Root [BETA]Cyanogen!! Landed!!! :) Go get it![Updated 7/12/2011]

Wow! What's going on in here? I will be deleting some things here. It seems as if the same folks are getting into it. Please just stick to the issues and report thing that break the rules. If you take it upon yourselves to get into an argument, rather than hitting the report button, all you are doing is risking infraction/probation/ban on yourself.

Just report stuff and don't react, okay?

I have had it with the cut throat mentality around here. This is a safe place for all of us with true issues to air our opinions but to see what has happened with a new "Alpha" build for our device aggrivates me to no end. WE speak the truth and nothing else. Remember your roots folks. Be helpful to others and push the Android initiative. /rant Back to fixing our devices. Happy Independence Day!

anyone know if the gtalk with video app works on our cm7?

Ok so real quick folks....
On build #20,
I have NOT lost 3G data connection, not once.
Screen Capturing is now native. (built into CM4DX)

To perform a screenshot in CM4DX with CMScreenshot,
Press and hold the power button down until you get the popup boot option screen...
Screen Shot is now in the list as an option.

I'm on Nightly Build #20 and I have GTalk 1.3 with Video and Voice chat successfully installed and set up.

I need someone else with CM4DX that is also using the modified GTalk 1.3 with video and voice chat, to send me their GTalk email via Private Message.
(You can install Talk 1.3 via market by searching for "talk 1.3 installer" or searching on XDA. Once you have installed talk 1.3, the 1st launch will immediately back out of talk 1.3. Launch Talk 1.3 a 2nd time, it will automatically sign you out of your Google accounts in order for GTalk 1.3 to work. Sign your Google account(s) back in and have a go with Talk 1.3. Tap on your status, you will then see a checkbox appear for video and voice chat... Make sure it is selected and hit done. )

I'd like to verify whether or not this works on CM4DX.

"in the grand scheme of things"?
so, if I read this correctly, adding a Dutch translation to the desk clock was way more important than getting on board hardware to work?
Yes the devs do a hell of a lot of work, and they're doing it without being paid to do it by us. But really? We have all pretty much voiced concern over hardware issues and battery life, but those issues are apparently not "in the grand scheme of things", since adding numerous languages is more important. I guess that's so more users around the world can notice the camera, GPS, battery, Bluetooth, etc. don't work yet.
You have to keep in mind that CM has a whole team working on CM7 and the changelog reflects mostly what they fix etc. cvpcs n the devs helping him are small in comparison to the whole thats working on CM7 itself. So when you see stuff fixed like what you stated prolly had nothing to do with what cvpcs n those helping him are working on fixing. ;)

NOTE: None of my comments are personal in nature, just stating my opinion based on my lil experience working with CM7-Ascend.

Hmmm best battery life on CM ive seen so far with very heavy usage for first few hrs. 80% on 13.3 hrs I think most of battery issues are from not letting it settle for a few days, but i noticed the first big improvement by not using the TBH monster zip on the second run.

How is everyone else's battery life with 20% left. Once I hit 20% I can only squeeze 20 minutes or less before my phone powers off. I seem to also loose 10% battery every 2 hours just sitting idle. I went to bed last night with 40% battery and the phone was powered off again this morning. I did a full SBF and went straight to build 15 (current at the time) and installed the camera fix. Battery life until 40% is pretty good. I was at 13 hours before I hit 40% I'm going back to GB for a while. I need a decent camera and camcorder for the weekend and the ASOP one's are not cutting it. I'll be back to CM once the battery issues are sorted out.

People with battery problems, are you taking steps to find out what is actually draining the battery?

I mean, I see battery complaints left and right, but virtually nothing like, "I have battery problems... and this is what Battery manager shows/tells me."

I mean, damn, we have a really sweet battery manager. It shows % of battery drained by app, and has this stellar little chart that shows discharge rate, when the phone was awake, when Wifi was on, etc. Virtually every time I have a weird battery discharge - CM7 or not - I can go into the battery manager and immediately pinpoint the problem. A runaway app, or seeing that I lost signal and it correlated with a precipitous drop in the graph, or whatever.

I could not agree with you more and with build #20 having the built in screen capture there really should be no reason that people could not even post a screen shoot. I have found that people here are more than willing to help others trouble shoot if given the complete information.

On a sad note later today I will be losing my original X that I got 11 months ago. Last Wednesday the bottom 1/8 of an inch of my screen started flaking out. I called and my refurbished replacement will be here later today. I just hope it is overall as good as what I got the first time. No matter what I seemed to throw at it, it would take. I was able to go to 1.45 OC (even though I never kept it there) and never had a problem, I put almost every ROM on it and had very little problems. I almost was not going to call since the phone was so good, but just hoping that the replacement is as good because this is by far my favorite phone I have every owned or messed around with.

My old phone could only handle 1.1 GHz, no matter how I set the voltages (within reason, I didn't try cranking it up). Always got reboots if I went above 1.1.

My refurb overclocks like a madman. It was totally stable at 1.45 GHz, I was tempted to try higher but never experimented much.

Is build #20 worth the update. I'm sitting on #19 right now.

Maybe. How much do you screenshot? They added screenshot abilities via power button action menu & also touch-to-focus for the camera.
Rest of stuff was meh..so only those 2 things are really note worthy.

Not very much. If that is the only advantage maybe I will just wait a bit. Thanks brother.

What are you guys using to OC?

Thanks.

I've been using Quick Clock Advance, the newest update allows the settings to finally kick in on a reboot. I'm using the stock clock speed but at a lower voltage.

The battery manager isn't very descriptive it just says that the Android OS is taking most of the battery 37% with the Use details showing CPU total 1h 1m 12s.

There's no way I can immediately tell what's sucking up all the battery it's not showing any time without signal no apps that are draining the battery, I'm getting half the battery life I would get in the same circumstances.

Thanks. Maybe I should pick up this app. I hate to since I love jrummy's but heard there were too many issues with it sadly.

I think this was the best way for me. Battery life with using the monster zip was terrible. If I sbf'd back to .340 and then installed one of the nightlies, it was much better.

Now that is impressive. Sadly, I cannot say the same for cm7 on my x. I will probably keep it for a bit but in the end, will most likely ditch it and go back to Liberty or Apex where battery life was good.

If you're thinking about try Quick Clock Advance you may want to do so before you switch back to Liberty or Apex. If you use the stock speeds at lower voltages you should get better battery life.

Guess I'll update tomorrow morning, then. I'm actually way back on, oh, #10 or something because there wasn't a convincing reason to upgrade. But built-in screenshots are nice!

This is the same with me. I noticed on #18 that the settings started loading on reboot, I had not done a nightly update since #10 prior to that.

I still have not had a reason to have to overclock my phone yet, everything with stock speeds seems to fly. I am just undervolting to get better battery life. I seem to be getting about 5% drain an hour with normal use (which is 4 gmail accounts with 3 to 4 e-mails an hour, a few texts and tweet deck updating facebook and twitter every 15 minutes and I would say viewing a story or two from twitter on the web).

I took some pictures of daytime 4th of July stuff and a few videos yesterday that turned out real good with the MIUI camera. If I could ever figure out how to add a picture (not the small attachment) to my post I would put a couple up for you all to see. I am very happy with the video and picture quality.
