yea its best to try em all out and find what suits you best. PM is good to flash if your on the 2.2 Metro update. CM6 is better as its built from src. And IMO CM7 kicks butt but due to lack of hardware support and dev interest some functionality is limited, mainly the camera.
 
just wanted to say thankyou everyone for the help especially canodope im sorry for my noobness lol still havent gotten my phone to acknowledge my sd card but appreciate evryone on here maybe i should just give up blah

I'm glad I could help. And no worries about the noobness, I'm still a noob too. Lol. Everything I know I've learned here at AF and at XDA just in the last month or so.
 
Well i installed icarus 1.1 today and now my internet wont work. The 3g indicator keeps flashing on and off on my status bar. I then put cm6 on it hoping my 3g would come back but no luck. Wifi works but no 3g... any suggestions would b much appreciated.

factory reset is always the answer lol ;)

Try 'fix permissions' &/or dialing *228.
 
first let me start by saying to all the Devs that mad all these great mods and thanks to you for making this great walk-through. I never would have tried to do this if not for you guys. Now with that out of the way I am having a problem with my data connection I don't have one. that is a problem would you not agree. if there is any way to fix this please let me know. I am running CM6 the AWD version

Are you in Metro or Cricket?
 
Not sure if its the same issue I was having... but when I originally went to cm6 I was having similar problems. It turned out that it was due to something I restored via TIBU. Try reflashing the ROM without restoring... You should still back everything up, incase you get a bad flash, but don't restore anything.

Well metro and cricket ROMS are not different at all, only that metro has a 2.2 ROM for the 2.2 update that i dont think cricket has.
And we can not tell you the best since so many people have different opinions.
If you really want an opinion on the best, than i have to go with CM7 RC1 07082011 BobZhome.
But just try each of the ROMs and different builds and stick to the one you like the best. Icarcus,CM6, and CM7 are the main ROM's but try the different builds from CM7, they are all awesome!
 
Sorry I dont so alot of forums. I am on Cricket and I have tried CM6 (what I am on now) an CM7 and going to try bobs CM7 next I like them all so far just miner little things so far though I dont think that either one has gotten Data working. I will llet you guys know when I reflash Bob's CM7 later today

I rooted with Z4root, and it worked great, and EASY!!!!!
I downloaded and bought the RoM Manager from the Market because after weeks of reading, reading, and reading some more, I just couldn't bring myself to install a RoM myself. The only 2 RoM's that popped up for me was PlayfulGod & Cyanamogen 7.

I first chose Cyan... and it was great except the Market was gone, and a few other things didn't work all of a sudden. Then when I tried to change with RoM Manager it kept saying I needed to get the newer version. Long story short, I was finally able to switch over to PlayfulGod via RoM Manager. It's been a long few days, I don't remember what it was that made me want to go back to Cyan, but I figured I could just download a new Market and all would be fine. So, RoM Manager again ... download Cyan, install, backup. While it was backing up I went to sleep.

When I woke up this morning, my phone was in a looping bootmode! I get the movie thing that Cyan boots up with, then the android guy - then the movie again, android guy, movie android, over and over. I can't even get to the Volume Down, End, Power spot. When I try, I get the Huawei screen and that's all it'll do.

I was too scared to "flash" a RoM myself, and now I am completely lost. Please help me fix my phone ...

okay first theres nothing to be scared of just make a backup of the stock rom you had. And with the boot loop, is it 6242011? build you flashed? im confused. if its in boot loop and u tried taking out the battery and it still there then get a sd card reader and connect your sd card to it to your pc and put the ROM you want on it in your main sd card while it is in ZIP. now make sure to put the rom itself and the gapps that go with it. And if its CM7 and your metro then put the metro fix in there to. Now when you do "vol. down + end call +power" it suppose to be at the huawei screen, that is where you install the CWM. if you havn't already go here. and install it, and then go to that recovery mode (vol. UP + open call button +power) and do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalivk cache (in advance) and go to mounts and storage and format
boot
data
system
cache
then go to install zip from sd card and chose the ROM,gapps, and maybe metro fix!
and then reboot and now try. if it still there go to CWM and do fix permissions. if it still does try another ROM cause your phone can not handle that ROM (OC, yours might be lazy)

Okay, here we go ... I just got home from work, after stopping off at Best Buy to get a card reader. I'm re-reading your quick instructions and crossing my fingers ... thank you for your help!

This forum is the best thanks everyone got cm7 installed and loving it I have version 05212011 is there a newer version with USB or mms and camerha fixes thanks devs and tokenpoke for such a great job:)

Bobz 0708 has USB mounting issues (was supposed to be fixed in his newer build that he was unable to complete.. Bobz 0701 doesnt.. and PG 0624 doesn't as far as I know, what I'm probably flashing tonight.. :D

Went to PG 0624, USB issues gone, working like a charm, flashing the OC kernel even though I don't think I can handle 748, just a flashaholic :D Well, before I could even get that sentence done with I clicked 748 and it crashed instantaneously.. anyways..

sometimes you have to literally put your foot on it...lol
 
Its been 3days and still no data service. This started right after i flashed to icarus. I now have cm7.1 and i still have no data. My 3g symbol flashes constantly and the signal bars light up green for a second. Ive called customer support and they said something about cricket merging with another company on sunday but the customer support lady was kinda hard understand. I tried calling *228 activation successful but still nothing. I put in *#*#4636*#*# and went to data info to run diagnostic and it constantly says connected/connecting. I like cm7 but im considering going back to stock if i cant use my 3g theres no point in paying 65 a month if i cant get online w/o a wifi connection.
