disk drive of the phone you know in lay mens terms. Your phone doesn't require an sd card at all to run.
Terminal emulator thing?

Get titanium back up in the market. Back up whatever you may want later, or don't if you won't want it back. Then you can either freeze it or uninstall it completely. There is a list in the rooting for dummies sticky of apps that are safe to remove find that list and refer to it as you are cleaning house.

I wasn't sure if I needed to D/L that app and type the "su" or not, but I guess that is just for people to see if they are rooted? I do by the way have a "Super User" app in my app list.
Yup...we are all good on that one.
At this point I am just wondering about getting rid of some Sprint bloatware before I do a back-up...what do you suggest I use to get rid of that and where can I find an up to date list of whats safe to remove?

Hello again evomatt, Well so far I am liking the look and feel for what we did to my phone...now I just need to get the courage up to try a different ROM and see what that is all about.
I had a few quick short questions again...I am getting ready to do my final back-ups since I now have everything the way I like it, when I do the ra recovery back-up what should have an "X" for the specific things to back-up, or should I just check them all. As for all my apps I just bought the Titanium Pro version and got rid of the Sprint bloatware and then backed up all the new apps I D/L...does that sound correct?
My other question was...I re-read the entire "Rooting For Dummies" thread like fifteen times and I just want to ask somebody before I dive into my wife's phone tonight to make sure I am right in the process. Basically what I gather is I need to do the root in this order:
All the drivers are still installed and the software is downloaded on my PC (unrEVOroked3 - reflash_package, PC36IMG & Supersonic_3.70.651.1-Odexed)
Should I not worry about doing any pre-back-ups if my wife has nothing on her phone that she cares about losing? Actually would it be good to do a complete wipe? Would doing so involve me having to contact Sprint to get the phone re-activated?
Step 1 - Do the unrEVOked3 process (File - reflash_package)
Step 2 - Intsall ra recovery via SD card (File - PC36IMG)
Step 3 - Flash ROM (File - Supersonic_3.70.651.1-Odexed)

As far as your back up goes you can choose what you like. Clock work mod by default selects everything amon ra gives you a choice. I usually select boot, system, data, cache. You need at least one with wimax might as well be this one. If you moved apps to the sd card using the built in function you would back up android secure. If you have partitioned your sd card you would back up sd ext. No need I can see for recovery or google. Have I addressed all of them? I think so. Next....
Yeah you are good with titanium, back up what you want to take with you to the next rom. Keep in mind a new rom will come with most system apps like messaging, people, etc so they would be a waste of space.

Might want to back up apps to app brain if she has a lot she doesnt want to redownload in case we have to wipe. Of course make sure everything is on the google cloud . You can back up texts if she cares with a market app like sms back up/restore. This is just in case we have to wipe like I said it shouldnt actually affect data.

O.K., sounds good...I just went with boot, cache, data, nandroid, system & wimax for the last back-up.
O.K., I kinda of like the feel of Titanium...seems pretty easy to use. I also went with ASTRO so I don't have to keep plugging it in USB to my PC to delete things off the SD card.

O.K., good to know. Yeah I knew about the warranty thing...but I don't really care about that since I can just un-root if necessary. Besides the guys in the store who sold me the phone said that theirs are all rooted also.

Ahh...O.K., so clockwork is built into the unrEVOoked3 process? I would like to get rid of that and have it like mine with the amon ra, is that a difficult step to complete? And when would I be able to complete that step...before, during or after the unrEVOked3 process? So basically step 1 & 3 are one in the same when using the unrEVOked3 method?

Nandroid? What do you mean? Thats not an option that is what you were creating...anyhow...
Whenever you restore with titanium DO NOT restore SYSTEM data. Itll get all buggy. You can try and integrate system data but do not restore it. App data is fine.
Unrevoked 3 does three things, not why its unrevoked 3 but still, it unlocks security, flashes a recovery (clockwork mod), and roots your current rom. Had you run like unrevoked forever it would just unlock security.
So basically unrevoked does steps 1, 2, and 3. If you want a different recovery you can either flash it with the pc36img file for ra like we had you do or it can be flashed in rom manager (technically there are more ways to flash an image but I wont go in to detail) after unrevoked has been run. Thats the point in rooting. You cant flash a damn thing like a recovery without root so it has to be after.

I'm not sure why I said...I thought I saw that listed in the folder that contained the back-up.
O.K. Is this something that I can adjust in the settings of Titanium?
Ahh...I think I am learning more and more, So unrEVOked Forever is almost kind of what we did with my phone, after I so called "un-rooted" it, then we flashed the PC36IMG, and then flashed the Supersonic_3.70.651.1-Odexed to complete the process.
I like the way we flashed with mine not using ROM manager...I hardly know anything about this stuff yet I know I don't care for that app. I like the way I put that ROM on the SD card and went into hboot and used amon ra to flash it (I think I described all that correctly).
I really prefer the amon ra also. After I run unrEVOked3 can I just save that PC36IMG to the SD card and flash it to get the amon ra up and running? Do I need to delete clockwork separately since it is installed during the unrEVOked3 process or will flashing amon take over and do that for me?
