Let's talk cases for the HTC EVO 3D.

I have to admit, I absolutely love the look of those cases. I am trying to add a kickstand without adding any bulk to the phone. But if I have to get a bulky case, those ballistics cases look pretty nice.
i am a bull in a china shop, so with these phones its a must for me. i cracked 3 screens on my plam pre... thats all im saying

This is the Body Glove case I have, in this exact color. At first I was conscious about the purple not being masculine, but seeing as it is one of my favorite colors next to black, I'm okay with it. So far I haven't had any issues with it, but the kickstand is a bit flimsy. However it does a pretty good job at holding up the phone upright, even if it's plugged in to the charger. It's also easy to remove the phone from it, unlike a few other cases from competing brands I've heard about around here.

Does Ballistic case have a kickstand the one kind of looked like a red kickstand.

From their site:

Advanced five layer protection
Layer 1 – Built in screen protector
Layer 2 – Ballistic shock absorbent polymer
Layer 3 – Tough impact resistant polycarbonate
Layer 4 – An additional layer of our Ballistic shock absorbent polymer
Layer 5 – Optional outer layer of silicon, with plugs for all ports
Equipped with an easily re-attachable, built in kickstand
Includes an extremely durable, rotating holster
Equipped with water resistant mesh to cover all speakers

If my new EVO 3D is good this will be my case as well. I am going to contact them again to get an updated eta. I will let you know what their response is.

I just received a response from Ballistic. Sadly the wait is longer that I expected after the first two times that I contacted them. Here is the reply that I just received :( If I hear something sooner I will post it here.

Good morning/afternoon Jeff,

I have only heard that we are expecting the SG case to be released 2 to 3rd week in August.

The HC case should be released 2 week in September.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Should it become available sooner I will let you know.

Guess I'm gonna order the Seidio one with a kickstand I guess. My friend didn't like the white casemate pop and sent it back. I wish Seidio would make an Active case with kickstand also besides the Surface.

God ****ing DAMMIT!!! I blame you, BlackDynamite, for all your moaning that it should be a cover, not a case. Are you happy, now?

:p

Case-Mate Barely There. End of story (if the story is your preference of minimal, snap on protection of course).

Lol, so much for it being official that it was a case and not a battery cover. Looks like the only thing official was that nothing was set in stone.

Well my 2 beefs with this phone are the charging port being on the side instead of the bottom, and no kickstand. Stupid decisions on HTC's part.

I guess I'm waiting for that cool looking ballistic case unless a better case, or preferably a battery cover gets announced.

I have found my perfect case combo:

1) PhantomSkinz screen protector + camera protector ($8 after coupon)
2) Best Buy Platinum holster case (made by Seidio) - $35 + tax
3) eBay TPU case - $4

Best combination of protection, usability, and convenience: :D

I didn't use the included Best Buy Platinum case that came with the holster as it didn't protect the camera, and it was rigid, which I don't like as much. The TPU case + holster + PhantomSkinz = AWESOME!!

How is that TPU case by the way? Is it rubbery or hard? I was worried that a rubbery or silicone style case would cause heating problems with heavy use of the handset. I am in a bind and need a case as soon as possible and I want one that is not super bulky, and could potentially be slipped into a pouch for my belt.

If, by any chance, you could share the eBay link to the case, I would be grateful. Also, any added insight on the case would be appreciated. For example, does this case press against the glass of the rear camera pod or is it above it? I am worried dust will work its way in there and get pushed against it and scratch it.

I went to the Best Buy store inside my local mall tonight, and the girl showed me that two piece case that snaps together. This version had a kickstand, but it was so flimsy, I was affraid that if I stood it upright for more than 5 minutes on its own with the cable attached, it would fall down. I don't remember the name of the case manufacture, but it was extremely difficult to remove. Come to think of it, I do remember that PT logo embedded in it, like the picture of the case above. It took the salesgirl at least 12 minutes to get the case off, because there was a pressure point where the two pieces jointed that she needed to apply pressure. The case looked nice and was sturdy, but my Body Glove kickstand is far more superior compared to that one. That was the deal breaker for me. Had it been equal in strength, I would have a new case by now.

As soon as the Ballistic case comes out, I'll be sure to check it out. I hope it'll be the one to replace my purple BG, and quick. Because it's not cool for a guy working in a masculine industry to carry a purple phone around.

I just got my Seido Active case. This thing is awesome. I got it off Amazon for like 22 bucks and it was well worth it. The rubber/silicone on the sides is much more sturdy than the otterbox and everything is cut perfectly. It has a great feel for the piece that is on top of the power button as well as the rubber on top of the camera button. Additionally, it also leaves the entire speaker opening uncovered unlike my old body glove case. I got the black on black case and it is quite cool looking. It does attract lint but I am told that goes away after the first week

To clarify to others, just in case, the one you are likely referring to is more of a "slider" style than a snap together one, with top and bottom pieces that slide onto the phone and meet in the middle. You're right in that they can be difficult to remove (I tried a white one and wondered if I'd ever get it off) but some aren't. The black one I purchased comes off with relative ease.

As far as the kickstand goes, yes it is plastic but I wouldn't be all that worried about the strength of it. Use of the kickstand means the phone is literally sitting stationary and unless something fell on it, I doubt this part would fail. Now what should concern people is that, from what I recall, the position of the kickstand prohibits charging while using it.

I love my Active case my favorite case ever. For some reason it's so much easier holding my phone and typing or surfing the web. It fits nice in my hand. I can't wait for the dock that there making that will hold phone with the case on.

The thing about my Body Glove kickstand is that it can be used in 3 positions. Vertically, and both horizontal sides, which comes in handy if I'm watching a movie and charging it at the same time. It's the only versatile one I've seen so far, but I still need to replace it with something more durable and attractive.

I actually liked the look of the slider, but the kickstand was so weak that I didn't want to take any chances and waste my money yet again. If and when the Ballistic case comes out, I'll be sure to look into that one, since it's my first choice.

I think I may get the body glove purple one just to have for now to use at work when listening to music or to stand up while I am sitting at my desk. I saw it online in pink for cheaper and then the store showed it to me and I didn't like the way the top and bottom weren't completely covered in the front but I won't be using it for every day. I love my Seidio Active but I need something for now with a kickstand and I can charge this to my Sprint bill so I think I'll go get one tomorrow when I'm off. Is it easy to take on and off?
