I just updated to Lite'ning ROM - which I believe is based on 2.3.4
Phone is way snappier, wifi seems better.
Can't comment on battery life as I only got the phone on Saturday.....
Has my SIM been mangled? Should I choose a different CSC? Any ideas?
And again in English?
Don't know the tech details. I read in the notes that its based on the leaked 2.3.4rom.
Either way, it was easy to do and makes a huge improvement t.
flashed the new firmware, however i'm not sure if i had this originally but when i'm on my homescreens and scrolling there is a tiny hint of lag or dropped frames or something as when it slides over to the next screen there is tiny jutters which stop it from having that smooth transition
anyone else notice this?
other tiny changes i've noticed, pattern lock is different when unlocking now circles are not shaded green, in messaging the create new message icon is larger then it used it be
The very slight lag is a known issue in the 2.3.4 leaked version. There are plus and negative sides to KG1 (You would hope it would all be positives with newer firmwares lol)
So you find wifi to be even worse now??![]()
I think the WiFi reception is as good, maybe a little bit better. I didn't have any real issue with WiFi reception before the update. But it *seems* to me that the battery dies quicker when WiFi is on after the update than it did when WiFi was on before the update. Could they be channelling a bit more juice into the WiFi?
1. Will flashing via odin remove warranty?
2. Is it the official 2.3.4 update? Do I need to be afraid of bugs? I mean is it a 'beta' thing under development?
Or is this the same thing we will get after waiting for a month or so?
3. Will my old apps installed on 2.3.3 still work on 2.3.4?
1. Yes, though you can flash back to stock and use a USB jig if needed to reset flash count.
2. No, its leaked.
3. Most will, but some users have reported some apps that dont.
k, I flashed it, and is working great. Thanks!
So will I get the warranty back if I flash I9100XWKE7_I9100XXKE4_I9100XEUKD1_HOME via odin? It is the stock 2.3.3 firmware(XWKE7)
This is the download link http://androidadvices.com/downloads/I9100XWKE7_XEUKD1_XXKE4.zip

Assuming you use a USB jig to reset the counter. I havent used one myself though from reading they are dead simple to use, and can be bought off ebay for a few bucks.
I wouldnt worry about warranty anyway![]()
k..
thanks!
I came to know that flashing the stock and hard reset will return the warranty.

And the USB jig to reset the counter![]()
You might want to check out this thread. Not sure if it works for prepaid plans but resolved my AT&T data issue post-2.3.4 install:I bought my S2 in the US, the original ersatz firmware worked well with prepaid AT&T, except for an occasionally runaway Wi-Fi Sharing process. I decided to try 2.3.4, which has been working superbly on my Nexus One since February.
Okay, followed the instructions, thanks guys, everything smooth. On reboot, everything looks fine, versions are correct. Cellular phone calls work fine, but no cellular data. WiFi is fine, etc. I noticed the default CSC was KOR, so I switched over to XEU. No joy.
I noticed that the APN entry "WAP.CINGULAR" that I selected is greyed out - I cannot edit the entries. The other two APN selections "Phone" and "Broadband" are editable.
