Eris to v2.x, when?

I have to laugh when the little "survey" pops up after a Chat on any web site... like they are going to read my comments and change things! Right!

Although I have to say, the host I use for my clients' sites has a really excellent chat - honest information and actual help! They are the exception - but thank goodness for even one exception!!
 
I'm sure everyone has heard my story so far. An email to VZW simply said they wouldnt tell if they did know, and a phone call to my local VZW store had the chick say 1.6 would be out soon.

I really might get a job at VZW if I get to BS people and get paid commission for it.

I don't think they actually pay people per lie though.
 
Wow! Mine still says the Firmware is 1.5 but I guess I'll just have to trust the rep over my own eyes on this one!

All right! They finally got updated!!! Yeah! :D

But... shouldn't it be somehow different than it was a few minutes ago with this new update to 2.0?!:confused: :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Maybe it's a stealth update... and we all have the new version - just with the old name!

Lie to a new customer about the phone's capabilities and you've got a sale. And no conscience.
 
I stopped by the Verizon store on my way home to check out the Pre Plus and asked about the Eris update. The guy I talked to uses the Eris as his personal phone and told me that it WILL be upgraded sometime during the first qtr of this year. I asked 2.0 or 2.1 and he said 2.0. Hmmm. OK, well that's another one for the Q1 update. I remain :confused: !
 
My son in law was having problems with his Eris not receiving SMS messages. He spent a lot of time on the phone with them while doing a reboot of his phone. He asked when he could expect to get the 2.0 up date and the guy answered that we'll be getting 2.0.1 not 2.0 and that the Eris customers will be waiting until near the end of March. So I guess we can ad this to the list of "I heards" and "they saids".

How many times do we have to repeat this? "The end of March" is the same as "Q1". March 31st marks the end of Q1...beating dead horses over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

I agree with you to the extent that we are repeating this over and over again, BUT, (a big but) when a new guy comes in wondering, he is not going to go back and read everything that has been said up until now. So yes, it will get repeated and it will be for the benefit of that new guy. Have patience with everybody as this gets repeated ad nauseum. It will continue until the day the push arrives on our phones. If you keep coming back to this thread, it's either because you want to see if anyone has written anything new, or you just want to read your own post over and over again. You already know what the answer to the original question is, so you coming back over and over is basically the same thing as people repeating the Q1, March 31, whatever answer to the question. So lighten up and wait with the rest of us. In the meantime, some of us will come back once in a while o see if anything new has happened, or to help out the new guy.

Actually it was an HTC guy. But why would a Verizon guy be doomed if he had said this? The sales person who I was with when my son and I bought our Eris' told us we would be getting pushed to 2.0 during the first quarter. Isn't that what they are supposed to say to make the sale?

Man, sometimes I am startled that a joke/sarcasm/tongue-in-cheek remark made around here gets taken seriously.

It ruins it to always put a smiley in there every single time.

This looks like wirefly.com, and they do do renewals as well. I have always received new retail packaged phones with fast shipping. I have used them for years since you can always get a better deal than in store or online from carrier.

I just got 2 Eris and am supposedly only required to re-up the contract for the main line of my family plan, but we will see how Verizon interprets that when I activate my phones. I am pretty sure I will have new contracts for both lines. You cant beat a free Eris unless your getting 2 free Eris.
