Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

Are you sure? I just went to the market website via computer and it says its compatible.

I did read that it was for 1ghz+ devices but since it let me install it I gave it a shot.

I'm certain, and you just confirmed what I said. But it sounds like he may have tested it and found that it works best on phones that are that fast, but who knows. Probably best to ask the dev if there's any problems, there's almost if not always a link to the dev's website.

Works on my phone, I use it for nightmode on sense rom.

Yup reflashed cleared everything I ended up brining it to metro and payed 35 for a new one thats glitchy as hell cant wait to flash this phone

Used this thread to nand backup stock 2.2.1, install custom recovery, and ROM to CM7-Beta for LG Optimus M. Running flawlessly with no reboot issues that I was plagued with in 2.2.1 stock.

Change home wallpaper to live wallpaper, disable CM display animations, and enjoy. This is awesome. I TRUELY own my phone now. 2.3.3 couldn't be any better! Especially because I use a WiFi enabled Droid running CM 7 and Google Voice. This allows me to be able to enjoy them both and not be confused about settings and the likes. Also allows me to take my home phone ANYWHERE!!

Backed up Metro Navigator before because it was a great app, and worked awesome as a "Garmin/Tom Tom" while traveling from jobsite to jobsite. Also backed up Metro Easy WiFi. Both awesome apps. (Easy WiFi will automatically save/login to thousands of pre-enabled WiFi access points. Superb app, really.)

Anyone have an idea about getting an overclocked kernel as well as installing said kernel? Phone runs awesomely with CM7 ROM, however Market force closes randomly and I can tell the difference between the Droid and the Optimus M (Speed wise. Droid is MUCH faster, however has less internal RAM as well as internal storage.).

I think the ARMv6 processor has MUCH more capabilities than LG (Or any other manufacturer for that matter.) is letting on. I've heard of users OC'ing to ~730hz safely, and I am completely prepared to attempt such a project. I know I'll never get Adobe Flash to work, but I'm OK with that. I just wanna make sure the FC/Reboot issue is GONE.

Suggestions welcome. Also, after about a half year lurking, and sapping up as much info about the A855 Droid, I'm super happy to be making my first actual post. Awesome testament to the userbase and forum management, as to keep noob-***** like me from asking repeated questions.

Also, HI GUIS!!

Welcome and thanks for doing your part on researching before asking. As to an OC kernel for the Optimus M, go here: http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/347684-kernel-optimusm-oc-stock-2-2-1-a.html

And most of us can OC past that. The least I've seen someone OC is 729. I can go 748 to 768, but 748 has the best stability without random reboots. Some people on here can go over 800. It varies from phone to phone what it'll take--nature of the beast.

Thanks for the response, and the link to the OC kernel.

After reading that thread, it appears I have no further questions. Many thanks teh_dude!

sure thing. => You present a reasonably good model of what a new member here should do. There are many who don't read or search the forum much and dive right in asking questions easily answered. There are also those who don't get anything that they read, and I can understand it, except there's a certain base level of knowledge and familiarity with computers and this sort of technology that is required to do well with these modifications, and there are some who don't understand that and dive in without knowing what a zip file is. So Kudos to you. And I already posted in the OC thread, but I'm jealous of your 844. lol

Switched to joneidy's sense rom and all the problems I had on CM7, but there are some features I miss.

@TheAmazingDave
I just installed the program from the market and it seems to work with or without gps.

i started it without GPS, complained about not having it enabled and that it would not track me. As soon as I turned GPS on , I burned 45426 calories and covered 486 miles :p

Hey... Now that's my kind of work out plan... 45426 calories burned & 486 miles... and all from home... Whats the name of that program?

I appreciate that... have spent 3 hours + to get to post 318... Needed something to crack me up. I was gitt'n a little thread happy... :D

can someone tell me where CM7 keeps it's notification sounds, I want to bring them to a different ROM.

forget it I found it.

I tried the sense rom. i liked it. i tried the chickeneater rom .... bit blah but very stable. But this right here.... its delicious. I dont know what the fuss was about it being glitchy theres hardly any glitchiness, just some operations refuse to open ( root explorer) it didnt put my titanium backup on, but thats great because i'm not app heavy and it really works for me. the is really a rom for ppl who want to customize till kingdom come. Bravo, shabash, Va... just blooming great.
i wish there were more girly themes, or at least sexy women ones, you can really tell the male geek has this developing thing down. I dont care, maybe one day i'll try to develop some themes of my own ( scary!)

Girl geek? Sexy. But you're in Michigan. For shame, for shame. :p I can't remember if this CM7 uses ADW launcher or not, but if not, you can download it from the market (There's a free version and paid version, paid version comes with more customization capability), and then if you want girlyness, you can start off with y0rk's Pink ADW Theme: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuyork.adwpink

It comes with it's own pink wallpapers. All of his color based themes have the same icons/dock bar/wallpapers, except in different colors. There's a whole set of them.

Beyond that, then you can set whatever girly wallpaper you want, and then go to the UOT Kitchen and make a super girly theme there, where you can set the colors to whatever you like and do all sortsa stuff, and then flash that theme to match the rest of what you've got.

Is this ROM dead? Have not been any updates for a while.

I haven't had any time in a while. I mass produce ice cream as my day job and seeing as it is summer I am pretty busy. Around 60 hours a week. I will update it when I get some free time in my hands. As for it being dead I've been using it since I started working on it. It is very much alive!

Lol I should probably get a job this year.....

nah too much work

I have a few questions about the part with the partition.
First, how do I partition it? Can I just connect the SD card to my computer and use a partition program?
Second, to which format do I partition it to? Ext2, ext3, etc.?
Also, is there a specific order in which the partitions must be in?

Edit: typo.

After playing around for a while, I actually found out what I had to do.
I'm very caution with these types of things as I don't want to brick my phone, so it took me a while.

Just in case anybody else has the same questions, here's what I did and had no problems whatsoever::

1 - Boot phone in recovery mode
2 - Scroll down to "Partition sdcard"
3 - Select "Partition SD" and follow the instructions (I did not create a swap and selected a size of 512MB)
4 - When that finishes, select "SD:ext2 to ext3" and follow the instructions.

I installed the ROM without any problems (luckily) and am currently enjoying it. This ROM is truly amazing! Major props to everyone involved in creating it and porting it over to the Optimus M!

nope still does it... dl'ed it, partitioned sd, upgraded to ext3, coppied to sd, cleared cache & data, flashed. am i doing anything wrong?

I'm having the same problem. i had flashed it once before with no issues. But since then I changed my recovery from Joneidy's to GNM. Now I get force closes. Is it the recovery?
