Do Not Buy an HTC Incredible 2

I'm sorry to you fans out there but this is the worst phone I've ever owned. I have been using mobile phones since the days of the original brick phone and car phone. I have never had so many problems with a phone. First of all it's not 4g and the battery still sucks. Then there's the notifications, you're only notified of a missed call for 5 minutes and it turns itself off. So if you go to drop a deuce and someone calls you, you will have no idea that you missed the call until you wake the phone up. Then there's the led, it only works with green and amber so you can't adjust colors for notifications. Also, when you have it charging, the blinking notification light doesn't work because it's busy telling you that it's still charging. Then all the sudden I couldn't touch my clock widget to set an alarm. Apparently this is a known issue because of the last software update. Plus I'm having countless other little issues that I never had with a motorola droid or any other smartphone for that matter. I really can't believe it. Oh and then there's the reception bars that don't work. An internet search will enlighten you that it's an programming issue and doesn't reflect you're actual reception but really? You get something like that wrong. Wtf is going on?

Oh, and for those of you saying to download apps, I have and they don't work either. You can't even find missed reminder or missed call in the market anymore. I had missed reminder but it stopped working after the update. Really? A reminder that goes away after 5 minutes? Are you joking?

What a piece of s#$%. Smart phone? Really?

Plus the bloatware seems way worse than any other phone I've had. I just tried to download an alarm clock app and there is no sound! And yes, the alarm volume is turned all the way up on the phone and the app. I can't even use this phone as an alarm clock. WHAT!

My brother has the first edition and loves it. Since when is the second edition worse than the first? They must have laid off all their good programmers to save money.

User error ... no one else seems to be having this many problems. If it is your devise, try bringing it to Verizon and see if they will swap it with a new one. If you dont want a new one, get something else ... Oh, and thanks for signing up to the site just to bitch, wish we had more members like you

Search the net bro. You'll find that others are having the exact same problems as I am. What do you think, I haven't searched around for answers? Come on man!

In all fairness, the camera is probably the best I've had on a smartphone. Maybe I'll use it as a camera for fishing. I can drop it in the water and it won't matter.

You might have caught a bad device, but it seems like some of your gripes have to do with the Android OS, or the nature of Android phones in general.
Not finding Missed Reminder in the Market has nothing to do with the phone, BTW...

I'm no expert on programming but I think it's a combination of android os and the specific release and mods done by htc on the incredible 2. I've been able to find every problem I'm having online with people on the same phone. I've not read anything about motorola releases having the same issues.

Sorry to link other forums but it seems no one believes me...

Reminder, solution doesn't work anymore...
missed call/text/email reminder??

Alarm... (Not solved)

I believe coming to the INC2 forum was probably the wrong place to vent your frustration. Most everyone here already has one, so your rant is falling on deaf ears. Try a Thunderbolt if you think the INC2 is bad; or better yet...a Droid X 2 or even an iPhone, so you can only add music via iTunes or not indulge in any open sourceness! Wait, wait...try any Samsung model on any carrier! My only complaint about the phone is the speaker volume (all other issues are purely from someone putting too much faith in product assembled by a 7 year old overseas); other than that, this phone continues to rate highly among smartphone enthusiasts. You can always switch to Cricket and get yourself a Huawei!

Well put. Since most of here have already bought this phone and are quite happy with it not sure why 'raw fish' would show up here except to vent about whatever has his shorts in a bunch. Then again, perhaps we should be patient with someone so upset.

Everyone has their preferences in phones but there is nothing really wrong with the Inc2. None of them are perfect but the Inc2 is pretty darn good and I'm happy to have one.

Sorry to hear your issues. I also had the clock app issue, but a factory reset fixed it. Not an ideal solution to fix the clock app, but hopefully HTC will fix it soon with an OTA update.

I agree the reminders should be a default function on the Android. I came from an Razr and even the Razr had constant reminders. Try the app Easy Reminders. It works pretty well.

Pretty much all smart phones come with bloatware. If you don't want the bloatware, you will have to root your phone. There are info on how to root the Inc2 at the top of this forum.

Unfortunately Inc2 is not a 4g phone. If you prefer a 4g phone, you might want to try the Thunderbolt or the Samsung Charge. Both of those 4g phones are pretty nice. Hopefully you're still within your Verizon grace period, so you can return this phone and try the other 4g LTE phones. Good luck.

I don't understand why someone would buy an Incredible 2 if they wanted a 4G phone. It was never advertised as such.

I think the bloatware is a Verizon thing. I have a iPhone for work and it came with some built in stuff but not as much junk as my Verizon phones have come with.

I appreciate some of the sane responses. I think some of you misread my post. I DIDN'T get a 4g phone because I wanted better battery life. My point was that I was disappointed with the battery life on the Inc 2 and understood that it is NOT 4g when I bought it.

You're right about the bloatware, I know it's a verizon thing. I take it back. It's just worse than I've ever seen it! Not an HTC thing though, you're right.

I think an out of the box nonadjustable 5 minute reminder, broken clock/alarm widget, two color led, and bad reception bar algorithm are pretty bad issues. Maybe I'm expecting too much but I've had a few blackberries and a motorola driod 1 and didn't have any complaints until now.

Surely you aren't that disappointed with this phone coming from a Blackberry though! Looking back, I don't know how I ever survived toting around one of those.

as far as the battery goes, i charged my phone this morning for 2 hrs, because i forgot to charge it last night, and ive used the crap out of it today... and still have half battery life when i am going to bed right now. i leave my brightness down low, the gps off, and am on wifi almost all the time.as far as the LED goes, it was like that with the original Incredible.

have you tried a factory reset to see if that helps any of your issues? I honestly LOVE this phone. the ONLY issue i have noticed is that the cradle (metal piece around the charging area) is loose. big whoop.

as for your alarm issue, and your sound issue, i dont know what to tell you, as i am fortunate enough to have never had those problems.
sorry man, but try a factory reset and see if that helps at all.

Hmmm, I'm not sure but my old blackberry storm did everything I expected it to do and I never had any issues until I dunked it. Of course the inc 2 is a more advanced phone and I appreciate that, but when basic functionality is not in place, I do miss some of my old phones. I never had a problem in the past with basic functionality such as reminders and alarm clocks.

Also, I'm coming to the inc 2 from a motorola droid 1 not the blackberry.

I'm using Juice Defender and it has made a big difference. I used the free version for a while and eventually got "Plus" which is even better.

I just did a factory reset and my alarm is back and the phone seems to be performing better. Never had to do a factory reset on a phone before and I don't install a lot of apps or try to root or anything like that. Usually a battery pull fixes all my problems.

I'm still miffed about the reminder but I'm trying the easy reminder app. I didn't realize the LED issue was the same with the old version. That kinda makes it worse in a way but whatever. It doesn't seem to be too much to ask or rocket science that people would want a rgb led that's separate from the charging indicator. Not that big of a deal though I guess.

Maybe I'll have to eat crow here, we'll see.

Signal bars a always a poor representation of signal strength. dBm is the only accurate way to read a signal strength.

Two colors for an LED notification was enough for me on every smartphone I have owned (for those that even had that). How many do you want?

The alarm thing must suck. I don't have that problem with mine. Maybe because I rooted.

My battery life is better than any (smart)phone I have ever owned except for the iPhone. It was about the same as that, until I paid attention to what I was doing to the battery, now it's even better than that.

I think you ought to go try a different phone. Or at least try getting a replacement if it is that bad for you. But thetomlin2 is right, you're putting poo on our trail. Why come to this forum and start a new thread just to b*tch?

Punch a pillow. Return your phone and get something else. Post here if you have a question, or better yet, if you want to help someone else with theirs.

Well Easy reminder doesn't work. I tested it and it timed out after 5 minutes despite my settings. Speaking of poo, I can't take one without missing a call and the notification timing out. Lol.

Like I said I thing the LED thing is lame. I'm pretty sure a lot of other phones have more capable RGB LED's, but I can live with it I guess.

The alarm thing seems to be fixed for now through a factory reset until I get pushed another update.

I thought message boards were for complaining and responses. A question or an issue is a complaint really. If you want to only have postings like, "Hey I'm happy with my pone", I don't think this site would get a lot of traffic.

I've not had one problem with this phone yet. I installed go launcher from the very start and I have the clock app but using home switcher I launched Sense and i couldnt find the clock app. Going back to go launcher the clock app is there. Am I missing something?

Ok, but why am I having to install apps out of the box to get basic smartphone functionality like an alarm clock and a reminder?

There is a big difference between asking a question and complaining. At least that is what I think.

I'm glad your alarm works again. Hope they don't push any more broken "updates" that I keep hearing about (I avoided those with root).

Have you ever taken your phone with you to the pot? I find it way more fun than reading bathroom literature. Besides, the thrill of talking to someone that doesn't realize what you're doing can't be beat.

Don't you ever wonder what strange things people are doing on the other end of the line? I bet you will now...
