Hi All,

I rooted my phone last year using Z4Root, and am still on froyo 2.3.340 android version 2.2. My phone has been acting really buggy lately and I must take it back to VZW. They already sent me a new phone but I have to send them the old one back. How do I flash back to stock so there is no way VZW would know I rooted the phone? I was thinking I would do a factory wipe in bootloader, but am still concerned they would know i am rooted. Any help would much be appreciated. I backed up my apps using mybackup on my sd card, but I am wondering if i do a factory wipe in bootloader will this wipe my sd card also? Thanks for all the help in advance.

Wipe data and everything and then just SBF back to stock using RSD lite if on Windows :)

Sorry, but how do I wipe data and everything? Also I use windows but how do I get RSD lite?

If I do a factory data reset will this brick my phone?

Thanks!

Got into settings/Privacy/then wipe data. It will wait a min and reboot. Then all ur aps and everything is gone. Once it turns on it will asked you to set up everything a reprogram you phone.

FIRST - I would download RSD light.
Then sbf and then you are good to go :)

HEre is a link to everything you should need :)

NOTE - Under SBF files, you will want the LAST one. IT will say "FULL"

This may sound dumb but I went to the link you sent me, however I am not to sure which drivers to download, linux distro's, and so forth? Do i download it on my computer or straight to my phone? Thanks!

Download RSD lite 4.9 to your windows computer. I looked at youtube for directions....ill find you a relialbe vid. hold on...

To your phone....you sbf from your computer.

But he has to actually save the file to his computer and select it in RSD Lite. He then uses sbf to get the file to his phone.
Im not telling you, just letting him/her know. Lol def not telling you cause u are way smarter than me
Lolz :)

Thanks for the help all, sorry for what might seem like silly questions. Will try this tonight! For some reason I could only download rsd 4.8. Anyway will give it a go while I hold my breath.

OK. 4.8 SHOULD work. I have 4.9 I think. IDK.

VERY easy to do. Sometimes you WILL get stuck. I got stuck doing it yesterday. For some reason after 45 min RSD Lite brought it back to life.
MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED!!!!
Espically being your first time, incase you get stuck you battery wont die. Let us know if you have any more questions :) Good Luck!

I'm having issues with RSD 4.8; Not sure if i'm doing this right, but I have to turn off my phone, then while it's connected to the pc hold down volume, camera, power to get it into bootloader? It does not recognize it in RSD 4.8, any tips on how RSD can recognize the phone?

When you click show device in RSD Lite, it might not say anything. Mine never does...

Under number 1, it should say connected. Does you phone boot when you hold the buttons down? What does you phone screen say when it boots in BL?

It takes me to the bootloader screen where it says bootloader, 30.04, then battery ok, ok to program, transfer mode: usb.

when i first connected my x to my computer i changed it to pc mode before powering it down and loading it into bootloader

Any luck? Did it SBF?
And im not sure about which mode, I just plug it in? Are the MOTO drives already installed on your PC?

Well, some people here have "some idea" of why I don't suggest using that method as a first choice, but anyway, if it's going to cause your battery to die on you trying to fix it, I'd say just do it or you're asking for a bigger headache once the battery runs out of juice.

Next time, I suggest (not aimed at anyone in particular, but everyone who is just starting out) do a little bit (a lot) more reading before getting yourself in trouble ;)

your good man, we are just saying its always helpful to learn how to sbf properly, and what to do if things go wrong.
ie, redownload the sbf file, reboot your pc, run in admin mode(if need to) and try again

I hope i didnt instruct the OP the wrong way?? Everything i said is correct right? Just trying tk help....

I think everything you said was spot on, it's just not recognizing my phone in RSD lite; I was able to download 4.9 after trying 4.8 so many times and not recognizing it. I also downloaded the drivers again last time, with the same luck that RSD does not recognize my phone.

I did make a linux cd also and am going to try that route today also because I am not having luck with RSD.
