Hello this is Evan from Verizon NRB

Just got home from work. We had a meeting today and our manager quickly mentioned 2.3 push for the incredible. We were told the push will begin this coming Monday and it will be the FINAL software update for the Inc. I also found out that the image is already setup on the distribution servers and is ready to be deployed.

WOW. This might be the least of my worries on Monday as hell will freeze over.....

PS (Again): I really, really want to believe you.

I, as im sure other, aren't holding out breath. I would think, as happens with other phones, there would be some leak posted on the main page, or somewhere, if an update was so close. I've seen nothing. But, I'm willing to wait. But I won't be surprised when it doesn't happen... Net work problems or whatever...

Wow, this is awesome I can hardly wait until Monday. I'm so ready. But if it doesn't happen, I'm going to chalk it up to Verizon/HTC lying and I'm going to ATT iPhone. You can count on upgrades at regular times with that product. It's the trust factor.

I don't get this argument. You actually think minor iOS updates every year, are better then major android updates every 8 months. The iOS updates come out on a more predictable schedule, that's it.

Leaks do not originate from Verizon and there is already a leak out that came from HTC about a month or two ago. Once the official update starts being pushed by Verizon someone has to extract the location of the download so that the devs can get a copy to make a custom ROM. I forget how they extract the URL but it entails running the update with some type program that creates a log file I think.

And, of course, eventually a full release of the RUU and code ultimately follow as required under the open source agreements. Then the developers really get into it.

Fact is, I'm already running a GingerSense ROM with features from 2.1 and 3.0. The OTA update will ultimately be a downgrade until the developers get their hands on it.

The memory partition is the thing that is killing me. It seems like all other phones can download unlimited apps and not get the low app space error. I was told that HTC was going to increase or eliminate the partition in GB. Other than that, I love the Incredible and plan to keep it until December when I can upgrade or even beyond. I guess I could root, but I am not very comfortable doing that and I don't feel I should have to. If companies are going to participate in an open platform...they need to support that platform..(hear me Verizon?) I wish Verizon would get a nexus phone.

I love HTC. The Incredible is the best phone I ever had. I would totally go for a dual core/Sensation variant for my next phone....even if it means I have to wait for OS updates. I just wish HTC would put bigger batteries in these things!

Man, I really recommend you root. For the things it sounds like you want, you can get them all and MORE. Rooting gives you so many possibilities its unreal, and safe. Use unrevoked to root and make sure you follow all instructions when flashing roms. Its really amazingly simple and easy. When I rooted my dinc, I hadn't done any research at all, just decided to do it at work and boom. It was done. I watched an instructional youtube video and within 15 min, I was rooted. Doing it so spur of the moment wasn't wise but it shows how easy and safe it is. I have a sense rom (virtuous) and cm7 nightly that I jump back and forth to. I cannot begin to list the advantages. It wouldn't be something you had to do so you could have 2.3.4 gingerbread, but something you'd do that would actually give you the access to your expensive phone that you didn't know you had. Right now, you have access to %10 of your phone. If you want to know more about how and why you should root, pm me.

I got the update today, and Evan was right, it is newer than the leaked update from earlier! Imagine my surprise after the install, when I realized I was running Honeycomb! Screen shots to follow, once I get my network issues sorted...

edit: My network is sorted, but now I am having a hard time taking pictures that are properly in focus to show off my Honeycombness....I should have that worked out soon though...

edit: I have the pictures, but can't get them uploaded here right now...I'm having vampire issues...

Well its Monday... Anyone got an update notification yet?
Not sure... Do you know the muffin man??

Honeycomb huh? Pity this is the Gingerbread thread:)

Oh, I'm sure Evan will pop in this afternoon to say there were "network issues" or "last minute hold ups" or "vampires attacks at Verizon" or "moon shifting orbits" or something that prevented it from happening :D

(I do want to believe... really.. but...)

Its NOT Vampires... its MARTIANS jeez get it right...

ack ack! ack ack! :)

Get your os straight. You probably meant Gingerbread if you were honest about the update. But the fact that you're referring to an update to a tab os makes me even more skeptical. You "insider" posters are probably rolling on the ground after your silly unsubstantiated posts.

I think his post was meant as sarcasm, because everyone knows its the werewolves that stop screen shot uploads, not vampires :P

Wow...I can't believe my post about network outtages, vampires, and updates that skipped Gingerbread and went right to Honeycomb were actually taken seriously. Holy smokes, what does a guy have to do to make it obvious that he is having a little fun!?!?

bunnies, any post not containing bunnies is considered factual.

I have solved the vampire issues (downloaded the new Honeycomb specific garlic app), but unfortunately, bunnies are currently holding me down, preventing me from releasing any more info about my over-the-air upgrade to Honeycomb. I have sent a request to my manager about the bunny issues. He has said they should have a solution in the next few days, and I should be able to share screen shots with you then.

Cheers
