Root [ROM] Elelinux-7.0.0-Hero

Flashed this to show off to my iPhone 4 rival that my phone could run latest version of android but I keep getting black screens or invisible screens. For instance, if I run it for a while, holding the power button and waiting for the options to come up is useless cause the thing is invisble. Same goes for any pop up options like trying to add widgets. Maybe it's just my phone can't handle it :/

That will be 'The Bug' elelinux talks about it in post 2 and a number of posts within the long thread.
Go to post 1 under options download 'Patch for v2.0 if you got invisible menu etc..'

[ROM]Elelinux-7.0.0-Hero-v2.0 (2011-04-17)

Edit: i've just seen you have posted the same question on the thread and got the same answer.

Yeah lol, I was rushing while I was flashing it, didn't really look at any posts aside from the first one. Thanks anyway.

Changelog 2011-05-02

Version 2.1 Android 2.3.4

  • New build 20110502.195416
  • Android 2.3.4
  • Lot of new updates
  • Cleaned system and some script
  • And much much more
    biggrin.gif

As before, a full wipe (factory reset) is recommended by the dev for this one. I've had it running here for a few hours and have noticed no problems. APNs were configured correctly, data, wireless and GPS all function correctly, no wake issues with 19/691MHz clock settings.

Flashed the latest version 7.1.0-Hero-v2.1

Settings>>about phone says
Mod version :Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.1
Android Version : 2.3.4

But if I flash 3-D Maps v2.0 it now says
Settings>>about phone
Mod version :Elelinux-7.0.0-Hero-3D-Maps
Android Version : 2.3.3

So can 3D maps put the version back to 2.3.3? or is my rom still 2.3.4 but the display just says 2.3.3?

(It's only one bug I found usb tethering is not working, but look for some solution)

Hero kernel-12a is available for download as an option if you do not want Las_Venturas-0.4.3

I've had this release runningfor a couple of days and have found no issues. If coming from v2.1 then wiping cache + dalvik-cache before flashing v2.2 is perfectly safe - no need for a full wipe.p.s. @RemArcs: Maps3D-update has been updated and doesn't mess up the Android Version string. :)

1, Thanks for the heads up re the rom yet again.
2, Thanks for the foot note re 3D maps.

I don't know about everyone else but I found the battery life slightly worse in the last version so hoping this one is back to what it was.

Dammit, Elelinux has updated it AGAIN! On my way to d/l and test v2.3 now.... no rest for the wicked. :)

p.s. I've found the camera functioning erratically with the new kernel. Flashing the 2.3.4-compatible HeroKernel fixed that. Hopefully a bit more development time will see Las Venturas perfected.

Ohhh ok sorry I took what you said totally out of context. I thought you were talking about 2.1 and 2.3 in terms of android versions, not elelinux's version numbers. Sorry :)

Is there any reason why I can't install 2.2+ apps from the market on this? I'm sure I've been able to do it on this, or maybe another ROM, previously.

None at all.... what error message (if any) are you getting?

Non of them are appearing in the market though. Tried quite a few apps. Also tried installing from the web market but it says that my phone isn't compatible.

Another problem I'm having is with the SD partition. I've set to to 32+512+remainder yet my phones internal memory is still the same, I thought the portion should have led to he phone thinking there's an extra 512mb's of internal storage.

This rom is kinda sorta sluggish/unstable for me and I get a lot of LauncherPro reboots when I press home button, idk if this belongs here but what's the next best thing to this rom? Froyo-wise I mean.

Can you give me a couple of examples and I'll check with my own Hero, running 7.1.0-Hero-v2.4.

That's normal. The EXT partition is symlinked, so the OS still thinks it's installing to /data but in reality the files go to /sd-ext. Total space will still be indicated as before, but available space will decrease much less rapidly due to apps being installed to the EXT partition. I'm showing 166MB/154MB, but according to Root Explorer there's 47.87MB in /sd-ext. Titanium Backup confirms this by saying a2sd is using 50MB.

Tried enabling Menu/Settings/CyanogenMod settings/Performance/Lock home in memory?
