No offense Smacky, but this reads like arguing for the sake of arguing. Or you are trying to read WAY too much into one or two words in my post.

Error free does not equal perfect. Perfect is including everything you want/need the phone to do. This won't happen for 99.99999% out there, ever. When I say error free, I am talking about not adding errors to the mix, such as your Kenyan muskrat issue or Afghani language issues. All I am saying is that I want the update after the can of Raid has been used and not before, just because people are too impatient to wait.

Well, what I'm saying is there will always be software issues. If they spend six months from now looking for bugs, they still won't find all of them, and six months later we won't have 2.1. What I'm saying is just send it out, not raw, but refined just a little bit and make addendums as time goes on. There will be bugs then, and there will be bugs two months from now. What will the difference be? As long as it isn't sloppy, why not just push it out now?

If you need to add Sense, fine, February 12th is an acceptable time. But some people are mentioning the end of March. You want it to take however long it has to take. What about those of us that won't complain but also want it ASAP? Now that I think about it, that's what a beta-tester is. Where do I sign up?

Please, please keep this on the down low. . . But I heard from a really good unreliable friend, who actually heard it from his sister's boyfriend, who apparently was told by a guy who works the mall kiosk, who replaced the phone battery of a professional audio engineer who said the update was determined months ago, and that if you play the Eris start up sound backwards --- it says Friday April 16, 2010.:D:p:D

For goodness sake the Kenyan muskrat has darker fur than that! If you are going to go around posting photos of Muskrats at least post the proper ones so that nobody looks foolish. ;)

ur absolutely right, how silly do i look posting the wrong muskrat.
pfft..shows what i know.

im glad i didnt go the other route and post the Afghani swear words i found

Actually what I think it said was "Turn me on dead man..." (Am I dating myself?)

The information contained in the link of this post is enough to convince me that 2.1 is not coming on 1/22, but more bug fixes, that they have been putting off until then. Perhaps their technical team is very small, and has a lot of work to do?

I can't imagine that 2.1 would come to us TOO much later after the Droid. February would be wonderful. I want it to be tomorrow (today), but I'm just not convinced.

The 1/22 update will be a continuation of the updates done on 12/11.

With enthusiasm like that you know he must be telling the truth... oh wait nevermind... he put one too many ones there after the exclamation points... I guess that means he must be lying... Anyway, I look forward to when I can replicate that post truthfully... with one less "one"

THis is the response I received from HTC technical support yesterday
New Response From [ Tony (North America Support (Tech)) ]Dear ,

The Droid Eris will be getting a ROM upgrade to Android 2.1 sometime the first quarter of this year. The upgrade should address many Bluetooth issues but we can't guarantee all devices will be supported. If you need further assistance please contact us at 866.449.8358 Sun - Sat 8 am- 1am EST.

Sincerely,

HTC Support

Inquiry InformationInquiry TypeTechnical SupportInquiry DescriptionTwo questions about Android 2.1 on the droid eris. First, do you have a best guess when our phones will be upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1. The second concerns bluetooth connectivity with my car. I can pair the phone with the car to make and receive calls. However, I cannot transfer my contacts to the car. I understand that this is an issue with 1.5 and that 2.1 will address it. Is this true? Please let me know. Thanks.

Oh you guys. What happened to the sarcasm and humor in this thread? I'm a bastard. :D

Well, as karma has it, no update for me today of any kind.
