Root Media volume lowers without intervention

As said in the topic title, the media volume while I'm listening to music lowers by itself. I cannot find a solution. I am on Velocity 1.1.

I turn it back up and sometimes it fights me to go back down. Rebooting the phone does not help the situation.

Edit: I forgot to mention that this happens with ALL music apps.

Any ideas?
 
Wanted to report back that I cleaned it with compressed air and it continued to do it.

I flashed back to 2.2.2 stock rooted and it no longer does it.

Yes i noticed it used to do it on mine as well. But lately it hasnt...i did reflash the rom :) wipe multiple times oh and cleaned the jack lol
 
I haven't had this issue but I wonder if using something like Winamp from the market in place of Velocity's defult player would make a difference?

If it's a hardware issue, then switching player wont make a difference. If it's a software type issue, then maybe it could make a difference. If neither one, then IDFK.lol
 
Another update: I switched from stock 2.2.2 to Velocity 1.1 again, and the problem came right back. It didn't do it on stock 2.2.2 rooted.

It happens with all apps. Winamp, Xiialive, Pandora, doubleTwist, MIUI Music and MP3 Download Lite. This leads me to believe it's a Velocity issue and not an issue with my headphone jack, as it does not happen on 2.2.2 stock rooted with any of these apps.

Winamp stopped working on Velocity and started FCing all the time so I ended up uninstalling it, and the same for Pandora. And also, Winamp and Pandora both work on 2.2.2 stock rooted, but FC on Velocity.

I probably won't use Velocity anymore, I'm going to go switch back to 2.2.2 stock rooted.
 
Same problem, both with velocity 1.0 and 1.1. Noticed it for the first time today. Tried cleaning the jack and a new pair of headphones, music mod app and googles music app. Seems intermittent because its working fine now (no reboot)... suggestions?

Maybe you got a bad download or something. Re-download velocity1.1 from a high speed connection. I would download the full version (zip file), put it on the SD card root directory, wipe everything a couple of times, pull the battery, then flash the zip from recovery. That's the way I did mine. My phone stays in my pocket so I'm sure my jack is dirty but I've had zero problems with any of my music apps. That's the only solution I can give you.....
 
The problem has happened to me. It seems to do it when going in and out of service while playing pandora. I thought it was turning it down just before pandora freezes up when it looses service while playing. I don't know if it is causing it or not. I haven't had the volume lower on other music apps yet. I did remember it doing the volume thing one day and we played with the cord thought that was it but it does it even if no one touches the cord or not
 
My Ally has been doing this also since I updated to Velocity 1.1. I have had to resort to using an app called Volume Locker. My phone will turn the volume all the way up or down randomly while playing media. The app works pretty well but there is always a little lag from when the volume changes to when Volume Locker resets it.
 
I can give you a viewpoint unlike many, because I do not use social networking nor do I use all the common media apps I see mentioned, such as Pandora, Slacker, Last.fm, etc. That said, I have never encountered this problem of volume changing. I 'have' encountered total loss of audio, due to dust in the headphone jack, 3 or 4 times since the Ally was new. Compressed air fixed that each time.

So, I am thinking whatever the problem's cause, it may be due to a combination of Velocity ROM and, say, Pandora, running together. I've seen such issues in the Windows Mobile and Palm OS platforms, and of course in Windows' various desktop versions. Sometimes the files (as DLL files, in the case of Windows) necessary to the operation of one program, or even the OS, get overwritten by installing another program, with undesired consequences. Many Windows shareware apps for example have poorly written or outdated DLLs which supercede essential ones when the shareware app is installed. Perhaps something line that is causing this volume issue?
 
I have had the phone connected to my old stereo in the garage out doing outside work all day long and not once had it do it. But when I'm in the car travelling it starts out here and there and gets worse to the point you are fighting the volume until you get tired of driving and fighting with the volume button if that seems to help (maybe when the phone is switching between cell towers it does it but at a constant signal like in the garage it doesn't)
 
To me, that suggests possible intermittent or partially intermittent connections (due to vibration during movement of the vehicle), which could point back to our beloved headphone jack. Not knowing what kind of vehicle or how you have the Ally resting during the trip, I would be inclined to suggest trying the Ally nestled in a nice soft pillow in your vehicle, while driving the same route, just to see if it made a difference. If not, run the same test after cleaning the jack. If still no difference then it sounds like an internal issue.
 
It actually started doing it on its own with miui in the garage a few times since I last posted. I'm sure its something to do with the audio subsystem inside of velocity as I never had the problem with the stock rom. But to be sure I might flash stock rooted rom back on here to seeif it would be fixed. Also even sitting in the parking lot at wal-mart while my gf was shopping (can't stand walking around in the womens section for 2 hours telling her yes hunny you're still sexy) it was doing it. After I reset the phone it was fixed for a while then randomly it starts back up again fighting for control.

Oh god don't get me started. She already wants to gut out my "man cave" spare bedroom to make a nursery/baby room with pink or blue paint. How terrible and we don't even have plans for children at this point.

Btw I'm back on slow verizon bloated up stock rom. Rooted of course to rid the annoyances of buying crap apps to slow my phone down even more to see if the volum still has issues. I don't want to switch back because velocity just rocks. But the couple of major glitches I'm having forces me to. For now it'll have to do. I'm really sorry the devs couldn't make velocity better by either merging their great code into cyanogenmod or making a better version to 1.1
 
Sure sounds like offspring have gotten on her radar. :)

Please keep us posted if your fallback to stock helps. I'm having an issue recently with velocity 1.1 spontaneously rebooting several times a day. I cut back the OCing and have yet to see an improvement. I would hate to go stock too. I would be a whole different world again on the Ally. (And one far less useful).
