Root ClockworkMod Recovery [For Motorola Triumph]

Hey isacc ill be making a back up for you in a few, then ill edit this post with the link to it. The ONLY thing i did was root it.

Don't forget that having a restorable Nandroid backup is very nice safety-line to have in your back pocket...

For example, if you froze, renamed, or deleted the wrong .apk file and you boot-looped, you could simply restore your Nandroid backup.

I often wonder why companies such as Motorola don't hire independent developers like you guys to do this stuff. It would save them a lot of troubles and the customers would be much happier! Stupid giants.

Edit: Just got Clockworkmod on mine. Everything seems to be working fine. Thanks for all your help devs!

How do you make anandriod backup?

That is one of the things the custom recovery allows us to do.

Boot into the custom recovery and go down to backup and restore then select backup, it will create the nandroid backup on your sdcard (/sdcard/clockworkmod)

Follow the same instructions just swap out the old with the new version.

I'm getting closer and closer to being able to build CM7. You can see my commit history here: https://github.com/ikarosdev/android_device_motorola_triumph/commits/gingerbread

Tjstyle has informed me that there's something about the stock kernel that might not let us boot into CM7. In order to fix it, you guys will need the kernel source. Guess it's time to start asking Motorola.
 
I don't know why but I'm having serious problems getting into the bootloader. I used gingerbreak to root, and not matter how long I hold down the power down & lock button all the phone manages to do is turn on.

I'm assuming you installed Clockwork Mod as the instructions said at the top of this page? It's working fine on my Triumph!

Also, is anyone else here having signal problems? As soon as I go into a building, my signal commits suicide.

After porting CM7 for CDMA (Moto Triumph) you can also try to port same for the GSM version. Kernel source of MI-410 (GSM VERSION) is available and I'm ready to provide all the files needed and be a beta-tester for the Same, We are also waiting for CM7 Port.

I had the same issue this morning. Try unplugging the USB and doing the Down Vol + Power button. It worked for me at that point.

no physicist here, so forgive me if I get this wrong... My understanding is that lower frequencies are better able to penetrate certain substances. MT only has 1900 MHz band where other phones have both 1900 and 850.
For instance, verizon LTE, operating somewhere in the 700 MHz range (I think) does great indoors.
That may explain your indoor performance compared to outdoor.

Edit: sorry for taking this a bit (way) off topic. Back to the recovery!
 
Not sure where to post this, and it's so minor at this point I almost feel guilty pointing it out. But mounting sdcard as storage within the CWM doesn't work, at least for me.
 
Ben lurking here for a while and finally registered. I was curious as to when we might be able to install this via the rom manager on the market?

Probably not any time soon. However, if tjstyle helps me out, I'll go ahead and submit this to Koush to get this included.

Thanks man, that's exacly what I had to do! Apparently my phone wont let me access the recovery or the bootloader when it's plugged into my computer, weird.

As far as i have seen no android devices will let that happen, I mentioned it more or less in my guide for putting the recovery on the device.
