Once you're on CM7 just delete the Bootstrap app, you get into recovery by holding down the power button and selecting "reboot" then "recovery".

I'll find the camera.zip for you and post the link here. HERE it is, just flash it in recovery. Your battery life may not be great for a couple days but it will settle down, just give it a little time.

Edit: One more thing, don't forget to download and install the GApps, you will get a pop-up for them when you download through ROM Manager.

On nightly 14 right now and my lock screen is messed up. i have a pattern lock set and when i turn on the screen it goes straight to the pattern unlock. any suggestions? i get the proper unlock screen when the pattern lock is disabled but i like having my phone locked.

It's an app, similar to the TBH app but it's actually more useful. Here's some of the features listed on the Market, I believe you need the premium version to get the latest Nightlies. I like the automatic backups feature. When you use the app to download the latest nightly you have the option to make a backup, then the phone reboots, makes the backup for you and then installs the Nightly.

Uh, no. OEMs don't add features because they somehow find the base OS so lacking that they think their users simply can't live without them. OEMs add features to differentiate themselves from the competition. Period. The hardware can only be changed so much, so the OEMs are banking on people picking one skin over another when they go to make their buying decision.

Two things: apps that are never called typically don't start (some apps run at startup, I know), and apps that are running in the background use few to no resources. The user doesn't have to know how to remove the old app.

The whole point here, though, is that you have choices to load apps that replace core system functions like cameras and dialers and image galleries. You don't get that choice when Motorola or HTC use a heavy-handed approach and make extreme modifications to the whole system. Individual components from Blur or Sense are great, but they should be bolt-ons, not system replacements.

First boot may take some time. I can't remember if I had to clear sysetm / data or not the first time but nevertheless, try giving it more time to boot. May take up to 10 min.s if I recall.

I did not use the monster.zip. I sbf'ed to froyo. Downloaded the latest nightly and then flashed it.

This is what I did, minus enjoy.

1. SBF back to Froyo
2. Root Froyo with z4 root
3. Install Bootstrapper
4. Flash the latest CM build
5. Enjoy?

If it's still bootlooping. Boot into recovery, I believe it's still power/Home then Search key at the !. Wipe data / factory restore I think...

I've done a few battery pulls to no avail. Gonna let it bootloop for 10 mins like you said. If it does after that I will try a factory restore.

I think I may have gotten too excited when I saw you were ready to try it out finally...lol. I'm not sure if you can just flash a Nightly and get a complete install or not, if the reset doesn't fix it you'll have to do it again but with the monster.zip, then the latest Nightly.

Installing the latest Nightly will fix MMS and the GPS issue.

Yes. Install the latest nightly or at least 7 I think (might as well do 15) to get the GPS sorted.

The steps are as follows (once the zip is on your SDCard and you are in recovery):

1. go to mounts and storage
2. format system
3. format data
4. format cache
5. mount system
6. go back
7. go to install zip from sdcard
8. select the update-cm-*-MONSTER.zip
9. install
10. install gapps (optionally)

YOU WILL GET A RADIO INSTALL ERROR IGNORE THIS AND RESTART PHONE

To install the Radio **** Must be done for GPS to work***
After intial install of CM7

1) hold down power button and select reboot and then recovery
2) in recovery select "install zip from sdard"
3) select "chose zip from sdcard"
4) find the Monster.zip and install
5) Reboot phone

AOSP and most android phones in general skip the unlock when the pattern is activated. AFAIK there is no way around this.

I really don't care too much about the dialer, it's actually the one thing I use the least. But I will agree that the Blur Camera is much better than the AOSP camera.

I don't care for either. Blur camera is just as bad (IMO); I've not seen.
I don't dial numbers that are in my contacts list either. I don't need predictive text. I had the StarTac.

Neither of these features are important to ME. But Flac playback is and it's PATHETIC that a modern day multimedia phone can't play Flac. It's a feature I cannot give up, hence no MotoBlur for me (even at the expense of the camera - for now).

Point is, if you can't use your phone without Blur features, don't. There's no need to belittle CMod7 (or Blur for that matter). We're adults and we all know what we're getting into with CMod7. Let's keep the thread level headed and on topic.

There's no info on when it will actually be fixed through a Nightly but there is a .zip you can install that will fix the camera/youtube problem.

im in no way "frothing at the mouth" lol it makes me chuckle that the AOSP dialer is the way it is...its sad...

if the original StarTac, or the phone hanging on my wall can do something...my "smartphone" should be able to pull it off as well

yeah...and features like speed dial are things they add...because they are basic functions that a phone should be able to accomplish..

i never said it was something someone can't live without...its just a feature the dialer should have...

im all for choices...and that isn't what this is about...this is a simple fact that the AOSP dialer is missing basic phone functions...and that is pretty sad...
